I have been teaching at Journey School of Costa Rica for almost two years and couldn't be happier. The commitment to social-emotional learning, and the engaging approach to PBL create a dynamic and inspiring educational atmosphere. The supportive community adds another layer of positivity, making it a fulfilling place to work and learn.

We are so grateful for the impact that Journey school has had on our kindergartener! Not only are the academics on point (which is a minimum for us!), but the teachers (and all the staff!) are a dream come true. My son’s social skills and emotional awareness have improved dramatically. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend this school to anyone!

Our search for the right school ended when we discovered Journey School of Tamarindo. With one child in elementary and another in high school, our needs were diverse, but Journey has exceeded our expectations in every way.

When we came to Journey, we found not just a bilingual school with a holistic approach to learning, but a school that catered to the diverse learning needs of both of our children and provided a comprehensive education that has not only prepared our oldest child for university but has also fostered their competitiveness, versatility, and critical thinking skills.

One of the most compelling aspects of Journey for us is their unwavering commitment to addressing bullying. After a distressing experience with our previous school due to bullying and a lack of appropriate intervention, we were deeply impressed by Journey’s proactive approach to creating a safe and inclusive environment. It's truly heartening to witness the effectiveness of the school’s anti-bullying initiatives, which has contributed significantly to our children's sense of security and well-being.

The teaching faculty here are more than just educators; they're mentors. The bilingual, project-based curriculum not only boosts language skills but also fosters a deeper understanding of subjects. And our kids' unique learning styles are embraced, making their school experience truly meaningful.

Another thing that sets Journey apart is the warmth of the entire staff. It's clear they're here for the students, way beyond their roles and my husband and I are so grateful to each one of them.

And the new campus is absolutely gorgeous and keeps getting better. The variety of extracurricular activities, like skateboarding (my daughter’s favorite), adds a unique dimension to learning.

We also feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Journey community – it really is more like a family. The sense of belonging is strong, and it's something we value immensely, and we’ve all made true, lifelong friends.

In all honesty, we couldn't be happier. Journey isn't just a school; it's a place where our children are thriving academically, emotionally, and socially. If you're seeking a school that genuinely cares and prepares students for a competitive, well-rounded future, Journey is the way to go. Our family highly recommends it.

I have been an employee for the past 8 years. Ranging from Seattle to Texas to now Arizona. I believe in Journey Schools mission to provide the best education experience for each child. The foundation of social emotional learning is so important and is a topic I am very passionate about. Paired with the child led curriculum and outdoor play, it is a safe haven for all learners! My son attends and is in a one year old classroom and I don’t ever see him going anywhere else. I am thankful schools like this exists and to be a part of it.

Great teachers and staff, amazing community, Journey School of Costa Rica is a blessing for our family. Also, the new campus is stunning, modern and tropical. Love all the sports available, from soccer to basketball, skate, beach volleyball and parkour.

Online saviors during the covid pandemic. Organized, caring and safe environment for kids and families. Teachers are helpful and available. Communication was clear without overwhelming. My daughter loves it here and looks forward to attending full classes when it opens. Christa is an amazing leader from whom I have learned so much regarding conscious discipline and the school family. Fantastic!

If you are a parent and you are looking for a safe school where they do not tell you that your child has "problems" without being a doctor or pediatrician, then this school is not for you…. this school has many philosophies that they supposedly follow, but it was totally the opposite. When I took my 3-year-old son, the director was quite contemptuous of us. Pushing past that going on a tour we visited the preschoolers class dome is what I would classify it and it was hot and smelled like dirty diapers. We let our son enter the stink dome to play and afterwards, my son was throwing a tantrum because he did not want to go and the Director basically told me that my son had problems and that they were not properly equipped to handle a child like mine and they did not accept children like mine… What is disappointing to see is schools like this are charging 800$ on up which is some money to treat your children with discrimination and lack of patience. When speaking of options she was quick to tell me to take my son back to America because there were many option to treat a children like mine there. By the way my son is Costa Rican and belongs in this country rather than a School that caters to non Costa Rican Citizens. Now with this terrible experience I end up at the local Skate Shop to buy school shoes which he has great selection and he told me that the local schools are way better than the private schools here, and would recommend it hand down. So we went to the local school and they welcomed us with open arms and you can feel the care and see it. True Pura Vida for children. The school always smells
Clean and very nice for the children and the teacher is amazing!!The local cen school is amazing my son was accepted into the public system here in Costa Rica, which has specialist nutritionists and a whole team of TRUE DOCTORS and professionals at the children's disposal … They prepare fresh food daily for the children and he eats it every time.apart from paying all that money for a hot smelly capsule where you didn't even have a floor and want to get paid hundreds of dollars is not worth it ! I can only imagine what is going on when your not around if they don’t like your child. Go local that’s why you live here and don’t be shy they schools are great here! If you think transcripts are the problem to transfer to the USA school system it’s not every school is the same don’t get scammed thinking USA ACCREDITATION MEANS SOMETHING IT DOESNT. All schools are the same to transfer to the USA. Call your school in the USA and find out for yourself.
