Amazing place! We had the place just for ourselves. During 3h we saw many animals, bugs, flowers, HUGE beautiful tree, lava trail, volcano and lake view, and overall beautiful jungle. Do not go to the lodge next door but visit this place instead for a true jungle walk.

Quaint rainforest reservation. If you want a wild hiking trail that leads you to the lava flows and an ancient tree along the way, this is it. I spotted some rare wildlife and found the people to be hospitious. I was served complementary coffee as I sat to write on their terrace. If you're looking for the observation tower, pedestrian paths, and flower gardens, keep right and proceed through the gate.

Great gravel trails for a rainy day, much less mud than the national park trails, and less expensive at $10 person than some of the other more corporate hiking reserves.

We stopped here with our families with a couple younger kids. They have 2 trail loops, one very short and easy - perfect for our kids. Beautiful jungle and we saw a family of white faced monkeys. The hike took us about 20 minutes- the long hike was estimated at 1.5 hours - we just went down a little and back. Owners were very friendly and helpful. We even walked the short loop with their adorable puppy who tagged along.

My husband and I had planned to hike at the Arenal Observatory next door to this trail. However, we have a small dog, and the Arenal Observatory doesn’t allow them. We decided to try Toucan Trails for $12 per person, and we are so glad we did. It was well marked with gorgeous views of Volcano Arenal and a nice lookout over Lake Arenal. The staff were kind, and the little girl who was helping her mom direct traffic was the cutest. We would recommend this hike.

Amazing Hike!
We went there by taxi. The entry is 10 USD per person. The Hike is around 2h long and not to steep. Amazing view over the woods and the Vulcano. Great pathway through the woods. And we were the only group hiking there, so it was very peaceful. Afterwards the 2 groundkeepers offered us coffee. They we‘re super nice!

Two hikes, one short (20-30 min) one longer (~2 hours). Fairly easy hiking (some rocks and roots but not crazy) $10 entry, clean restroom and a coffee/juice/smoothie spot on site.

We enjoyed this trail a lot. Visited in mid June at 9am, and having luck with a sunny day and clean sky. You need to pay the entry fee (12 dollars) at the kiosk (with plenty of parking spots) where you also sign in with your name and email and then you can enjoy an approx. 5km of the walk (two trails actually 1km and 3,8km). We were lucky to see plenty of birds including toucans :), lizards and a black snake. I would not rate the trail difficult (we are sporty and walk a lot) but some parts could be slippery when raining. We enjoyed the nature and met only two other people when returning. Liked it a lot. Flora around was amazing as expected.

I was a little bit worried to come here but we had our best time on this trail in Arenal region. The main trail is ~4km long and we could wasily do it with a 3.5 year old - it was a great advanture to him. We've seen many animals and there were nobody else but us on the trail. The lady at the entrance was very helpful, showed us all the animal names in books. The drink of the house was one of the best juices I've tasted in a 3 week long trip in CR. 6/5 points.

The trail is marked well, don't worry.

Great secluded path. We were the only ones on the trail and could spot many animals on the way. Great hike with lake and volcano views. Much better than the crowded official park hikes

If you want to avoid the crowd this is the correct hike. We saw a bunch of animals. Also, we hiked to the lagoon which we found out the next day that it's not legal to go to.

Old lava je výborná trat, ale doporučuji mít vybaveni do terénu.

Super mega hyggeligt sted.
