Hotel Arrecife Punta Uva

Well, we had tried a few other, much better reviewed, restaurants in the area and decided to give this place a try after passing by on the beach. We can say that in addition to the location, which is great, the food was better than in the other places, especially the grilled catch of the day.
And you really should try the excellent craft beer with Maracuja (sic!). We had a nice dinner in a laid back atmosphere right on the beach with our feet in the sand. What's not to like?

Our family went there for lunch today and it was delicious! Pictured is the Caribbean shrimp dish. Yaco was our server and he was amazing- helped get the grandparents settled and was very attentive to our table. The restaurant is right on the beach and is the perfect place to spend the afternoon and get some amazing food! This was the third time there for most of our party and every time has been great!

We ate here a few nights and had a great time. Super chill place. Food was good, nice little spot on the beach, and whoever chose the reggae was killing it with the playlist. Yako took care of us both nights and was awesome! Not sure what everyone was expecting with their reviews, but we really liked our time here and would come back. 🤙

While staying on the nearby camping-site Arrecife, ee had breakfast, lunches, drinks and diners here. The food is good (the Caribbean shrimps are fantastic!) and tasteful, the service personal and warm and most importantly: the beer is cold!
Only downside I can recall is that they wake up just as slowly as I do, so for breakfast, this is not te best place to be.

Forget the negative reviews! This place is great, people are very friendly and the food was great too. We were staying across the street without a car so we ate 3 meals there and everything was good. Definitely recommend stopping by this restaurant!

Late review. But Eric was super helpful and attentive. The food and drinks were great. Beach was awesome! We booked the room last minute and Eric went out of his way to ensure everything was ready. Everything in the area is a little slow but it’s the Caribbean….chill! Pura Vida 🏖

We ate here a couple times and enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. The burgers are just ok, but the traditional Costa Rican food is phenomenal. The bad reviews here seem a little crazy - it isn’t an American restaurant! Don’t go to a Costa Rican place expecting a McDonald’s cheeseburger. This place is delicious, affordable, and fun. Go eat there!

Erick and Marina are amazing. I had two stupid requests that I was almost embarrassed to ask and they smiled and granted them instantly. The place is beautiful, it is the closest you can get to the ocean in Costa Rica on the Caribbean coast. The food is amazing, the staff is just so wonderful. They make you feel like your family. I highly recommend and will be back

I can only recommend this excellent restaurant and hotel at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The whole team is super pura vida and they always have a smile for you. The rooms are clean with private bathrooms and the beds are big and very comfortable. I love the view from the balconies. You get out of your room and are already on the beach. There is always a fresh coconut from one of the palm trees here, and they are delicious. The cook Alvaro makes one of my favorite rice and beans, period. Make sure you ask for the house-made chili sauce, it's very tasty. They have fast wifi (optic fiber) and a super nice ambiente to get some work done without stressing out too much. The tap water is drinkable. You can rent snorkeling gear here to go exploring one of the healthiest coral reefs in Costa Rica - the best spot to enter is walking to the point towards the right, there is a little natural canal with little coral that leads to the edge of the reef where you can see plenty of colorful Caribbean fish species, lobsters, etc. Towards the other side of the beach you will find the trademark of this hotel: the viewpoint of Punta Uva, and below it, a little natural wonder. It is a natural tunnel where the ocean meets itself. You can enter and chill in waves coming in from both sides at the same time. Just be careful, there are some sea urchins. This is one of the safest beaches for swimming in the immediate neighborhood, but still, please be careful if you don't know how to swim very well, and talk to the personnel before you go in, depending on the weather there can be rip tides that can be dangerous for unexperienced swimmers. There is a sloth family that lives here, so you have good chances of seeing them, as well as super cute Kinkayous at night, and the occasional giant iguana. 10/10 would recommend.

Had lunch there and the Caribbean rice with beans and chicken was very good. Nice view on the beach, prices are okay

Man, there isn’t enough good things to say about Arrecife!
Yaco, our server, was absolutely top notch. Upon entering the restaurant, he saw that my grandparents needed assistance, and helped us get a table right in front of the beach while assisting them with seating. He was also extremely personable and friendly the entire visit. He definitely represents Pura Vida.

We all ordered different dishes and I had the red snapper filet with rice and beans and patacones (which are mashed plantains and increíble) and the food was so damn good! It was incredibly fresh and seasoned perfectly. Ask for the house caribeña hot sauce which is spectacular!

As for the location, you absolutely cannot find a better spot to have food and drinks right on the beautiful Punta Uva.

This place is a gem in the Puerto Viejo area and has become one of my favorites to visit each time I am here! This place rocks and definitely ask for Yaco when you come!! Pura Vida!

Very nice place situated on the beach. Pity that the food was not really warm. Quality of the food was good. Nice and friendly staff.

Nice place next to the beach! We went for dinner so with lights decorated was pretty 🤩 The food was tasty and a personal was kind and helpful 🙂
