The staff was friendly and attentive. The seating was comfortable and the ambience warm. The food was excellent! I had the beef gulasch as did my grandaughter who loved it too.

We LOVED our lunch a couple weeks ago. The beef goulash with spaetzli was tender and delicious. And the side 1/2 German salami sandwich on homemade bread was as good. We also enjoyed some treats from their bakery. And we really loved the sour cherry cheese Danish and wheat bread from the Halifax Farmer's Market a few days later. Super friendly people at the restaurant and market!

Owners are the real deal. The food served is the real deal. With the rich sweet aromas swirling thru the Annapolis air, I drifted back to a time when I was in Frankfurt Germany for a very short 6 years. As soon as I saw the exterior of the restaurant, the architecture/decor distinctly stood separately from the neighboring buildings; it is typical German style from the tables with umbrellas and a surrounding picket fence that gives customers that feeling of belonging to a new cultural experience. When I stepped thru the entrance, my olfactory senses lost its mind. The breads, the stews, the schnitzels, the wursts and the sweets played with my every compulsion. Beir, Der Erdinger Dunkel smeckt sehr gut. Order one (or two only if you're walking and not driving). The alcohol content is not that of Black Label or an Evian water. I'm absolutely envious of the locals who can return again and again. My next visit will be an extremely long (1yr or 2) and a painful wait.

Go. Go now! Enjoy life. Enjoy a great German meal prepared with love.

We stopped in here while staying at the Milford Place cabins!
It did not disappoint!
We truly cannot say enough good things. The food, the service, the baked goods!
My son couldn't get enough of their pretzels with butter! We loved it so much we came back the following day!
I had the schitzle on a kaiser bun and today the German sausage on a kaiser bun! Delicious! My husband had the sausage! 10 out of 10! Can't wait to be back again 😊

Plain schnitzel, which is a German pork. Absolutely wonderful! Potato soup was also full of so many great flavors. 👍🏻

We loved our lunch here during our 1st trip to NS. The food was definitely cooked to order with love & attention. We thoroughly enjoyed the schnitzel, which was fork tender and the fried potatoes were seasoned to perfection..yum and the most delicious salmon sandwich served on bread that we could eat until we popped it was soo good! Susannah was very friendly and so funny we totally enjoyed visiting with her. She made the perfect wine & beer suggestions based on what we told her we like as well as our food selections. After a very leisurely unhurried lunch and chatting on & off with Susannah we couldn't resist having a sweet treat from their delicious display of homemade pastries, even though we were stuffed from our excellent meal and we're glad we split the strudel..yum! We couldn't leave without 2 molasses cookies, like we had when we were little, which were scrumptious even the next day! The obvious care they take to present authentic, delicious German food is evident in every bite. Highly recommend stopping here when in Annapolis Royal, right across from the beautiful Ft Anne walking are and help support a local family business. Thank you to Susannah and her Mom for making our visit memorable.

Went to check this place out while working in the area. Got there just before the rush. It’s a small family owned business. I went for the German wiener / sauerkraut. Wow amazing I’m a huge fan of sauerkraut but never had it with bacon bits and warm. Delicious. Tried two of the pastries as well both were good. The restaurant is well maintained and very cute. The price was a bit high but worth it. I had such a good well balanced meal feeling in my stomach and I’ll always pay for that feeling. High recommend if you want some nice German food

What an amazing, mouth-watering, delicious experience this was! It was the first time I had ever been there, my boyfriend had been before and said as we started on our vacation, he wanted to take me there for lunch! We were greeted by whom I believe was the owner, she was pleasant, funny and welcoming! We sat outside and ordered beer and wine and our food. I felt so fancy sitting on a patio, breeze blowing, ordering a glass of wine with my love, on a Tuesday afternoon! I never really get to do those kind if things! I ordered the paprika schnitzel with sauerkraut and potatoes and my boyfriend had the gulash with spatzel...omg! Amazing! Authentic, flavourful, and fresh! We then had a delicious dessert of some sort of sour cherry and raspberry danish which we devoured before I could even snap a picture. They were amazeballs! We then proceeded to head out with an assortment of cookies for our trip! Which...all were a delicious flavor adventure! We will be back again and again! Every mouth and belly deserves to taste the food and experience the atmosphere that this little gem is offering!

Outstanding. Like stepping into your German grandmothers kitchen. Everything is homestyle and authentic. You can taste the natural ingredients in every dish. The price of the dishes reflect the quality of skill and ingredients that go into them. Combine the cuisine with some authentic German ale and you’re in for a serious food coma. I’ve almost fallen asleep on the patio at times.

Susanne has served us many times with the kindest of service and delightfully dry sense of humour. We try to come from Halifax once a year specifically for this experience.

They have a warm, inviting atmosphere and delicious fresh food! It's authentic German cuisine, made in house. Sandwiches are served on freshly baked bread and rolls. They have many choices of sandwiches, dinners, and snacks. We didn't have to wait very long for our food considering they were a bit busy when we arrived. I had the schnitzel sandwich, the schnitzel was the perfect size for the roll and the Kaiser roll tasted very fresh. It was a nice amount of food for lunch. The only drawback is that the prices are pretty high for what you get. Lunches are $10-$15 for a sandwich with no sides. Larger meals range from $15-$25. But if you're in the area, I would recommend you check it out!

Had lunch with my Mum. We had the schnitzel sandwich, mine with panfried potatoes and mum with potato salad. We loved the food, it was delicious. It was a busy Saturday afternoon, but we had great service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes German cuisine.

Schnitzel was great and so was the service. A great stop for lunch at Annapolis Royal. Our dog was allowed on the patio. There are plenty of baked goodies too!

This place is the best with very friendly service. It always feels like visiting family whenever we stop by for some currywurst and a pretzel, of course accompanied by a German beer or two! Not to mention all of the amazing pastries and desserts, including this wonderful chocolate birthday cake made on very short notice.

I would come back to Annapolis Royal just to eat here again. Like the sign on the wall says, Bread is Life!

We are currently eating here as I type. Everyone is so pleasant and friendly as well as the food being amazing. Worth the price. We live 2 hours away, but will return again.

We stopped in for a quick snack (baked goods) in Mid January which is off-season for Annapolis Royal but Susanne greeted us and showed us the Menu upon our Arrival! We decided to stay for lunch and each had a delicious meal (German Salami for myself, and Vegetables & Cheese for my wife).

We had a couple of baked goods for dessert, and we got more baked goods to take home with us.

As it was mid-afternoon, we were thankful they were open for business and thankful the food was fantastic!

Susanne took very good care of us while we were there!

Stopped for Saturday morning coffee while on a motorcycle tour. We ended up having their breakfast and way too much pastry. The breakfast was very tasty and the pastry absolutely the best quality. The menu was extensive and very German. The variety of pastry would put a big city bakery to shame. The service was very good and everyone was very friendly. we ate on the beautiful little patio fitted with comfortable chairs and table with a umbrella. Everything was clean as a whistle. Parking is on the street. Top rating and highly recommend.

I have been visiting this bakery since I returned to Nova Scotia in 2015. Family run business with authentic German, Saxon food. Server was very good at making a suggestion. I'll be back
