I like everyone else seen the negative reviews but decided to give it a try anyway. I called and spoke with James he was super helpful. He told me exactly how they like orders placed. I sent the paperwork they wanted along with a money order and mailed usps priority.

This was around January 16th or so. I called around the second week of February was told it was going to be shipped in the next week or so. My rifle and parts arrived today. It was packaged well and items just as described couldnt be more pleased.

I give them 5 stars because it was a decent experience. If you want something next day this isnt the place to order from. If you want exactly what you pay for at a good price this is the place. Just be patient.

Thanks again James. Ill be placing another order soon.

I've had two experiences with Hunters Lodge Corp. and both have been positive, well almost. Several years ago I purchased an antique Spanish Mauser and it was shipped to my home without a hitch. Just this year, in April to be exact, I sent them a check for an antique Peruvian Mauser. I waited and waited for my rifle to arrive and nothing. I started calling and emailing to inquire about my rifle and every time I was given a different answer. After numerous calls and emails I finally told them I'm a retired cop who had no problem taking legal action if I didn't receive my rifle or my money back. Well, my rifle arrived yesterday and I could not be more delighted with it. The rifle's wood is beautiful and most of the metal has strong bluing. They explained to me that they were back-ordered on other items. I'm happy with my Mauser and willing to give Hunters Lodge a fair shake.

I order an Enfield revolver. HL was fast to reply to my emails. The whole process from mailing my check to receiving my revolver took 5 weeks. I'm sure covid-19 slowed the process. I'm happy with the firearn.

So far, I've placed a total of 3 orders with Hunters Lodge and have been satisfied with all of them.

I placed my first order in later September of 2023 for an M43 Spanish Mauser and a 1910 Mexican Mauser. I had to call a few times to get shipping prices and mailed my order. It eventually showed up in late January 2024. The M43 was complete and in really good condition for $98, and the Mexican Mauser was pretty good and came with a bolt (some of them didn't) for $90.

I was happy enough with that order that I placed a second order after receiving that one, then another one shortly thereafter. I placed those orders in late January/early February and received them in late March (so quite a bit quicker turnaround). That order was a total of 5 Steyr M95s and 2 more M43s. The Steyrs were a mix from mostly complete and okay shape to one that had only part of a stock and missing several pieces. On the plus side, the metal on them was good and 3 of them had matching bolts. The two M43s were rougher than the first one I got and one of them was missing an extractor on the bolt and had a broken handguard. However, these were more of the $98 "off the top of the pile" rifles, so their condition was not unexpected. Both cleaned up pretty good and had excellent bores.

I've placed another order and we'll see how that works out. I think the biggest complaint about Hunter's Lodge is the antiquated way of doing business, followed by the difficulty in communication/customer service and finally the slow turnaround time. In fairness to them, I have yet to order a rifle that costs more than $100 apiece, so I don't know how they are with their nicer rifles and if they are accurately represented.

I feel like so far I've gotten my money's worth and the products were more or less as expected. I'll continue to purchase items and wait and see what I get. I think they're worth a gamble, just as long as you can accept the unknown condition and the lengthy wait.

*UPDATE*

Gave hunters lodge a fair shake and ordered from them again. Ordered a commission rifle and no.4 enfield and both arrived today 29 days after my order was cashed. Knowing the process better this time, i mailed a copy of my C&R license with my order and had no issues with shipping which was great.

Looking over the commission rifle its in pretty rough shape but that was to be expected from the description. I got a spandau arsenal receiver which was exciting but unfortunately Hunters Lodge forgot to include the bolt for the rifle. I have reached out to customer service in hopes of receiving one.

Next, I am thoroughly impressed with the enfield i received. For the price I feel like i received a phenomenal deal. Bore is bright and has no visible corrosion that i can see. From first glance it looks like it just missing the front sight blade, a sling swivel, rear sight and trigger guard screw. They also included some great extras with the rifle that i was not expecting. Brand new sealed package of extra bolt heads, and two other sealed new boxes including the bayonet and scabbard. A small piece of the front handguard is also missing but with a little elbow grease this is going to be a great rifle.

My second experience was really good and If it wasn’t for my missing bolt I’d probably give them 5 stars. Hoping customer service will come through for me this time!

My experience with hunters lodge was mixed overall but i would consider purchasing again. My 1943 spanish mauser was in terrific shape and the 1910 Mexican Mauser i ordered was missing the bolt extractor with a pretty trashed stock but for the price I’m not terribly upset. The bore on the 1910 was also good and packed with cosmoline so it has the potential to be a great shooter with a good bit of work. I left notes on my order for what I was hoping for and I think they did try their best to meet my needs. I am actually very happy with what I ultimately received.

My main reason for knocking off stars is for communication. Going into this I knew I would have a lengthy wait time and I think I waited around 45 days to receive my order which isn’t a deal breaker to me. I was able to get on the phone with a gentleman one time in shipping to confirm my initial payment, and he was incredibly polite and explained their backlog of orders due to the volume of sales. He offered to put a rush on it asap which I appreciated but told him it was unnecessary. After that phone call I unfortunately could not get a hold of anyone else at hunters lodge by phone or email. I ended up getting my C&R license while waiting for my order to be shipped and wanted to change the delivery address but ultimately was unsuccessful. I sent multiple emails with copies of my license and left voicemails that were not returned. When the order did ship out I received no communication or traffic on it and only knew when my local shop contacted me about the order arriving for pick up. Its a bummer because it cost me extra in transfer fees and I know it wouldn’t be worth it to try to communicate with hunters lodge for a refund on my fees.

If you order from hunters lodge you will receive an order but be prepared to be patient and wait some time to receive it. When you mail down your payment and order information expect it to be final and to have no further communication with anyone. If they just improve their communication with customers I think they could improve their reputation and trust as a business. Overall I would say my products were a 4/5 stars and communications with hunters lodge a 2/5 stars.

I'm not going to say anything new that hasn't been said by the other people that have reviewed this store. Their communication for distance purchases is god awful. I wrote them a check August of 2018, and finally got my purchase this week, nearly a year after they cashed it in. That was after I had forgotten about it as a lost cause, after a BBB request and after they stopped responding to calls and my e-mails.

Now why haven't I knocked them to one star?

Well the product, as surprised as I am to get it, is in surprisingly good shape and actually functions well. It seems to be a well cared for peace and I can say I'm truly happy to finally get it.

I suppose this would've been acceptable had they'd notified me of this massive delay instead of saying next week and eventually nothing.

Can you blame me for thinking it was a scam?

You may want to do your business in person, if at all, with these guys as distance is not their strong suit.

I live in California, and arranged to buy an Enfield revolver. They didn't answer three of the emails I sent, and all but the last time I telephoned, their phone rang and rang without being picked up. On the last call, I was told my order was in shipping and would go out "any day", and that turned out to be true. I received the revolver 9 weeks after my check was cashed.

Believe the negative reviews(re: ship time). They cashed my check immediately and here we are 6 months later with no product. If, by some miracle they answer the phone he will tell you that's it's going out tomorrow. I heard that 3 times over the last couple months. I only have myself to blame for not believing their reputation. Buyer beware.

Update: after Google review and a complaint to the BBB as well as an email they finally shipped. 3 of 5 items were average or above. 1 below and 1 excellent. Overall satisfied with items purchased, communication and shipping times need improvement.

Looked like a junkyard with a gate that was locked to keep you from entering the driveway. The neighbor said to blow your horn and they would let you in. Blew the horn a few times but nobody ever came out.

Mosin M38, liked the story, family run doing business for many many years. I was aware of the poor reviews but, ordered anyway. Sent a note with my check Do Not Ship Counter Bored Rifle. If Counter Bored cancel my order. Called and spoke with employee in warehouse, was it “Rich”? Confirmed verbally no ship on counter bore. He said no problem will go out in two weeks. 6 weeks later, I receive a counter bored rifle. These are described as Beautiful, they aren’t, NRA good/very good is a better description. They don’t always answer the phone, have no answering machine and emailing only gets you a reply to call them. Does HLC need the money that bad that they ship exactly what customer asked not to receive.

I have done business with Hunter's Lodge Corp. before, and was always satisfied with their customer service until recently. The last time I did business with them, they gave me the run around quite a few times. Over the period of 4 months, I was told that my order had been sent, not sent, that I needed to send more money, and was treated rudely by each person I talked to, even hung up on at one point by a manager. In the end, I had to go through a third party mediator to get my order completed, and received half my original order and some money back. I do not recommend doing business with them unless it is in person.

This business fails to provide a refund for items sent me that were returned because they were not as pictured or described in their advertising. Refund was requested three times and , initial order and return to them was via US Mail.

I have made numerous orders in 2020 and received them in a reasonable but not fast time. Ordered a shotgun over 2 months ago. Given numerous excuses when call, if they answer. I am not going to order from anymore. Too bad, they do have a good selection and good prices. The last listing is of merchandise is over 3 months old.

DON'T DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!! Ordered and ASKED for milsurp items. Was sent reproductions, attempted to return items. Had to get return authorization. They seriously delayed authorization so it was past the return date. They claimed their authorization number was bogus. Needless to say I NEVER got my money back. Guess why they don't accept credit cards.

Uncommunicative. Rude. I was going to order several hundred dollars of stuff from them and it took over a week for them to answer my questions. They don't respond to their web page contact form or answer the phone. They finally half-answered an email but it was incomplete sentences. One-third of answer was, "Been Busy." No way was I going to send them money. Another merchant was happy to take my money...

Mailed check on January 5th 2019 for a order at Hunter's Lodge. Didnt cash check til February 4th 2019. Received half the order March 1st 2019. Received 2nd half March 11th 2019. Called Gail a total of 17 times inquiring about the order and would get excuse and excuse for the order. Finally was able to reach "James" and with his help was able to get the ball on the roll to get the order for my customer. Horrible customer service to say the least. I believe firing Gail, hiring better personnel, and implementing a better communication system would help them do a better business.
