Valle De Las Animas

A top spot to visit if you havent got time to leave the city. Reading other reviews, there appears to be two different paths you can take. One is a long hike which takes you in a circuit around the valley (which we didnt do) and the other is simply to start at this location and follow the valley up. You can basically walk as far as you wish with most of the stunning rock formations only a short walk up. We walked for about 2 hours up to the point where the road ended and then back down. There are people who live around here, however noone asked for any money and it appeared quite a popular spot for locals to go for a picnic.

Have common sense and hire a guide. This place is super impressive and definitely worth a visit, I was torn about visiting it because of the bad reviews but the truth is that some places are meant to be visited with a guide and this is one of them. We went on a small group of 5 people and had zero issues. Our guide even helped us find amethyst crystals on the valley! We learned a lot about Aymara culture and legends surrounding this place and finished our tour at sunset with a small ceremony in honour of Pachamama. Truly magical ✨

Wow! a must do; incredible scenery and amazing vistas. An UBER from central La Paz was 70BS, the bus back only 2.50BS. There is little in the way of marked paths, we used an app called Wikiloc and a route posted by ‘colinjgyoung’. It’s a pretty tough 9km walk, heading uphill to over 4,500m then descending through valley. Be careful in rainy season; our walk was put hold for two hours as a flash flood washed away the entire path!! The flood water eventually subsided and we were able to rock hop our way down the river (which in hindsight was a lot of fun), but at the time we were slightly concerned we’d be spending the night on the mountain!!

A beautiful hike in an amazing landscape, very close to LA Paz! If you have a day and do not want yo visit the very turistic attractions and you look for some adventure, then Valle De Las Animas is the place you are looking for! Take the bus 42 from the center, San Francisco Square, to Chasquipampa, ask the driver he will leave you at ther right spot! It can be an adventurous day! You have two possibilities, or make a round 3 hrs hike with some spectacular views in the valley, or walk In the canyon , witch is also beautiful!

Very good place to track, very peaceful environment. Whenever you get chance visit there once atleast.

It's a beautiful, spectacular area with lots of hiking trails, relatively close to the central part of the La Paz.

Busses to the canyon leave from Plaza de San Francisco, but you can also catch a bus on Avenida 6 de Agosto. Look for a sign "Ovejuyo" on the windscreen. The fare we paid (from Sopacachi) was 2.60 BOL per person. On the way back, we took again a minivan, but got out near Teleferico Station Irpavi (the minibus travels on Avenida Ballivan, which is only two blocks from the teleferico station) to enjoy the views while getting back to Sopacachi (Prado station).

The main access points are the Quebrada Ovejuyo and the Quebrada Negra. Most routes includes one of these canyons. Both canyons are beautiful, but we slightly preferred Negra above Ovejuyo as it is narrower and therefor more impressive.

Incredible landscape. Easy to get there yourself but it is a bit of a strain with the altitude. Take the Puma Katari bus to the final stop and walk 10 minutes or so to the entrance of the park.

Of course you can do it alone, but local people will know where to take the most scenic pictures, and it is so cheap...

There are many ways to go there, the 1°by Uni (the 42bus go there). Or by the 42 Ovejuyo neighborhood.

非常像但影魔戒魔多的地方，喜歡攝影的話這邊非常適合拍照，可以搭乘公車，但我們是搭纜車到綠線終點後，再計程車直接到達入口處，可以避免街道上的野狗，而且不需要多爬公車站到入口這一段爬坡，回程下坡輕鬆搭乘計程車即可
