Styx River Shooting Center

Vacationed out to Gulf Shores last week; brought our side by sides to shoot some trap. Went there two days and was worth the drive! Trap field was clean and everything functioned perfectly. The staff inside were very polite, super friendly and free coffee. Even got some tips from Mr Charlie Gates I plan on trying next time I'm in the field. Thanks again sir!

Went there on a late Sunday afternoon when it was less busy and had a very fun time shooting a couple of my guns. The staff were incredibly nice and friendly, and made my time there enjoyable and not stressed. Will absolutely return here.

Very nice range. Staff were SUPER friendly and knowledgeable.

Range officer was on point. Was good to see him take his job seriously and ensure shooters safety, very appreciative for that.

I only only brought my pistol to break it in but when I walked the range it was very nice.

Allot of accommodations for the shooters.

Main thing that stuck out to me was the lady at the front.

She talked to my girlfriend about shooting, particularly female shooters.

she was able to give her some tips that improved her shooting that day!

The gentleman that accompanied her was a pleasure to talk to as well, he was more than happy to take his time for not only me but any one that had any questions about anything and had such an awesome attitude the entire time.

They made us feel really comfortable coming to shoot at their range and it was an all around great experience.

Great service! Friendly employees and salesmen. As a friendly fyi they do not rent guns so don't come without any because they can only sell them to you. In addition, the buiesness will be owned by a new owner soon. I especially enjoyed seeing rules and regulations and having designated cold and hot times for setting up targets and shooting. There was a very informative range safety officer who was very friendly and willing to help.

I'll start by saying in from Florida and this was hands down the chillest and worrie free range I have ever been to. Is it the biggest no, but it is clean and well maintained. The gun store has a little over everything and is at a great price.

Nicest outdoor range I've been to. I'm new to shooting and I felt really safe here. Lots of helpful staff. Price was comparable to others in the area. Well stocked store. Plenty of off street parking.

Really enjoyed shooting here. Used the rifle range to sight my .308 at 50/100/200. There is another section for pistols, skeet shooting, and a tactical range I’ll check out the next time I’m able too.

Range masters are on sight, please if you go here listen to their calls. If they call cease fire you stop, and move behind the yellow line. No one is exempt from this, whatever you left on the table can wait the 2 min or less for the RM to call cold range.

Our entire family (all adults) went to this range on Saturday and had a wonderful time. The staff are professional and extremely knowledgeable and seem to enjoy sharing their knowledge. The outside RSO was incredible. He was so helpful and interested in helping us with any problem we had. He conducted the range in a very safe manner but was friendly about it. He made our experience so much nicer. I would highly recommend this range to anyone who wants a first rate experience. Also, if you're looking to buy a gun, talk to the staff here. They spent a lot of time with us and I'm going back soon to buy my next gun from these guys.

Staff was very friendly and prices for the range were reasonable. They seemed to have a good selection of products and ammo as well. The range officer was very helpful with suggestions for my son and was very polite. We want to come back and try the clay shooting stations soon. Overall, we had a great day and we will be coming back again.

My wife and I were at a conference about 35 miles from this place. We went into the office/store and they were very helpful and friendly. When we went to the pistol range, the range officer gave us some instructions and we loaded up our mags to get ready for a "range cold" announcement so we could place out targets. My wife and I are relative novices in the sport. Both a local customer and the range officer gave us pointers that were helpful and in no way condescending. In fact, we had just had night sights installed on my wife's Glock, and neither of us could hit with it. The range officer, brought out a tool kit and and adjusted/tested the sights for us and suddenly we had good and accurate grouping. We were shooting better when we left, than when we started because of a very friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend this place. It's outdoors, so don't let the rough appearance fool you. One of the best range experiences we've ever had.

Styx River has a long gun range that goes out to 200 yards as well as pistol and skeet options. The range is a bit rundown but the staff was incredibly helpful and easy to talk to. Prices are good especially if you are military. Recommend for the quality of the staffing alone; the owners and range officers were great when we went!

Very professional staff. Nice setup. Good selection. This place actually makes a decent hangout too. The RSO is on hand all the time and does actually watch to ensure your safety. This isn’t where you do any speed drills, holster work or combat stuff - at least not during normal range conditions. Too easy to have a ND. If you want to sight in or just have some fun, this is the place.
UPDATE - since the first review, I’ve learned they have facilities to handle whatever type of shooting you want to do. It’s not just the rifle and pistol range. They also have the means for you to practice the defensive stuff you learned in class, etc.
Their gun and accessories prices are fair as well with plenty to choose from.

I have tried a few other ranges and they just do not stack up to the quality education that I am getting here. I have been shooting and learning there for more than a year and a half. Great instructors, knowledgeable range officers, helpful and knowledgeable retail staff. I have enjoyed their NRA Classes and more. These guys are here to help you become safe, knowledgeable and accurate. This place is not a boot camp. Styx River Shooting range is a GREAT place to learn and continue your firearm education.

First time at Styx River Shooting Center to get some practice with my pistols and they were so nice and helpful. They even helped me pick out a holster for my Glock. I will definitely be going back with my wife.

The owners were very welcoming and made me feel at home, the range officer also was extremely helpful and enforced the rules. He even helped me sight my AK. Will definitely be doing business here again.

This range has it all!! Ranges for pistols, larger guns and skeet shooting! It’s outdoor ranges and safety officers makes it a place to bring gun enthusiasts of all ages. The store has all you need including ammo, gun cases and so much more!!

I have been a member there for over three years and enjoyed every day that I have spent there. The staff are very knowledgable and friendly and they run a very safe operation. If a hazard is observed, the RSOs are very quick and discreet to correct it. The prices in the shop for both ammunition, firearms and equipment are as fair as you can get.
