Montana De Fuego hotel

Beautiful hotel! It’s located right across the volcano with the most beautiful view. The entire staff was super helpful and sweet and more than willing to help us with whatever we needed. The breakfast every morning was delicious with lots of choices. We had our two toddlers with us and they absolutely loved it! The natural hot springs pools were so fun as well as the regular pools. Can’t say a thing bad about the place.

I had a little bungalow to myself which was very nice. Lisette (?) did a great job cleaning my room daily and making me fancy animals out of towels... The pool bar was a good place to hang out and thank you to Walter for his information about Costa Rica as I sat there writing in my journal. Also Janice at the front desk was very helpful. Breakfast every morning was wonderful - helpful waiters 👍 this is a very nice place to stay. Thank you very much to my travel agent Chris. Good job!

Super nice staff, beautiful location. We had a stunning view of the volcano from our bungalow. The bungalows are beautiful and very generous size. Lots of nature and trails, and horseback riding right across the street. We took an all day horseback ride up the volcano arranged by the resort. The food was excellent, beautiful dining room with floor to ceiling wall to wall glass windows for an amazing view.

Very beautiful hotel. Our room was in need of a refurb, but you can't expect too much. Fabulously situated. Right in front of the magnificent Arenal Volcano. Special mention to Jorge, Evelyn and Stephanie. All the other staff were lovely, helpful and efficient. Hope they found the owner of the young Dog that wanted us to adopt him. Followed us everywhere. Wish we could have kept him...

My family had two amazing rooms at Montaña de Fuego! The rooms were gorgeous and the view was even more so! The service from Janice and others at the front desk was so kind and personable, they helped us with our MANY questions, as this was our first stop in Costa Rica. The restaurant on site had a really delicious dinner menu that we had twice. And the buffet breakfast had a good variety. We would definitely stay here again!

We went to this eco lodge during the off season and loved it here. Perfect location right at the base of Arenal Volcano. Gorgeous view every morning. The breakfast was fantastic. All the employees were friendly and spoke at least some English. Highly recommend. I look forward to returning.

This was beautiful! The staff was so friendly and helpful, especially in helping us to plan excursions. There was a problem with our transportation and they jumped right in to help. The room was simple but very private, tasteful and comfortable. The weather was cloudy so we only saw the volcano at night, but that is just the way the cookie crumbles when you travel during the rainy season! The restaurant was also incredible; the breakfast buffet was a great way to start the day. You should definitely check this place out!

We were here in January - February 2023. We loved this place so much. Really enjoyed the breakfast. Being able to see Arenal from my shower window was amazing!! We will stay here again.

Honest Review:

My stay at this hotel was just perfect!
The workers are incredibly friendly and they have loooottts of activities to do on-site. One thing to note is the front desk lobby isn't open 24/7, however they do have a number you can call for someone to come and help incase it's an emergency (possibly lost room key). The room is nothing special honestly and there were a few bugs which I killed with bug spray(bring bug spray of course!), but it's expected since you're surround by nature. So if you can't stand a single or a few bug or flys then this place might not be for you. The view from the room is amazing though! I could see so much trees and grass and land and I even saw some toucans fly across from tree to tree. Also one thing to note there is no wifi in the rooms, you would have to go to the main lobby entrance for wifi. The food that they serve was amazinggg as well! And you get a great view of the volcano from the dinning area as well! They also have a hiking trail which you could see monkeys, toucans, and sloths if you're lucky (I only saw toucans and went for 10mins just for 1 day). They also have a main pool and jacuzzi as well as 3 little secluded pools surrounded by trees and grass. Overall my stay Here was so amazing I could go on and on and on about the place here. I would reccomned it to everyone to try it and would definelty come here again!

Very simple.... the views are breathtaking 😍 ✨..... we tried the spa, and the two ladies there are excellent, Carla and kenia kudos for you, breakfast buffet delicious, please treat nicely the stray dogs and cats from the area as this are part of the experience.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in mid-September and couldn't have had a more wonderful time. The staff is so nice and helpful, the grounds are beautiful, and the rooms were exactly what we needed at the end of a long day of activities. We particularly enjoyed the daily towel animals on our bed (we were celebrating our anniversary), the delicious breakfasts (shout out to the gallo pinto and the omelet station), the wonderful massages in the spa, and the relaxing thermal pools. There is no wifi in the rooms or the grounds (except the lobby and restaurant), but it was really great to disconnect. We would 10 out of 10 recommend this hotel again. Thank you MDF!!

Every morning we woke to the sunrise on the Volcano. We had a standard bungalow with plenty of room, clean, unworn furniture and bedding. We shared no walls with any other guests. The birds and howler monkeys serenaded us in the morning and frogs sang us to sleep. The thermal pools and volcanic mud were enchanting and never too busy. We always could find one to have to ourselves. The staff was very paciente & friendly. They helped us check in with our tour group not associated with them, they help us book more excursions, they helped me drive to pick up my mother when she walked too far and couldn’t make it back to the hotel. We could not have had a better experience.

We stayed at Montana de Fuego in July of 2022. We had two bungalows, a standard bungalow that faced Arenal Volcano and a superior bungalow that had breathtaking views of rolling hills. The rooms & bathrooms were pretty standard. The breakfast was good with a buffet full of options. We spent a lot of time at the pool and hot springs. They had a all you can drink deal for $40 at the pool bar that we really liked. The pool, hot springs, and pool bar were incredible. The bartender Walter was so friendly and helpful with town recommendations in La Fortuna. We went into town both nights. We taxied and it was about 10 minuted. La Fortuna was a lot of fun. Would definitely stay at Montana de Fuego again.

We stayed just 2 nights but the hotel and its complex is amazing. The hot thermal baths are nice only the bar on the pool could be cleaner. Breakfast is delicious and it's a calm place. It's a bit long to La Fortuna city a shuttle would be great. Would come back.

We stayed in a superior cabin in the back of the property. It was very private, the cabins are spacious and lovely-great showers! The view of the valley from the back porch was spectacular and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The food in the hotel restaurant was very good also!

Great hotel staff super proficient and helpful I would like to shout out Brandon he could speak English well and was super exited to work with us at this hotel. The front staff such as Jenzy were helpful considering we had over 43 people. Brandon was always ready to help and never let us down at our stay. Highly recommend :) Although keep in mind the rooms don’t have wifi but as we had so much to do he wifi was not needed :) The pick and drop service is phenomenal the view of the mountian is he best in the Fourtuna area !

It was amazing! So beautiful, friendly staff, so much to do on site. I hope to be back! We highly highly recommend.

Montaña de Fuego was an incredible place to stay at; from a room with a balcony overlooking a small lake right in front of the Arenal volcano, to a great breakfast buffet. They also have volcano mud daily for you to use, as well as mineral water pools. Location was awesome too! Overall, would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We had a nice room, spacious and quiet, we had a view of the volcano, which was great. The spa, sauna, hot springs and pool are nice. We spent a lot of time in the hot springs. Cold A/C, hot water, decent TV and comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet was good, fresh and fast service with a good view. Friendly cat also nearby. Within walking of a good ATV tour, zip line and horseback riding. Theres also a super across the road. Just down the road is a cheaper massage place and a great Korean/Japanese restaurant.

Amazingly gorgeous views!! With the volcano being very present and visible including the vivid jungle atmosphere surrounding you, this place is nearly a must-stay! I should note that this resort is walking-heavy, so look into rooms closest to the lobby if that’d be a concern for you. There’s also no wifi access available from the individual villas, but the lobby and wifi center are always available if needed. All in all the astounding scenery makes up tenfold for the few minor inconveniences whilst staying here, highly recommended!
