McKay Used Books

My family LOVES this used book store. The books are all fairly and cheaply priced. It is all organized well and the employees are kind and helpful. They have good books and board games that I had never seen before. My daughter wants to go there every weekend even at 13yrs old. This place is definitely a 5/5.

I visited this terrific bookstore while on vacation. Turns out that I researched a bookstore that my family had already decided to take me. First off, the store is massive and that had shopping carts! The shelves are chock full of pretty much any type of genre you are looking to enjoy. I ran into two small hiccups however; the single touchscreen table used for book searches and that fact that even of the book was listed in the system, it may not be in the store. Luckily I came armed with a long list of books I wanted to purchase. I made two trips over as many days as the first day I didn't have enough time. As you can see from the picture, I did pretty good even though several titles I wanted weren't in the store.

First time there and I loved it. I've been to other second hand book stores but this is by the far the most organized and well kept second hand bookstore I've been to. I went in with a list of books I was looking for my kids and came out with all of them, plus some. I left with 15 books and only paid $30 total, so an average of $2 a book!. I loved the fact that they had stations where you could type in the title or author you were looking for and it would tell you where you could find them. Everything was rightfully in its place and majority of the books were in great condition! They have a ton of other fun things likes puzzles, DVDs, games and toys. Will definitely be coming back for more.

This place is book lovers' paradise! And it is such a treat to have a place it in PWC!

Great selection. Awesome prices! One could spend hours here just browsing and picking up books you don't need but gotta have because of the low prices. 😁

Very large bookstore with something for everyone at a very affordable price! These books are very low in price and with being able to trade in books for in store credit it feels even cheaper!

I was able to trade in a whole box of books and they had gone through them in 10 minutes. I was able to use the in store credit very easily as the staff are so helpful!

If you are going to be turning in books then make sure to check out their website and they don’t take classroom books.

this bookstore is FULL OF BOOKS. found some gems and took a whole stack of books home. the prices are cheap and the condition is great. i got two ya books (daughter of smoke and bone & the scythe) that were each less than $4 and they literally looked new. i had such a fun time walking back and forth the rows looking for specific books :)

I wish I lived closer, so I could visit more often! I got lost in here having a blast, looking through so many types of books. You can find vintage works of literature, textbooks, anime, DVDs, board games, the list goes on and on! Such a great selection! I had to stop myself from filling the cart up too much. Best believe I’ll be back here when I’m in the area again and will spread the word of this store’s awesomeness! I might even bring books to trade in this time!

The best used book store I’ve ever been to and it’s not even close. Thousands of books, many older/classics, with plenty of newer books as well — for under $1. Yes brand new or super popular books are more, but you will find unbelievable deals if you love books and I highly recommend visiting and spending time perusing the shelves and many sections. Just this last weekend I left with over 20 books, and spent just over $7. Make time to visit this place - you won’t regret it!

McKay's is legit my happy place, and since I've started going - my mom wants to go just as much as I do now. So it's a family outing on Sunday's to pick-up a book or two or 10 at McKay's. I just wish the lookup system was more helpful. With that said, at least they have one! Most used bookstores don't have one.

Very organized with different genre separated. They do have old classic and new trendy books like booktoks (ACOTAR, Babel, Ali Hazelwood, Colleen Hoover). In addition, there are variety of board games, figurines, and music CDs/ movies.

I got myself few books (6) and their quality is like new with some stains, but I was able to wipe it off. Super cheap! My total came out to be $50!

It's a really great store. Huge selection of books, comics, toys, games, and music. Helpful and friendly staff. Leave yourself plenty of time to browse.

Everybody in my family loves this place! I live an hour away, and I go there at least once a year to unload old books and pick up new ones. You should go!

Always love going to McKay's! Continuously changing selection of books, vinyls, funko pops, puzzles, etc. with pretty good prices. And pretty quick resell experince. I've found several hard to find books for my collection

McKay's was a surprise for me. While taking a trip to Ollie's Bargain Outlet (next door) i decided to check it out. I'm really glad I did. They have a HUGE store!!! No idea what this building was in a pay life... But it was big. It's full of absolutely TONS of books, DVDs, games, and much more. They had an endless supply of paperbacks, and a surprising number of hardcover books too. They have graphic novels, playstation and Xbox games, and even some toys like Nerf guns for sale! Their staff is a little busy behind the plastic covered counters (covid and all), but the cashier who rang me up was very nice. I'll probably head back again soon.

McKay's is a long-standing institution of Manassas. From its origins as a used bookstore to its current incarnation as a merchant of various physical media, it has endured; now as a throwback to a bygone era when it was perfectly normal to physically walk into a brick-and-mortar establishment with your legs and browse through actual physical copies of books, records, cds, dvds, graphic novels, and other pick-up-able products with your hands.

Unfortunately the entire religious section is Christianity tip to tip(not even a single copy of any translation of the Tao te Ching, nothing Jewish, Muslim, Hindu--literally nothing but Christianity, not a single book). I got a biography of St. Francis and a book about JC's mom that JP2 said was a real page turner. But I came for the Zhuangzi. No dice.

There is a very solid humor section and a lot of great vinyl records. They also buy used media and gift store credit or cash until 7:00 p.m.. store closes at 8:00 p.m..

McKay’s is the best used bookstore in Northern VA, and most of the surrounding areas honestly. It has a huge selection, something for everyone. Some sections are more well stocked than others but this just forces one to expand what they might read and look for hidden treasures. You can bring in your old and unwanted books, DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs, video games, etc and exchange them for either cash or my personal favorite, store credit. You get more for your trade in if you choose this option. Their exchange process is top notch, goes quick, and you can either browse while waiting or they’ll send you a text when it’s ready. Being a transplant to the area, it took me years to find a spot like McKays but it’s a great store and I hope it continues to be in the area for a very long time.

Amazing Place to visit. A lot of hard working and friendly employees really make this place worthwhile to visit. Wall to Wall books !!!!! Every subject imaginable. The selections are great, and the Price (?) --- Amazingly low prices. Thanks for keeping your store running. I have visited many times over the years, but first time posting. Enjoyed each visit.

What a treasure trove of books, DVDs, board games, and so much more. Incredibly well organized for what it is and a gem of a place to find books for the upcoming school year.

We love going to McKays because they have a large selection of books for a fair price. Recently we have been going to get dvds of movies and tv shows for our kids and those were also in great condition and for a fair price.
