Beautiful forest walk with nice views or Arenal volcano and lake. Even if the clouds are doing their thing, being in the forest and listening to nature is amazing. This is the National Park, which means the entrance fee helps preserve the park for everyone (vs commercial guided tours elsewhere).

My first experience in Costa Rica. I hiked as many trails as I could during my visit. Saw a snake in the tree, lots of iguanas, coati and toucans plus so many butterflies and other species of birds I didnt know. I would recommend this to anyone, the hikes are pretty easy so they won't kill you!

I read that someone was disappointed because the volcano wasn’t active. One should never visit an active volcano since it is very dangerous an one might die! So keep that in mind.
We took an uber to get here from
La fortuna. Its a 15 min drive. The hike wasn‘t particularly difficult it took 2 h. We went to both viewpoints. There are different routes to the viewpoints. A shorter one and then a longer one. They are easy to figure out! We took the long one (red) and went back on the shorter trail (yellow). Hiking shoes are recommended since the path can get muddy. We did not see any animals even on the longer trail!

Great place to find native wildlife, if you are quite, take your time, and especially if you have someone with you that knows the bird calls, and where to find them. Had the most beautiful time walking the (easy) trails through the dripping rain forest, and shooting pictures.

I loved this park! Hiking in Costa Rica in June can be dicey. We only got rained on a little! Super hot and humid (of course) but well worth it! Take water. If you aren’t at all fit, stick to the shorter trails. I saw a lot of people out there who were struggling a little.

So beautiful! We saw many types of birds and even a crocodile. We did get caught in a rain storm but the pictures show that it makes the photos even more spectacular. Make sure to bring the ticket if you come from the volcano side of the park, to show you paid.

Very nice national park, the infrastructure to receive the tourists was very well designed and it's kept in very good form, everything clean and in order. The trails have very good maintenance and you will enjoy walking in the middle of the forest. If you are lucky and there are no clouds you will enjoy a great view of arenal volcano and the lake. The peninsula station has very nice view from a 12 meters tower and you can walk all the way to the lake in a cemented trail (be careful of any crocodiles).

Beautiful, quiet nature filled national park. I can't believe how people don't flock here.
One of my favourite places near La Fortuna!!

Excellent views of the volcano, according to local police, never follow any tour guide into the top, there is no such authorized tour to the top
Of the volcano.

We stayed in Hotel Lavas Tacotal that was a great accomodation. We visited the Arenal park and drove around the river too. The views are incredible

Amazing park with a lot of wildlife to see. Birds sounds are incredible. It took me about 3 - 4 h to complete both routes.

Great <2 mile roundtrip hike to the lake and back. Did it with a 2yr old who walked half way.

This is an easy hike for all ages. The road is a little rough and slow going to get there.
