The Red Sunset of Guanacaste

The Red Sunset at Guanacaste is spectacular! The house itself has six bedrooms, each with air conditioning and an en suite bathroom. Some are family rooms, featuring a queen bed and bunkbeds, one with two queen beds, some more private with only one queen bed. The hand painted tiles throughout the house, comfortable living room, large dining room, and full-service kitchen make this a very comfortable place for a group of any size - from 2-20 people! A large, yummy breakfast is included each day (eggs, potatoes, meat, fresh fruit, smoothies, coffee and a bread item - french toast/waffles/pancakes.) Patrick and his family/team are the consummate hosts; he will help you plan your activities daily, make reservations when required, and arrange transportation. Patrick told us the best places to eat (you HAVE to go to Gingerbread!), best places to visit, and had the pool/hot tub/ pool table/expansive porch for the day we decided to stay back at the house and relax. DEFINITELY, stay here when you go the Lake Arenal area!

One of our most memorable stays throughout Latin America. Sorry for the late review 😂. We love your place and still talk about it throughout our travels. You are surrounded by the cloud forest with the beautiful panoramic view of the valley and lake. Wildlife comes to your doorstep as you drink your morning coffee. Simply magical! Would strongly recommend! Also I might add take his recommendations Patrick knows what's good! PS. The oropendula bird was amazing to see!

Our 2-night stay (4 adults, 3 children) at The Red Sunset was spectacular. Immediately on arrival, as we were standing out on the balcony/porch overlooking the trees, valley and lake, two large green parrots perched on a close tree. In the distance, piercing the otherwise peaceful silence (except for birds), we could hear Howler Monkeys in the trees. That was quite a welcome to Costa Rica. Patrick and his team could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The house and grounds are beautiful and the pool house was such a welcome respite after a long active day hiking in Mistico and zip-lining at Sky Trek (both of which Patrick set up for us). Breakfast each day was amazing and filling. We thoroughly enjoyed the mornings on the porch as the cloud forest clouds rolled by. The one dinner we did, a very generous Tico meal, was one of the most delicious meals we’ve ever had. Really. Our last night there, we did the night hike with Crazy Allen, which was a fun an educational ending to our time at Red Sunset. Patrick also set up our fantastic dinner (with amazing views) on the lake at Tinajas Arenal, as well as the not-to-be-missed Don Olivio coffee, chocolate, and fruit tour. Patrick really is perfect combination of host and concierge. Note: I flew my drone to TRY to capture some of the beauty of the environment.

There are 5 bedrooms in the building. A huge living room and dining-room. A big kitchen and a panoramic terrace in the main building. Off the side, if you walk down a short path you’ll find an indoor swimming pool, a hot tube and some gym equipment. Including a spinning bike, a pool table, foosball table and a massage table.
Patrick the owner, and his wife are the best hosts. The Bnb included breakfast for the whole time we stayed at the place. Every day it was different and delicious. Patrick helped us organising our daily tours and gave us tips on places to visit.
Highly recommended if you wish to spend few days in the rain forest area, around Lake Arenal and Volcano Arenal.

Fantastic location and the meals are amazing. Breakfast every morning prepared by friendly local staff.
You can not beat the view of the lake Truly everything we hoped it would be.
Patrick is very helpful if you need some guidance in things to do in the area.

Incredible home with a pool, hot tub, amazing views of Lake Arenal and the volcano. The staff is friendly and cooks AMAZING breakfast and traditional Costa Rican fare casado. I highly recommend requesting the home cooked dinner.

Extraordinary place to stay with a big group of family or friends. The owners have an amazing costumer service. Breakfast is delicious. The house is clean, neat and has everything you need to enjoy your vacation.

Everything from the service to the pool is super nice. It's a big house and it's really cozy. Patrick the owner is also very nice and can recommend good places to visit and eat local food!

This place is amazing. The views are great. The provided breakfast is by far some of the best I have ever had. The owners are extremely nice and helpful.
