Komani Lake Holidays - Boat Tours in Komani Lake & Shala River

Eduart was very nice, he made us feel welcomed and provided the best experience in this beautiful lake. We were a group of 6 and he adapted the journey to our wishes and needs. I strongly recommend this boat trip, it was an amazing experience.

My family and I had an amazing experience using this tour company. Komani Lake is a must visit if you are in the north of Albania. The last portion of the road getting there is a little rough, but we were able to navigate it with a sedan, avoiding the large potholes. As for the boat ride, it offered breathtaking scenery, great opportunities for photos and drone shots, and the stop at Lumi Shales really topped it all off. I’m hoping that the government steps in to improve the infrastructure, such as the roads getting there and the docking area as well. It will only make the entire experience that much better. It is not fair to hold it against Komani Lake tours, it’s out of their control.

Do not recommend to go here, when its bad weather (We were on May). So it was cloudy and cold. Big thanks to the boat owner, that he waited for us. Unfortunatly here everybody poorly speaks english.

Me and my friend found the tour on Internet. Contacted Eduard by What's Up and received an answer very quickly. We didn't have an accommodation in Tirana booked and surprisingly Eduard suggested us to stay in his house for us to avoid inconvenience to drive into Tirana center. It was such a lovely evening with him, his sister and his nephew. We had full table of deliciuos homemade tasty food! Eduard's sister even gave us homemade fig jam (which we enjoyed every day after a tour:)) we would like to emphasize that driver was driving very safely. And we felt very comfortable in his car. Also the captain of the boat was nice guy and very skilled (the river was very shallow but he managed to take us to Shala river safely). Such nice views, relaxing boat trip, amazing hamake & drink experience :) we also appreciate for Eduard's hospitality - tasty coffee, cold beer :) we will recommend this tour to friends definitely!

I contacted Edwart via whatsapp initially thinking he also operates the ferry to Fierze. I didn't know that he didn't run that and did only the shala river tour. Despite this, Edwart was so sincere, he helped us plan the entire trip off season (in December) with no expectations. We did decide to do the Shala tour eventually, but this point out how kind he is, that he just wanted to help us irrespective of whether we were doing business with him or not. Edwart was kind enough to help us with the van from Tirana to Koman, stay at Koman, even helped us with food since we were vegetarian. Due to weather conditions, we couldn't travel to Valbona which was part of our initial plan which he also helped us with. He was kind enough to help us find a way back to Tirana as well.

About Shala river tour: This tour is on a boat that's long and probably not the fanciest, but to be honest that's part of the experience. Albania is still a developing country and for the prices they offer, it is not fair to complain about not getting "insta perfect" boats. Since we went in December, there was nobody else on the tour with us and it was amazing. I have never seen such stunning blue waters that were crystal clear. I don't think we would've gotten such a unique experience in summer. The views are absolutely breathtaking and I wouldn't be doing justice to this region if I compared it with anything else. It has an identity of its own. If you have time, I would 100% recommend taking a private tour with Edwart to the Shala river.

I could go on and on, but all I take away is that this is a memory we made of a lifetime and I am happy I we chose Edwart's services and had a great time with him. Can't wait to be back in summer again!

We had an enjoyable experience with Komani Lake holidays company. They were timely responsive to communication on WhatsApp. We booked a private tour and it was amazing as expected.
I recommend going to Shala river. But if you’re driving your way to Komani lake from Tirana please take care, it’s a very pumpy and curvy road that climb up and down the mountains. I had an adventurous experience but was tough. I may recommend you take a bus/ van through an agent.

We took two trips with Edward. Everything was handle by whatsapp. Shala’s River is amazing and we went into a albania family’s house, which was the cherry on the top of the cake.

Incredible sight and brilliant tour guides. While a slightly bumpy road into the lake it was well worth it for the views and the experience. We were given a bespoke individual tour which was tailored to the time we had. The boat was skillfully captained and we were shown hidden spots, amazing waterfalls and assisted with photos and ideas. They also had a great grasp on the history of the area which brought it to life.
Will definitely come back in the summer for a longer tour and to see the bat cave!

Wonderful experience in an amazing place!

Eduart was very nice to us, we had a great dinner with him and his friends and he provided us with a lastminute-solution for the night. The experience in the Shala river is very impressive and I think the private boat might be the best solution for small groups.

Shala River is such a beautiful natural location in Albania. It did not disappoint. Bring something warmer for the boat trip over in the morning as it can get chilly. The water felt pretty cold (to me) but plenty of people were swimming. The only downfall is that many of the food places didn’t serve food until after 12.30pm but most tours arrived by 10.30/11.00am. Water shoes help a lot with the walking across the rocks and pebbles.

The boattour itself was a great experience. Wonderful nature!
The organiser and the boat driver were nice. We started 10:15, had a smooth nice ride on the lake. At the river we had a 4 hrs stay. There you can eat and drink in various places. We were offered a free drink after returning to the starting point.

Notes to fellow tourists:
We came with our own car to the starting point and We had trouble with the road, it's extremely hard to ride. We could travel by 10km/h maximum ca 20km long. Also no parking space.. If you wanna spare this, take shuttle service!
In Albania ppl can smoke everywhere... on the boat, in the restaurant.. really everywhere. And they toss the cigarette-ends in the water! They don't respect nature. Rubbish is sadly everywhere.. bottles and plastic floating in the water and around the restaurants.. Sad to see this. No rules whatsoever.
Also they play very loud local music on the boats. Not everyone is happy about it.

Beautiful place but absolutely terrible staff and service. Don't go to ferry with your own car (especially when is low level of water), loading and unloading is completely unprofessional and you damage your car some way on 99%.
