Beautiful sight with breathtaking views! 600 Lek/person and easy to drive to. There are two restaurants, one next to the museum and the other one at the top where you can see the gorgeous valley below. But most importantly, there are currently three adult dogs and a puppy residing here at the museum/monastery that the guards are looking after. There aren’t any stores that sell dog food in the nearby village so if you love animals & want to help, please bring dog food or leave cash with the guards. The museum has a tiny stipend they a lot for dog food but it’s not enough. All the dogs are also very sweet. We brought 5,000 Leks worth of dog food & the guards were so happy that when we asked if they wanted us to pay the entrance fee, they said they should be paying us for all the dog food. The tallest guard inside the courtyard/museum seems to be the main caregiver & he’s so sweet. Totally worth the trip here for the history, nature & especially for the dogs (& occasional sheep grazing).

I loved being here at sunset for golden hour, what an experience! The grounds are beautiful and unlike some ruins throughout Europe, you can get very close to and really explore these vs look from afar. The museum had some really incredibly preserved artifacts, busts, and statues too. Kind staff, definitely worth a stop if you’re driving by and have 1-2 hours!

Amazing historical place with indoor museum. Full of ancient Greek artifacts and beautiful Byzantine monastery. There is so many stuff to see in museum and historical ruins to visit that it takes at least an hour and a half to cover everything. Plus there is a great view on Fier county from top of the hill. We were greeted by 2 adorable stray doggos as well.

Absolutely gorgeous views. Small but interesting museum. It was very cool to be able to join a medieval castle and ancient Helenistic period ruins. Ruffly 600

Good place to go to. Easy to find as it is signposted from the highway.
You drive through a small village before you arrive. Big car park with plenty of space.
It wasn't busy when we got there @ 11am

Apollonia was an Ancient Greek trade colony which developed into an independent polis, and later a Roman city, in southern Illyria. It was located on the right bank of the Aoös/Vjosë river, approximately 10 km from the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea.
Easy to reach ,spacious free parking ,a lot to see,the museum and amazing views all around )

Very beautiful ancient Greek city that dates back to the 6th century BC and is now a popular tourist attraction. I was impressed by the well-preserved ruins of this ancient city. The site is located in a peaceful, rural area with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The museum at the entrance provides plenty of information on the history of the city and the artifacts on display. However, some areas of the site were difficult to access, and the signage could have been clearer.

The very best archeological park. The museum was super ,with lots of antique pieces of art , pottery, working tools, sculptures and lots of other old objects found in the earlier times... The church was impressive and well managed. Because it was spring time I spent a great time in nature too in the booming fields , with trees and flowers. I had such a wonderful day ⭐⭐⭐

The displays were very informative, although they were not everywhere.

As a history lover (and archaeologist), I had the time of my life there.

Some excavated sites of the Ancient City of Appolonia (-Illyria). There are two restaurants on site and a big parking space. Entry Fee is 600lek for an Adult. There is also a museum with excavated objects ranging from the Mesolithic Era to the Roman Era. Can get hot during the day but there are many places where you can sit in the shade and enjoy a nice breeze.

I’m so glad our route took us past this site. From ancient artifacts to historical content, it was so worth the trip. Walk to the top of the hill for great views and a cold beer.
Entry is inexpensive and everything was open on the day we visited.

Terrific place for historians, archeologists and other interested people. Only 6% has been dug up of this city which once had around 60.000 inhabitants. A lot is beautifully preserved. Really worth the visit, we will absolutely come back!

Another of Albania's wonderful Archeological Parks. They are just the right size for a nice stroll. This one has a good museum in addition to the outdoor artifacts. Great way to enjoy a couple hours outdoors.

A nice place to spend and afternoon, dates back to 588BC. There's a restaurant at the very top but we didn't visit. Loads of parking and great for campers 👍

Need to buy tickets before entering the park, you get a map of the area but overall path signs are very lacking. There are nice ruins scattered all over the park and some abandoned military garages on a nearby hill. Also don't miss out on the caffe ontop of the nearby hill with amazing views and great garden decor.

The ticket is 6€ and there is a lot to visit. Apart from ruins you have a panoramic view to the seaside. You can see the excavation plots. There is a cafe and a museum with a rich exhibition. The story of Apolonia City is fascinating. Definitely recommend.

If you go in low season, I would suggest you to park just up the hill at the parking at the entrance where the security man is. Better than parking down next to the road and walk (10 mins.). Entrance: 600 L p.p. Very nice monastry and museum. The guy at the ticket entrance is very nice. Around 1.5h of visit needed.
