La Costa de Papito

This place is a gem! I have been now twice, each time taking my cousins. You cannot beat the location, as you can mosey across the road right to Playa Cocles.

Rooms are typical and comfortable, everything you need. There is a ton of wildlife everyone. The price is good and especially for the value. You can have a cup of coffee in the morning and add breakfast if you want. The Indian food is also outstanding; do yourself a favor and plan one dinner at the restaurant onsite. My cousins also got a massage and they said it was great, professional and exactly what they were looking for.

Everyone there is very friendly. Highly recommended. Skip the cheaper hostels and the more expensive hotels and stay somewhere you will feel right at home. I'd return again, cousins or not, in a heartbeat.

So it’s walking distance from the beach and all kinds of little eateries. You’re not far from all the tourist shops. The staff are so very sweet. The water was choppy and the gentleman at the counter begged us to be careful. You can tell they really care for their guest. The rooms are very clean showers had warm water. Highly recommend it! Our stay at was simply unforgettable! The beds were heavenly, and we enjoyed peaceful nights free from mosquitoes. The charming jungle-like setting of the small houses added to the magic, with wildlife sightings making it even more special.

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed. Plus, the hotel's proximity to a stunning beach and easy access to Puerto Viejo's center via tuc tuc rides made exploring a breeze.

If you're looking for a relaxing escape surrounded by nature, this is the place to be.

It was a well deserved recommendation from a friend. The bungalows seem very secluded but yet close to all the amenities. Well appointed with good light and shower facilities. The staff were so helpful and spoke very good english. La Costa is within walking distance to everything. Absolutely loved it. Thank you.

A PERFECT stay in the beautiful jungle with easy beach access. Wonderful breakfast included eggs, pancakes and oatmeal and bottomless coffee and tea with fresh squeezed local fruit juice. Lovely, helpful staff especially Marva, Ela, and Sheila. The rooms with mosquito nets and tiled bathrooms are comfy and clean. No air conditioning most places. Overhead and floor fans keep the nights cool. I slept very well!
The Indian Restaurant open for dinner is excellent and Glen is a delightful house manager.
Eddie Ryan, the proprietor is a seasoned storyteller of epic proportions and the staff is all-around top class.

It looks exactly like on the pictures!!!! There is no glass on the windows,so you experience the night jungles at the fullest. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They kindly allowed me to leave my luggage at the reception until I moved to another location of my stay. It is very close to the beach and 2 supermarkets are at the walking distance.
The only thing that might be nice is to have a little fridge in the room.

Our dream come true! After 2 years in lockdown we finally were able to travel again. La Costa de Papito is an enchanting place. The bungalows are incredibly hand crafted and very comfortable with mosquito nets and fans that keep the temperature just right. They are super clean.
The staff were so pleasant and helpful. So nice to see a family run business these days.
The location is perfect. Across the street from the beach. Outside of town so it is peaceful and serene. The wildlife is awesome. We saw Congo monkeys, sloths and toucans right near our bungalow.

Super friendly staff and very unique rooms with a lot of tropical details. You can hear birds and other creatures in the lush grounds. The staff here is extremely friendly. The construction of the cabinas is very interesting and the rooms have a lot of natural ventilation with screened windows. It is a very peaceful and tranquil place, perfect for a solo or romantic getaway.

Such an amazing stay in the jungle !!! This is the perfect place to stay and all your needs are met ! Staff and owner so very helpful and welcoming ! The bungalows are comfortable and very clean ! Will be sure to visit” la Costa de Papito” again , as we have many times before ! Highly recommend ❣❣

Excellent stay on every level. Front desk personnel were helpful with booking adventures and shuttles. They were also extremely friendly, above and beyond their professional duties. The support staff were just as friendly and helpful. A wonderful stay with wonderful people!

Booked this on a whim and it exceeded my expectations! The rooms are amazing - big, clean and well aired and comfortable - and the staff is so helpful and pleasant. My stay there was great and I will be back. I fully recommend it to anyone going to PV!

This place is simply Amazing, quiet but only 10 minutes into town. Walk across the road to the beach and towels provided. The bungalow was cleaned daily, coffee was delicious and discount in breakfast for booking.com customers.
Super, super place to spend my birthday and I will definitely return.

We absolutely loved La Costa de Papito! The individual bungalow was magical. The space was clean and surrounded by a lush green environment. Bed nets are provided but were never used. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is across from the beach and walking distance to town. I highly recommend La Costa de Papito!!!!!

Enjoyed our extended stay at La Costa de Papito. Very friendly and helpful staff and funky, rustic cabins. A few little niggles in the room that were quickly addressed by staff. Beach is right across the street (beach towels provided) and a great restaurant close by (El Sol de Caribe) as well as Indian restaurant onsite. Worries float away when hanging out in the hammock on the deck. Tuk Tuks will take you into Puerto Viejo or to Punta Uva if you don’t have a car, or hire a bike.

My family has stayed here multiple times for good reason. If you are looking for that truly tropical experience this is the place to stay! The bungalows are not fancy, but each unique and remind me of the Swiss Family Robinson theme at Disneyland. The staff is super friendly and accommodating! The included breakfast offers eggs any way you want them, ham, lots of fresh fruit and bread, pancakes, potatoes, plantains, etc. Never had better in Costa Rica! Eat in the restaurant or take it back to your bungalow and eat on your private bamboo patio with hammock and table. Evening may include enjoying a cocktail in the huge bar with big screen tv. We woke to the sounds of exotic birds and howler monkeys every morning. And if location is important, well this is the best! Just a couple kilometers from the Puerto Viejo shopping and nightlife but right across the street from the serene surfing beaches of Cocles. Not sure if AC included but we found it not necessary with the ceiling fans. Thanks Eddie and entire staff for a wonderful stay!

Update 6/15-6/21/2023: Another amazing stay at Costa de Papito. Marva, Ela and Gabriel couldn't have been more accomodating! I even had an eye injury and they were so concerned, gave me ice for the swelling, and checked on me periodically to make sure all okay. I love this place!

Easy check in and out with a friendly and helpful staff. The rooms had nice decks with a beautiful wooden table and a hammock. Lots of cool birds right outside your door. Easy walk right across the street to the beach. I would stay here again.

Beautiful bungalows with plenty of space. Very clean and accommodating. Receptionist was very helpful with booking tours and offering suggestions on things to do.

Stayed here for my birthday in May 2018. Our 2br bungalow was amazing. We loved the lush grounds. I loved all of the local wood. The staff was extremely friendly. The food was good. I did not have a bad day here. Enjoyed nights on the porch in the hammock. Across the street from the beach and many great restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The only thing I did not like was the drive from San Jose airport. I wasn't ready for the roads. Lol. Great customer service and accommodations. Will definitely return over and over.

Great stay! After surfing in the morning I'd return to my bungalow and relax in the hammock on my porch. Actually just hanging out in my bungalow was a big part of why I enjoyed so my of my time here. Really cool rustic design, comfortabla and right across from Cocles beach. I'll be back."

The bungalows are spacious, very clean and comfortable, with a baranda and hammock to relax to enjoy nature! Howler monkeys in the Morning and evenings that will just became the perfect background sounds to enjoy the jungle surrounding the hotel, with animals,exotic plants and big trees.
In Cocles beach that is a beautiful place to stay when you are in Puerto Viejo, and to the other amazing beaches around the coast. I Highly recommend the hotel , and the very friendly and helpful staff that priorities their guest confort.
