Twin City Smitty’s Vintage Audio

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Twin City Smitty’s Vintage Audio, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of fantastic. The owner, Shawn, was not only incredibly friendly but also clearly passionate about vintage audio equipment. His enthusiasm for the subject is contagious and made the shopping experience both educational and enjoyable.

Shawn's prices are remarkably reasonable, which is a breath of fresh air in today's market. I initially visited the store to find replacement needles for two different record players. Not only did I find exactly what I needed for one of my players, but Shawn's knowledgeable guidance led me to discover some pretty cool speakers, which I couldn't resist taking home.

A hidden gem whether you want vintage gear, vinyl or cds! Shawn's shop is kind of like a music speakeasy. Once you find it and know how to get in, you'll meet the proprietor and find yourself coming back repeatedly. I love big record stores, but after collecting for the past 12 years, I'm getting tired of the prices they charge for standard used classic rock records. Shawn has the answer. He has been expanding his inventory and he keeps prices where you'd expect (hope?) used vinyl would be. Today I bought a handful of records, all in terrific shape, sounding minty and not hard on the wallet. He clearly labels the records so you know if there's a scratch on track 1 and so forth - he puts in the work so you know what you're getting. He also has a room of unmarked "new arrivals" which makes for great treasure hunting - the way record shopping should be. I've purchased full vintage setups (including turntables) from Shawn for my daughters and everything has worked well and at fair prices - kinda like what you'd expect to pay a friend for his used gear. Recently, when a friend of mine wanted to unload over 600 records, I connected him with Shawn. My friend was very happy with how Shawn treated him after having been frustrated taking part of his collection to one of the big stores in the twin cities. Consider Shawn if you're looking to sell! 5 stars without a doubt.

Recently my friends and I were in MN for the Frozen Four. We went on a record shop and vintage audio excursion and ended up at Twin City Smitty's. Cool place! We weren't sure what we were walking into with all the different rooms, but Smitty gave us a tour and explained the layout. He has a lot of gear, and I suppose if you had a request he would either have it or would know where you might be able to get it. The real treasure is the album and media selection. I ended up with 5 albums, four cassettes, and 12 CD's to add to my collection. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in the Twin Cities. Thanks!

Shawn (Smitty) is a down to earth and knowledgeable store owner. The store layout is very cool, and a creative way to display/test listen to the ever-growing number of records, CDs, and vintage equipment on hand.

I came in to see if they had newer turntables, none at the time I visited, and walked out with the OST for Eddie and the Cruisers!

Highly recommend Twin City Smitty's Vintage Audio to those iso a great person helping a revived community.

Not to be missed by music lovers in Minnesota. Definitely off the beaten track but worth it. Sean is great, the prices are exceptional, and the selection is excellent.

Can not say enough about this place. Great selection and cool gear. Cory spent time showing me all my options and answering any questions I had. To my surprise we were able to test a few units with different speakers which went above and beyond my expectations. Thanks again!

This was the ONLY place is a 100-mile radius where I could find a cassette tape pressure pad. Smitty had some ready for me, plus a few good casettes. Lots of vintage finds!

Found some great records! Shawn is very welcoming and gave a tour. The shop is unique with lots to see--vinyl, CD's, tapes, music equipment, random toys, lots of fun stuff. Highly recommended! Can't wait to return!

I stumbled upon this place about 6 weeks ago. The location is a bit different then most record shops, but don't let that dissuade you. Smitty gave me the tour of his layout and let me look around, no pressure whatsoever! I pulled 4 tough find lps from a collection he just acquired. He quickly put them through his spin-clean, we play tested them, and then he threw me a great price! Excellent experience overall, and I've been meaning to get back ever since! Thanks again, Shawn!

So glad to have found this gem of a record store. My 2 kids were able to find numerous of the LPS that they have been looking for. Owner is super awesome, friendly and knowledgeable! Will definitely be coming back for repeat visits.

This is the best record store in the area. Shawn's prices and selection are amazing. I've been coming here for over a year now and each time I find a few to add to my collection. Shawn is very easy to work with weather you are buying or selling. Stop in and you will be a repeat customer.

Smitty is awesome. I got a pretty low quality Victrola record player for Christmas and wanted something better so I went here. He listened and gave me a much better setup complete with turntable, reciever, and speakers all within my budget and within two days. Excellent customer service and overall great experience. If you want vintage records and/or sound equipment, this is the place to go.

Great place to buy and sell music. Fair prices given on my small stack of 40 vintage rock vinyl LPs. Friendly and knowledgeable owner that won't make you feel stupid on questions your not so sure about like I've experienced at other leading stores in the area. I suggest that any music lover should check out this store!
