Don’t open an account at Scotiabank the customer service is unhelpful Wether you call the branch or the main customer service line all they do is provide basic information totally useless go to TD or RBC

I do NOT recommend this bank. They claim that your personal info is "safe and secure", it's NOT. That is a BIG fat lie. I've received a letter in the mail that stated my personal info was STOLEN by a Scotiabank EMPLOYEE. By personal info I'm talking my name, home address, SIN, account numbers and account balances. I've been a customer for 30 years and I've closed my account. Trust is permanently broken. Can't do business with a bank who betrayed my trust.

This is by far the worst bank I have ever dealt with. This was my partner's bank before we combined our finances. Any time we had to interact with them they were so condescending and unhelpful to her. When I went with her to sort things out they would completely ignore her and only talk to me. (Note that it wasn't even my account!)

They did nothing but make her feel naive and frustrated when in reality it was the banks incompetence. Some of the staff are very nice and do their jobs as best they can, but from what I can tell there is some serious problems with how this institution is managed. I would avoid this bank at all costs, especially if you are a woman because the difference with how my partner and I are treated is infuriating. Every step of the way at this bank has been slow and painful.

Terrible customer service and extremely unqualified for their jobs. I have been dealing with fraud for almost two months and they simply refuse to help me with the issue at hand. The two tellers I have encountered seemed confused and lost when told the issue showing they are unqualified to deal with these situations. I also spoke with one of the managers on and she quite frankly blamed me for my issue and told me she couldn't help me. When calling the customer service line they claimed they did not understand the issue on why I was not able to be helped at this branch as all I needed was a new card. As anyone would understand it is extremely hard being a university student and having no money whatsoever for almost two months makes life impossible. The absence of communication between Scotiabank and its Antigonish branch is evidently clear. I have never encountered such confusion at any other branches.

For anyone interested in booking an appointment, please be aware that the Scotiabank call centre appears to communicate very ineffectivly with the local Antigonish branch, if any communication takes place at. After making a booking over the phone with the call centre, when I showed up for the booking, I was told the centre was completely wrong and should not have booked me and that they were not taking in-person appointments because of COVid 19.
That would have been nice to know before I booked my fake appointment.

Awful costumer service. Made an appointment to open an account and when I arrived simply 'wasn't in their system'. There was no attempt to rectify the issue that was their problem in the first place. Thank goodness I don't have an account there and now never will.
