I cannot say enough good things about Cavallini vet. I was on vacation in Tamarindo, and found a VERY pregnant dog on the streets. She was so friendly, clearly a pet someone disposed of - and I just couldn't leave her. I showed up to Cavallini vet with her the following morning with no appointment, and they got her in immediately and after some slight begging on my part. They quickly ran some tests, got her cleaned up, and agreed to take her in. I am SO incredibly grateful for their help. She ended up safely delivering 4 puppies roughly 8 hours after I took her in. Cavallini and their rescue Halfway Home went above and beyond with her care, and even kept me updated along the way with photos of the puppies and her recovery. I don't live in Costa Rica, but if I did - I would take my beloved pets here in a heartbeat! Thank you again for being so gracious. 10/10 would recommend!

After finding a dog on the beach in Costa Rica with a broken leg dangling limply at his side. We brought the dog to Cavallini, a local vet, and they performed orthopedic surgery on the pup. Cavallini was very helpful and gracious towards us and the pup! Highly recommended! Tito is doing great!! Thank you, Cavallini!

Staff super friendly and professional. Perfect English speakers if needed too. Best bet I've come across in this area. Had a very unpleasant experience with the Dogtor, which couldn't care less. Didn't interact with the dog or answer my questions about their products while they watched shows on there phones unfortunately. This made it an easy choice to go with Cavallini, which is spectacular 🐕🐕‍🦺🐶🐾🐩👍🏻👍🏻

I think Eveline is the most experienced veterinarian in the area. They carry high-end dog and cat food and are able to get international papers to travel with your pet. I recommend for any of your veterinary needs.

My new favorite Veterinary hospital! Our Aussiedoodle, Bailey, started obsessively chewing on her paws within a week of our move to Costa Rica. Dr. Cavallini knew immediately that Bailey's skin, especially the area around her paws, which always seems wet from hiking and trips to the beach, was reacting to the humid weather and causing the itching and irritability. We were given a special shampoo, which we used immediately when we arrived home. Our dog already seems more comfortable and hasn't chewed on her feet once, since we've followed Dr. C's recommendations. We were also given additional advice on the many other potential problems, like Cane toads, that our dog may experience while living in CR.

Dr. Cavallini and staff are friendly, professional, and were able to communicate easily with us, despite our limited ability to speak Spanish. I highly recomment this veterinary hospital to anyone who loves and cares for a pet. It is extremely reassuring to know that we can continue to receive superior veterinary services in Costa Rica.

We used this vet to give our Yorkie (Kujo) his examination so that he could return to the United States with us after spending a few months in Costa Rica.

I called ahead in an effort to make an appointment for this purpose. When I called, they told me that I did not need an appointment. They told me to come in a few days before our flight, put our name on the list, and wait for our inspection.

This plan worked well, with only a very small hiccup. The process was relatively quick and painless (for me AND Kujo). After everything was done (on Tuesday afternoon) they sent me on my way and said "The doctor will need to sign your paperwork, and he will not be in the office until Friday or Saturday. We will call you when the paperwork has been signed, or perhaps you could just stop by on the way to the airport."

Since flying with Kujo is more stressful than managing the Fukushima nuclear reactor just after the earthquake but before the eventual meltdown, I was unwilling to chance it. I needed to know that the paperwork was in order BEFORE the day of my flight. Since the paperwork must be signed within 7 days of my flight, the "trust us, everything will be just fine" plan adds a little bit of stress to the situation.

After all was said and done, the paperwork was signed and ready a couple of days before we flew. As seems to happen most often in Costa Rica, all of the pieces fell into place just in time.

This is a good vet with attentive and bilingual staff. If your companion animal needs a checkup before your flight and you live within 30 minutes of Tamarindo, this is the place to go.

Had my little girl dog 'fixed'. They did the job well and she healed quickly. They also sell healthy dog and cat foods, Dog crates and Pet Toys.

The best, most caring, most incredible veterinarian you could ever hope for. Dr Francela and Dr. Cavallini are true angels. We’ll be forever grateful for the care we received here; for saving our dog’s life; for the love and compassion we were shown throughout the entire experience. Truly lucky to have found such an amazing animal hospital. A thousand times — thank you.

Dr. Cavallini is arguably one of the best vets in the country. Not only does he have tremendous experience with pets, he also runs an animal rescue, which deals with virtually every animal species in Costa Rica. If you’re looking for a vet who truly cares about animals, Dr. Cavallini’s office will exceed your expectations.

Doctor Cavallini helped our dog with an emergency, basically saved her on our first day in Costa Rica. At the same time he was prompt, friendly, professional and he spoke perfect English and even pretty good Italian!!
