With 3 kids and a dog, I vacuum all the time and I needed something I could rely on. When I went to Chester vacuum, the owner, Phil, was very knowledgeable and steered me in the right direction. I was also pleased when he agreed to price match! I have had my new Miele for about 6 months and I could not be happier!

I have bought 3 Miele vacuums here (one for myself, and two as gifts) in the last few years. I had shopped online and knew what the prices were. The vacuum I bought was the same one as online, but cheaper, and came with a guarantee!
Miele are not discounted but he owner threw in 2 boxes of bags, the carpet attachment, and the wand for hard to reach areas. Small business' customer service, like Chester Vacuum & Sewing, cannot beat the box stores.

I bought a new Miele a few years ago (the store matched the online price I found) and love it! I have many pets and the vacuum gets lots of use 😊 luckily they give a lifetime warranty on the motor because my motor went and had my vacuum back in days with the new motor! I am a customer for life! Courteous & professional!

Was shopping around for a vacuum and Phil (the owner) really helped me out. He did a demo on how the miele I purchased could pick up a bowling ball. The price was the same as I saw online and he also included some free goodies. I am very happy with Phil and will continue to go to him. I like to support local businesses that are fair to me.

Excellent and professional service on a 20 year old Miele. Polite and courteous. My machine is running great. While I was at the store I witnessed a very rude customer. I don’t know how these guys put up with such angry people. I will definitely bring my machine back.

Recently moved back to the area and needed new attachments for my Miele that is coming up on it's 16th year from Chester Vac. So nice to find the same small business still available to help. Great place!

GRAIN OF SALT...

Eighteen years ago my wife purchased a new Miele vacuum from this establishment. Works great. A real workhorse.

For 18 years we purchased vacuum cleaner bags from them.

Seven Years ago my wife we went back because our Miele vacuum because the cord no longer automatically retracted. We asked to purchase a new 'Cord Reel' thinking we would install it ourselves. We were quoted a price and then then the owner went on to do his best to scare us telling us that the spring could unwind any moment and if that happened we would have to buy a new Cord Reel. In light of the rest of the story, this bothers me.

So we lived with the vacuum not retracting for seven years and finally the cord went. We took it apart and tried to clean the contacts but it just would not power up. So my wife brought the vacuum to these guys and they asked for a $40.00 deposit to figure out what was wrong telling my wife that that to fix it would be at least $200.00, maybe more.

So then they come back with a cost $289.00 to fix it and then went down to $259.00. My wife said no thanks and went to pick it up. She then went on vacuum cleaner market dot com and bought the cord reel for $99.99 (and you know they are making money). It took us 20 minutes from start to finish to take it apart, replace the cord reel and put it back together.

I think this establishment could have charged less this time and not tried to scare us off first time.

Buyer beware - bought a Clean Obsessed vacuum a year ago from this place and got terribly ripped off. Guess I wasn't paying attention. Sold me a "lifetime warranty" for an extra $100. It worked OK for a while but now the power nozzle is not working and I have since moved to another state. I called him and he was extremely rude - customer service is non-existent.

Brought two vacuums in for tuneups. Paid a deposit for both but was never given an estimate. Nine days later they said both vacuums were ready. When I arrived to pick them up, they mistook someone else's vacuum for one of mine and tried to give it to me. Turns out they had done work on only one of my vacuums, for which they charged me more than it would have cost for a brand new unit! I was also charged for a cord replacement that was never done and was overcharged by at least $75 for a new vacuum that was supposedly "on sale." Learned my lesson the hard way: I would never recommend this place!

We brought our vacuum in for service due to low suction. 2 weeks later we get the vacuum back and when we went to use it the carpet brushes spin.

We went back to the store and the guy doubted that we only had the vacuum back for 2 days. He then saw that we weren't lying to him. He said you paid $250 for a yearly maintenance and they didn't even change out the hepa filter.

I said to him so we paid $700 for a vacuum 2 years ago and now your charging me $250 for a yearly service checkup. Plus it has more issues then when I brought it in for service. He said okay here's a loaner vacuum. He had issues with the power cord when he tested the loaner vacuum. He said oh it's just the power strip I have it connected to. I went home and plugged it in and you guessed it, no power to to the vacuum.

They call us an hour later and said they fixed my vacuum. I said btw the loaner vacuum didn't work. He said yeah I thought something was wrong with that loaner vacuum.

If you want good customer service, go someone else. I am all for supporting local businesses but not this one. I would rather spend my $1000 on a business that understands what customer service is about.

Brought our vacuum in for repair. Left a deposit and expected a call back with estimate. Called and told repair done, no estimate given. 250$. Today go to use the vacuum after a couple of previous times of use and the hose totally disconnects from the vacuum. The wires looked like they had been cut clean across, although I can't see where it would have happened inside the vacuum. I agree with the above review. The guy is only interested in selling you his over priced vacuums. I felt bad for the guy. He seems not in the best of health so I didn't give the review for no estimate but today, I just felt I had to warn people. Buyer beware. I like to support local businesses but not when they aren't doing business in a fair way.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!
I watched the man behind the counter discourage 2 separate customers from fixing their vacuums and to buy one of the vacuums he had for sale. They were not interested. I came to have a new belt put into my Oreck vacuum. He said when was the last time this was serviced? I said less than a year at the vacuum shop near my home. He then proceeded to tell me I needed to have it serviced to risk blowing the Motor. I asked how much for service and he said it depends on what kind of shape it's in and I needed to leave an $80 deposit. I told him it was serviced less than a year ago, and I only needed a belt. He said his boss isn't going to like if he did such a small job and he really could only do a belt if I serviced it.
I took my vacuum and left. I only went there because it was close to work. When I told my co workers about it, they knew the reputation of the place well. They couldn't believe it was still in business, because of the poor reputation it's had over years of trying to screw people. They also told me the guy behind the counter is the owner and makes up the story " his boss isn't going to like him doing a small job"
1 star is generous to give this scam of a dump.

My experience with this store is the worst I've ever had in any retail store. I was given a hard sell on a new vacuum cleaner and spent $580, and I was promised a lifetime warranty for this product that would be recognized across the country by other dealers. Upon checking the product website when I got home later that day, I learned that this product was not recommended for my flooring type, nor was there any such thing as a lifetime warranty. I called the store the very next day and found out I needed to wait an additional day until I could speak with the owner. When I returned, he refused to refund any money, even though it was less than 48 hours and the box was completely unopened. He did not tell me all sales were final I made the purchase, and he had many other identical products in his store, so obviously my returned item had not depreciated. Although he offered me credit toward a different machine, I would not trust him on any future purchase, and so I left the item in the store and advised him that I would settle with my credit card company. I absolutely would not recommend anyone go to the store if they want honest customer service.

Absolute worst store for vacuum service. Was without my 2 year old Mielie Vacuum for 2 weeks for service. I got it back and it smelled like an old man and was even more broken then when I dropped it off.. $240 dollars later it's even more broken then when I brought it in. They give you the side eye like your lying to them. Went on and o. About caring for the thing.. never again. They take your money and sell you garbage. Terrible service and terrible products

Miss led on several occasions as to when my sewing machine will be fixed. Excuses, delays and always referenced " talk to the owner". I retrieved my machine and found a bright 5 star repair with Bobbin Sewing Machine Co. In Wayne. Yes a hike but very easy to find and expert . Professional, very knowledgeable, singer machine patten owner and very detailed. He is my hero.

dont waste your time! went there for a part for my central vac, the guy told me it isnt available. I told him I changed it once already, he told me no I could not have. He tried to sell me a part I didnt need for $25.00. Went to the vacuum store in roxbury on Rt 46, bought the part for $3.00. So he would get a BIG NO STAR from me if I could

He over charges for parts you can buy On-line for one tenth the cost. Not sure how much he changes for repairs. There are two other sewing machine and vacuum repair in the area. One is on Main Street Hackettstown. The other is across the street from Barnes and Noble in Ledgewood.

There’s a reason why this place has 2.5 stars! Absolutely terrible customer service from whom I’m guessing is the owner of the store, extremely rude and disrespectful. Someone who doesn't have the courtesy to welcome their customers and even respond to anything asked is so unprofessional coming from someone who works in customer service. Highly recommend taking your business else where.
