Lomas de Barbudal Biological Reserve

Little known park and a jewel. Worth the long drive in on a rocky road. Should definitely go with a 4x4. There is a small concrete bridge that one needs to focus while crossing but everything is safe.

The hike is mostly one route through the dry tropical forest to the waterfalls. Lots of howler monkeys and lizards! The waterfalls are warm and require a climb of around 3 m to get too.

Not crowded at all and was all free!

A bit of a drive to the Reservs, but totally worth it for the lack of other people.
A bit muddy, but it was November 2022. Also, lots of mozzies!!

Lovely park, easy walkable trails near river. Lush even in dry season. Lots of birds and monkeys.

It is free to visit and an easy drive from Liberia. Super friendly park ranger on site to give instructions. We only made it part of the path but had to loop back because there were lots of mosquitos that day. So make sure to bring repellent and/or long sleeves just in case.

Awesome trail along the river, saw all sorts of creatures along the way. Lady at the station was very nice and helpful but only spoke Spanish. Swimming hole is a must, swimming with capuchins over head is awesome B-)

We really liked this place to see the monkeys, but Don't go without misquito spray. The misquitoes were brutal!

Une réserve gratuite très belle, nous avons eu la chance de voir de nombreux iguanes, des singes à tête blanches et un lézard jésus christ, pour terminer une jolie chute d'eau !
Je recommande vivement, même si l'accès n'est pas évident sans 4x4.

Tiene una hermosa catarata excelente para tomar fotografías muy bellas

Para ir de Filadelfia a Llanos de Cortez hay una pequeña calle sin mantenimiento que cruza la reserva. Sólo acceso para vehículos todo terreno. El lugar es precioso. No facilidades. Sólo naturaleza.

Cette réserve est superbe. Elle n'est pas touristique donc calme et sauvage. On a aperçu des singe qui avait un comportement naturel car ils essayaient de nous intimider en bougeant et criant depuis les arbre. Il faut prévoir de l'eau car il fait chaud. Apparemment on pouvait se baigner à la fin au niveau de la cascade mais c'est tellement sauvage qu'on a pas tenté de nager dans la rivière x).

Excelente reserva, mucha vida salvaje.

La floración de los árboles es hermosa y sin duda cuando visiten el parque tienen que bañarse en la poza.

Lugar muy bonito para pasar el día con familia y/o amistades. Recuerden siempre recoger toda basura. Para el disfrute de todos.

Muy cerca de Liberia. Lugar ideal para hacer voluntariados con los guardabosques. Hay un rio en que se puede nadar con una buena catarata.

Un lugar hermoso. Personas hermosas a cargo del lugar y un espacio en donde compartir y poder ser parte. Un placer!!! Gracias Lomas Barbudalll
