Highly recommended this amazing place. Doing a front porch remodel and need one 2x6 Cedar board at 105 in long and could not find one. Came up here to see if they could help us. The owner didn't think there was anything long enough but he kept looking at his pieces and went out to a different area and we found one piece! We are so grateful and excited to be able to finish our project.

Hobby Hardwood is definitely the best place to go if you need a specialty piece of wood at a great price. Their staff are both friendly and helpful. I found exactly what I needed and I’ll be sure to come back here if I need any more specialty pieces of wood in the future.

I’m so impressed with this lumber mill! Robert and Martha are extremely knowledgable and costumer friendly. Just recently bought some poplar to build a large live edge table top and was so pleased with the experience. They have a wide selection of beautiful wood to choose from and even re-planed the wood for me to ensure that all 3 slabs would join seamlessly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for specialty wood for their project.

As a hobby woodworker, I love this place. My dad was a carpenter by trade and did woodworking projects for projects for years. They’ve got lots of local and exotic hardwoods for all types of applications at very reasonable prices. The folks there know their hardwoods and they’re friendly and helpful.

Best place in the south and probably the east coast to get lumber. All the wood is prepared with the finest equipment and utmost care. No detail is overlooked. Robert and Martha are the sweetest folks as well. I recently moved to Georgia and soon realized that nothing compares to Hobby Hardwood. Everything is organized, clean, and fair. The selection and variety of wood is quite remarkable considering this is not a large scale commercial operation. I was at Peach state lumber in Georgia and can tell you that the walnut from them is not the same as the walnut from Robert and Martha. The same goes for the slabs. Everything here is really easy to sift through and inspect whereas as other places you have to bend down which is a pain in the back for sure. Never discount attention to detail. Hobby Hardwood is all about the details and the experience. Check them out. It’s worth the drive of you live far away.

What a great place for some quality lumber! They will cut slabs to your specifications, making perfect joint edges and smoothly planed surfaces. The staff is super friendly and willing to help with just about anything. They also took the time to give customers a tour of their facilities. Totally worth the drive from Huntsville. I will definitely be returning for all of my woodworking projects.

Really like this place to get all my project hardwoods. Won't buy from anywhere else. I just wish they had better hours. Very difficult to get down there bc I'm always working those 2 days. Really like the variety of wood and the 2 that own it are amazing people. Both are super helpful and kind.

This is an aerospace precision & heirloom-quality hardwood shop. It is worth the drive wherever you are driving from. They have a regionally unmatched selection of material that is well worth the price. They're also helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable folks. Enjoyable experience to shop here & highly recommended.

Robert could not have been nicer or more helpful. He was extremely patient and more than happy to share his vast knowledge. So worth the short drive from Huntsville. Got enough bountiful Hickory to build a table top. He even helped us pick out the pieces.

I visited here over the weekend on a whim. I have to say that Hobby Hardwood Alabama is top notch. First and foremost the staff is fantastic. They are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The prices are more than fair for the quality of lumber they have on site. If you're in the vicinity and looking for quality lumber, this is your place.

I went her for the first time and this place was fantastic. Great selection of great looking wood, very organized and good prices. The employees were very helpful and nice. As soon as an arrived someone was there to greet me and explain how everything was set up. I will definitely be back.

This sawmill is awesome. The proprietors are super friendly and knowledgeable. The variety and quality of hardwood on hand is impressive and they will cut to your specs if needed. One thing I was super impressed with was the price which has to be seen to believe. I checked at the big box stores and even some other lumber companies and they had no Hardwood on hand and their order price for my project was over half again as much as I paid at Hobby Hardwood.
I already have them in mind for my next project.

Just had the pleasant experience of visiting Hobby Hardwood Alabama! I've never seen such beautiful hardwood. The president of the company gave me a personal tour and education about different hardwoods. I was able to purchase some beautiful wood for open shelving in my kitchen for less than half the price of cheap pine at the big box stores. I definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone. It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back!
