Zgara Zaloshnja

A typical Albanian restaurant in the center of Berat with excellent typical dishes. I tried several different dishes from the grill. They were all excellent. The service was fast and friendly. Considering the busy day, the cold beer was a real refreshment. A nice stopover while wandering around Albania.

Such a great restaurant in the heart of Berat town; this place was recommended to us by our hosts from Guesthouse BellaVista and i have to say that we really enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant (which has so many objects from all over the world, probably results of travels) and also a great traditional menu! We have tried a few plates and shared them and I really enjoyed everything! Highly recommended :)

All I will do will be sharing the photos and you will feel the vibe of the place and taste of the food ;) we paid around 1500 LEKH for the food on the photo! :D prices were beyond reasonable!

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious 5 course dinner here and left very happy. The decor/ambiance of the place is very cozy as well. Highly recommend the soup, meatball in sauce, and grilled veggies.

The food was delicious, the people working there were very nice and able to answer some questions we had, and it was pretty and comfortable. They only accept cash, but are OK with Lek or Euros. It is set a bit back from the Boulevard Republika, so look for it between a couple of restaurants & bars. It has a bright green sign.

The atmosphere is really cozy and relaxing on the porch. There are a bunch of pet birds in cages that are a unique touch. If you are worried about the cages smelling it being dirty, don’t be. They were very clean. One bird was kind of noisy, so we switched from the table on the right (facing the restaurant) to the seat on the left.

We had the lamb ribs, llukanik sausage (beef sausage), qofte furre me salce (baked meat balls with sauce), stuffed peppers) and tzatziki. All of the dishes were very good. We ended with walnut rail, which is flavourful and I would say sweet like an amaro. We tried to get the goat ribs but they were out that night, so we had lamb instead. For the sausage we were asked if we wanted spicy or mild. We chose spicy. Do NOT be afraid of the spicy. It was not very hot.

The bonus was that one of the employees came out and spoke to us for about 20 minutes wholes we sipped our raki. He was a very nice young man. I feel like we were able to learn more about Albanian living from him. We really enjoyed the chat.

What else? They have a TV which they turned on so we could watch football (soccer) and they have fast wifi.

An excellent place. Service and food exceptional. We recommend lamb ribs, terracotta meat and three milk of dessert.

Very friendly service (rare in Albania....) - great food for very fair prices still. Could really recommend for anyone coming to Berat. Had the homemade qefte, souvlakia (shishkebab), venize, tomato salad, aubergine and pepper - all with Dessert but no drinks for 20€. Wow!

There are the usual vegetarian dishes but not that much different stuff. Desert tres leches is great.

Food and service are great!! Many vegetarian options.
As in many places in Albania, the dishes come with no sides though. So you probably have to order more than one dish per person

This is one of those- off the main strip- diamonds in the rough kind of place that only comes from a family run business. The kind of food that once discovered there is no reason to go to another place. After two meals during our one day in Berat we must admit it is probably the best example of the local cuisine prepared with care. Healthy and delicious.

Very good! Good food! Me and my girlfriend have eaten twice at this restaurant. The food is tasteful, not too spicy for the hot temperature conditions during the summer. Quality dishes. We liked especially the stuffed peppers, the cheese (also goat and sheep) and the cottage dish. Special rewards for Regi. He works there a lot, is very attentive and speaks his English very well. Definitely worth going there!

A place with an authentic and great atmosphere. The food is it good and you have to try the goat ribs! They are amazing 😋😋😋

The restaurant is cozy and decorated with lots of Albanian memorabilias, each of them a conversation topic. The Albanian dishes prepared with an elegant and modern twist by husband and wife chefs (and restaurant owners) kept coming and we just couldn't get enough! We asked for something warm in a cold November day and we're presented with a Michelin star vegetable soup! The hospitality is amazing; as the crowd was dwindling down, the chef came out to greet us and shared a few of his coulinsry secrets!
City of Berat is a gem on its own, a day trip one shouldn't miss when visiting Albania; as for me, next time I visit I'll be heading straight to"Zgara Zaloshnja"!

Great local food experience in the center of Berat. Nice family owned restaurant with authentic dishes. I had the köfte with sauce and some roasted vegetables and some nice white wine. Price quality was amazing!

Amazing experience! Food was delicious and prepared in a traditional way, meanwhile prices are very tourist-friendly. Even though we were in Berat for just 2 nights, we came back for the second time to get dinner. The restaurant’s staff are the kindest people and speak great English. Greetings to the sweet and smiley waitress from the Polish couple and the „dancing and laughing girl” :)

Great traditional restaurant with good food and lovely people. The ‘meatball’ (qofte) was especially good. And kudos for dealing with the short citywide power outage so well 👌🏻
