Sulton Uvays Ziyoratgokhi

Sultan Uwais Baba complex is an architectural monument in Beruni district, the structure was built by Sultan Muhammad Khorezmshah, but was demolished during the Mongol invasion. It was rebuilt by Khiva Khan at the beginning of the 19th century.
Sultan Uwais (genuine title Suhail ibn Amir ibn Ruman ibn Nahiya ibn Murad) was born within the Muradi tribe of the Qaran town of Yemen (in 625 AD). He was buried within the town of Safa in Syria. Sultan Uwais was engaged in collecting hadiths. Within the 17th century, his followers built a symbolic tomb (in present-day Beruni) and a holy place.
At the starting of the 19th century, Khan Eltuzar of Khiva built a new building. After that, the final building built on the mausoleum was built by Khiva Khan Allaquli (XIX century). Nowadays, the building is a complex with a well-developed framework: a mosque, a service complex, a "holy pool", shopping centers, restaurants. The mausoleum of Sultan Uvais-Baba was built in the traditional Khorezm architecture with brickwork. The complex is rectangular, oriented from north to south.
