Occidental Tamarindo

Rooms are slightly outdated but regardless we received good service from all the staff. They were happy to help and to accommodate our demands. Lots of wildlife in the area which is fun to spot as a foreigner. Did not expect it to be super fancy but still had an amazing trip! Food was tasty as well, except for maybe the snack bar.

Recently stayed here for a week for my daughter’s wedding. Rooms are clean and serviced daily. Staff are all very polite and friendly. Huge pool area with lots of poolside recliners. Large beach area with recliners beneath palm trees. Some sandy beach area but some rocky areas. Walk across a small stream, ankle to knee depth to get to a huge sandy beach. Amazing sunsets!

Food is good with 2 specialty restaurants. Drinks are very good. Bartenders are excellent. Bar fridge in room is restocked daily . Easy 15 walk into downtown. Taxi is $6.

Such a beautiful location! Amazing beach for surfing! Access to the beach is fantastic. Food is so good, pool and hot tub are wonderful. Really enjoyed live music . The picture is the view from the Pavillion of the beach. So worth it!

My first time in Costa Rica. Really enjoyed Occidental Tamarindo. The staff was friendly and fun. Daniella is fun to play crib against and aqua size in the pool..
Felix served us well and the entertainment staff did a great job.

This is a wonderful place to stay by the ocean. The food menu is very tasty. There are some bars outside the hotel, walkable distance. People are so fun. I will definitely come back.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here. There was a few hiccups at first but both Margerie and David were great and made sure we enjoyed our stay. In addition the workers are extremely hard working and try to provide a great experience!

I would note that if you are expect a top notch 5 star hotel like in the Caribbean you will be disappointed. The grounds are outdated and the rooms need a makeover. The biggest downside is there is no drinking (not even water) anywhere near the pool! Overall we would come back and think you'll enjoy stay as long as you go in understanding how the hotel is.

All the workers are very nice and help full the resort could have a few more activities threw out the day the food is very good here

I came to visit Occidental in March of 2023. I went with my daughter who was 15. I was looking for a safe place to bring her. This place did not disappoint. The room we had was awesome and super clean, pool was so nice, ocean was wavy and beautiful. Service was not the friendliest, but that’s ok. Food was ok, it was edible but not amazing. Which is fine, you can walk or take a taxi into town. I’m really hoping to return here in the Spring, I hope to have a bit more better treatment. But if you’re looking for a small & clean resort then you will love this place. Highly recommend.

My recent stay at Occidental Hotel, Tamarindo Costa Rica was a memorable stay thanks in large part to the incredible entertainment staff.It was obvious that their priority was ro ensure that guests had a memorable experience filled with fun.

The entertainment staff were truly exceptional. They were always full of energy and enthusiasm, organizing a variety of activities and events throughout the day to keep guests entertained. Whether it was poolside games, aquasize, ping pong, evening shows, or dance classes, there was never a dull moment.

The team took the time to interact with guests, getting to know them and ensuring that everyone felt included and engaged. Their friendly and outgoing personalities created an atmosphere that made it easy to relax and have a great time. Shout out to Hairo Daniela and Felix in particular for the fun engagement.

Overall, I cannot say enough positive things about the entertainment staff. Their commitment to providing exceptional service and creating a fun-filled atmosphere made my stay truly enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable experience.

We had a great week and the Occidental Tamarindo. The managers were very helpful and ensured that our stay was wonderful. It is at a great location at the south end of Tamarindo. It's beautiful beaches and sunsets were amazing!

We traveled here as a group in July (basketball players, men & women's teams). The service was incredible, food was delicious and very fresh with variations during our stay. Activities throughout the day. About a mile walk into town. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Spa was a lovely experience. Overall, we had a blast! We all want to go back!

It's a very relaxing place to spend your vacation. Emmanuel from the front desk was very accommodating, being that I have multiple surgeries and severe sciatica. He made sure that my room is on the first floor, and is close to everything. He also went out of his way to help me get a refund on the error I made double booking my transportation to and from the airport.
I love that they have a wide selection of food to choose from, and fresh fruits in every meal. The housekeeper meticulously cleans and replenishes all the toiletries. The grounds keeper are so sweet, politely greeting us good morning, every time he sees us. This hotel have a 24hour on call maintenance that quickly responded to my emergencies, like me, pressing the wrong code and locking my safe, the card reader to the door to my room stopped working. I love the speedy attention, and the front desk following up, making sure that my needs are addressed in a timely manner. Thanks to Caroline from the front desk, that calls me daily to inquire if everything in my room was ok.
I love that this hotel has daily water aerobics exercises, thanks to Bryan and the rest of the entertainment staff. Thanks to Junior the bellhop and all of the chefs and waiters and waitresses for being so pleasant and and always with a smile.

We are here just now and prior to coming I had read some reviews that weren’t very positive, I did have my concerns! The hotel and our holiday has been fantastic - food, staff, room, cleanliness, location, beach etc etc all great - thank you so much. We are having such a lovely, relaxed time - we will be back for sure!

Occidental Tamarindo the best experience we love to Hairo and Daniela they are awesome, Felix is so cute with good drinks, wonderful shows, thank Costa Rica

My two friends and I didn't actually stay at the hotel, but we rented boards from their beachfront board shop.

Board rental was $15/board, which was a little more than we had been expecting, but the staff who rented us the boards threw in a boogie board for free! The hotel manager also let us store our bags at the hotel while we surfed which we really appreciated.

All of the staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and kind!

Everything here was so wonderful! The beach was gorgeous, the drinks delicious, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms clean and cozy. Thank you for making our honeymoon incredible!

Had a very nice stay at the Occidental Tamarindo. The food buffet was okay but that’s really the only con I had. The best pro is the location and how close it is to the town of Tamarindo.

All good, fun activities especially with Hairo great food, great staff, very relaxing
