Superior Outfitters

This is a great shop. I live two hours away, and usually make a trip or two every month to Superior Outfitters. They have frequent sales with some amazing bargains on high quality items. The employees are super friendly and eager to help. It’s clearly apparent that customer service/satisfaction is really important to them. The owner (Nick) is super involved, hands on, and goes above and beyond to make me feel like he appreciates my business.

As for the guide service, I’ve fished once with Nick, and it was an awesome trip. I tie flies, and prefer to catch fish on my own flies—more rewarding. He told me what patterns/colors to tie for the trip. His favorite pattern was far and away the top producer—we put 6 fish in the net, and 5 of them were on the one he told me to focus on tying—Including my personal best brown trout (28”).

What I liked the most was the educational approach he used. I told him I wanted him to show me some good fall steelhead spots in Marquette. As well as guiding me to some awesome spots, he also taught me some outside the box techniques that produced.

I can’t say enough great things about this business—they are a perfect shining example of a small business/local storefront being a better option than a big box online store/giant retail chain. They grind to earn business, and they deserve all they get and more!!!

One of the most helpful places in town to get fly tying materials, flies, lures, and other tackle. They have unique items for fair prices and i always find something new when I go! I appreciate the conversation from the employees and their suggestions for different things. I will go again and again!

By far the most knowledgeable staff for all things fly fishing, camping, UP fishing and more. Although a newbie in fly fishing, they gave me incredible advice, so much so that I took a lesson from Trent. Highly recommend him or anyone there for a lesson. Trent taught me the basics from stream to rod, to gear. Here’s the best part, DONT buy on Amazon, buy from them. You won’t save a dollar trust me. The service, stock and advice they give doesn’t measure to buying online. I’ve been in their store several times to buy gear as they only have the best, and best priced. I returned my original fly rod and reel on Amazon and got outfitted here. From Lake Superior to Yellow Dog River; they know what you need and the gear to get you fishing. Don’t go anywhere else, trust me.

Wonderful local resource for everything fishing. Great selection of gear for fly fishing. Limited selection of camping gear, but what they have is higher quality items. Like very little overlap with Walmart. The window mentions other sports but this place is really about fishing and camping. Friendly, helpful staff. Prices are reasonable.

Purchased a rod online through Superior Outfitters. Ended up with the TFO Pro II, 10' 7wt. Beautiful rod that came with an absolute AMAZING price. Assisted by Nick Simon. Awesome customer service, very willing to offer numerous options to get me onto a fly rod that fit not only my needs, but my budget as well. Communication was excellent and there was never any gaps in his responses. Always very respectful and offered a wonderful first time buyer experience. Will definitely come back to them for future business!

Superior outfitters is a great fishing supply location. Lots of great stuff for fly fishing in particular. They held a fly tying class for several weeks that my husband and son attended. They both really enjoyed it and my son is starting to ty fly's. The owners were great and very helpful! Thank you!

Great shop. Awesome array of every type of fishing, fly tying, and bait. Can also be fully outfitted for a backpacking trip with brands like Nemo, Exped, Good To Go Foods and Primus.

High quality equipment and expert staff! I was able to get everything I needed for my fishing trip. Selection was great, and the prices were fair. They have plenty of supplies, if you tie your own flies.

Extremely friendly dude behind the counter. I don't fly fish but I do tie inline spinner skirts and occasionally dabble in smaller simpler flies to use of off docks for bluegill. I went in with an open mind though I found an awesome selection of spinning gear for bass panfish pike and trout. I wish I wasn't just visiting town I would be in here every day. They even have used lures for the cheap and that's super cool

A local shop that carries quality gear is indispensable. There are very few shops I have ever been too that I feel I want to support fully. In Marquette, there are quite a few and not getting into biking, Superior Outfitters and The Compound(ski eq) are the two shops I will buy my gear from exclusively. The owner and employees are super friendly, the shop dog is awesome and the prices are great. I would recommend them to anyone. Anyone not leaving 5 stars is questionable.

Top notch service, selection and prices. Shipping is always fast. Was running low on eggs for float fishing. Ordered a pound of coho eggs that were vacuum sealed and cured perfectly. Got two full size Jars of sacks tied up.

Great local shop! We were staying in the area for a couple of days and stopped in to get some fishing lures and local advice. He geared us up for fishing on the Carp river and the Au Train. My son caught his first rainbow trout on the Carp and landed a nice smallie on the Au Train. Lots of great gear both new and used including locally made lures. We'll be back again when we're in the area.

I always stop in here when coming through Marquette. They have an amazing selection of fly tying materials and about anything you need to get you out on the water. I happily send my overflow of clients to them, as well. Good representation of the Upper Peninsula.

Had a great half day trip with Nick this morning. Fishing in the UP of Michigan for steelies is something that is a foreign concept in Colorado. Nick was very patient and helpful with my wife and I . We lost a lot of rigs in trees and on the bottom of the river. Nick would just smile and tie another on. Got into a few really nice fish!!! Nick is a great guide and we will definitely be back and use him and the shop again for our next outing in the UP
