Such a lovely place to walk into. Great food from local and global sources including items made by the incredibly charming man that greeted us. A well curated food shop to begin with but the gentleman who ran the shop (wish I remembered his name) immediately greeted us with a wealth of information about both the food and the objects (local hand-crafted items, some antiques) around us. Purchase of one of his food items came with an offer of a few of his best recipes! I have yet to try them, but I am certain they will be delicious when I do. We went in only to look, and then left…but I had to come back on my own when the others were shopping down the block to try his own mustard blend and get one more dose of charm. Independent business is so difficult in this world…so happy to see a small business with charm and warmth. We need more business like this! I will be back in the Spring and will be sure to support About Food often when I return. How can you NOT like a place that has a shelf just dedicated to preserved lemon?

While on a sister's trip on Long Island we stopped in About Food looking for some souvenirs. The store owner Gerard was friendly and welcoming. He was very knowledgeable about all the products in his store and gave us great recommendations. I bought his fennel mustard and some local honey. The mustard is delicious and made an excellent mustard pan sauce.

About Food has so many amazing local and house-made goodies that you just have to try! Gerard, the owner, is so wonderful too. You walk in and feel like you’re family and walk out with a huge smile. He has tons of advice about how to use the unique, delicious products. Just can’t say enough good things about this store!

Stopped in twice, once with my son - the owner was very warming & kind & gave my son a small toy while I shopped. Went back for drink ingredients for mock-tails and was happy to find almost everything on my list. Friendly environment & great selection of food goods.

I love this place. Whenever I am looking for a new recipe or ingredient to try out, Gerard always has the best ideas. Stop in, browse, chat, and you WILL want to buy something delicious.

Traveled over an hour to come to, About Food. First time for me, but was welcomed by who seemed to be the owner. He was beyond kind to us and helped us/answered any questions we had. Ended up buying a unique hot sauce along with an Italian Ginger Beer Soda. About food seems to the only store that carries unique old, anything to do with food supplies. We will be back in the summer.

Totally charming little gourmet food store - if you can get there on a weekend when Gerald is there and he’s baked delicious peppery ficelles, you are in luck.

I love the artwork that is sometimes available! They make awesome presents!
