Mitch's Bait and Tackle

Dropped in for some bait on my way to Wheedon Island. Shop was very well-stocked, product was very well-priced, and the service was friendly and efficient. First time in a long time that my bait outlasted my fishing mood. Great local bait shop—I’ll be back!

I read a lot of previous reviews after visiting this place and I see a lot of people saying the guy was rude. From what I can tell he may be a bit standoffish but he’s not rude everybody has different personalities I’m 35 and just started saltwater fishing and I came in asking about what baits to use, where to go, how to use it and Both the guys in they were more than helpful. It just appears that some people feel entitled and think just because they’re a customer they have to be treated like kings and queens. This will definitely be the only place I return to in the future. Great merchandise and great people in there.

Mitch helped me from start to finish. Ended up catching 1 snook my first time out with the doa shrimp lure. Friendly knowledgeable and great prices.

I’ve been to Mitch’s Bait and Tackle a few times now and I just want to take a moment to give recognition to an employee. Not only does Ryan characterize the very definition of professionalism, but is also very knowledgeable of all things fishing. He give’s great tips on where to fish and will go out of his way to ensure that you purchase the correct equipment and bait.

I myself have zero experience with fishing and would have wasted my money buying equipment that simply wouldn’t have worked. Ryan took the time to walk me through what specific rod, hook and bait I needed for the fish I was after.

Overall, every visit to Mitch’s Bait and Tackle has been a great experience. They have definitely earned my patronage and I plan to recommend this small business to friends.

Bait and Tackle, my bud sells bait commercially to these Mom and Pops bait shops all over the state lol, this is our neighborhood place for getting a pole repaired or a reel restrung!!!! Many different kinds of tackle also!!! Cast nets and they are dog lovers!!!!

Every time we go into Mitch's we are eager to learn from them. Both Mitch and team member Ryan are exceptionally knowledgable and truly want each customer to have the best fishing experience possible. It's nice to find a bait shop that takes their time in helping amateurs reach their fishing goals. Their prices are very reasonable and bait is always available when we go in. Mitch's bait shop is always my first stop when it comes to live bait. Nobody in St. Pete does it better. They provide a great product with service and willingness to provide great tips based on their experience. Ryan Smart, seems to always be on his game at the store with excellent service. I purchased a new rod and reel combo the other day. There was a discrepancy at checkout where I was accidentally charged an extra $30. I left the shop and to be honest, wouldn’t have even realized I was charged the extra. Ryan was the one who reached out by calling to tell me there was a mistake and that I could come by any time to receive my money back. This honest and noble gesture exhibited by him is why I will continue to come here and give them my business. Thanks so much Mitchs.

Stopped here to grab a few things before fishing in the morning. They open early and had incredible prices. Pick up an extra rod and reel for 29.99 which worked perfectly! Definitely recommend stopping in and checking them out before box stores for tackle and bait.

These guys were very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. They have three adorable little dogs or maybe not so little then hang out in their store and they were honest and helped us out tremendously when we were trying to find a great place to fish while we were down here. I recommend going here these guys are great.

Mitchs Bait and Tackle was one of the first shops I came to after moving to Saint Petersburg and I’m happy I did. Being unfamiliar with the native species and surrounding area, both Mitch and Ryan were kind and helpful with getting me geared up to catch some fish which I later went on to do :) All being said definitely a good shop to stop by and give some attention.

Mitch is the best! You use one of Mitch’s shrimp, you catch one fish. You use one chub, you can catch two fish!

I've been buying bait and gear from Mitch for 4+ years and have always received the best service, including sharing many chuckles and stories. The shop is A+ quality all around!

I'm writing this to support my friend in his decision to close his shop for a week due to ignorant people being just plan nasty these days. C'mon, is it that hard to follow the rules (city mandated) and say please and thank you? I was disheartened yesterday when I sent the hubbie to get some bait so we can go fishing on the Bay and he came back with nothing.

Folks, if you wish to stay ugly and rude, keep it to yourself and don't leave your cave. Considerate people like myself and my neighbors are the ones being punished by not having this awesome resource, especially on a perfect boating weekend! There's 3 F's keeping most of us sane right now, and you folks that forced Mitch to make this decision ruined 1 big F for me.

If you’re fishing in the St. Pete area, I encourage you to check out Mitch’s shop. Great prices, great selection, bait is always lively, and great local knowledge when you need it. I’ve tried many bait shops in the area, and while many are good, Mitch’s Bait and Tackle is the best.

Ryan is absolutely amazing! Everyone who referred me to Mitch's was correct - Ryan offers the best advice, proper guidance on purchases, and overall so knowledgeable. I trust this place & am totally at home here.

Can’t thank Ryan enough. Haven’t been fishing in 23 years and he has helped me get everything together I need and given great advice. Has even helped me get everything I need to get my kids into fishing. Appreciate the help to get my family outside doing something I did a lot as a kid!

Mitches Bait and Tackle is a great store, always a full selection of bait. From select size shrimp to Pin fish he's got you covered. The store is also very clean and has a large variety of all your fishing necessities. Once you check it out you'll be a loyal customer, I know I was.

This place is great! Good quality fishing supplies! Great service! They have various kinds of bait! Ryan did an awesome job getting us set up for a days worth of fishing!
