Was a nice and delicious experience. Guide could speak English really well and explained everything really good.

Important information:

you can’t just drive there and take part at the tour, we tried it and drove back because it was not possible (we didn’t know that).
Tour is only possible when you sign up before via WhatsApp.

We visited Cacao trails museum with our kids. We were excited by the proximity of the nature and impressed by the simplicity of production of the organic chocolate, which by the way made us a delicious experience at the end! 😋
The tour guide was a very friendly and knowledgable person who made our experience even more fantastic! We can only recommend visiting this lovely place!😉

I am truly amazed by the hospitality and friendliness of the staff! We were introduced to a traditional way of making delicious and healthy chocolate and learned a lot about new fruits and how humanity works together with nature to produce this tasty product! The hostess was so kind that she gave me even some of the herbs grown on the premises to cure my flu the natural way. Thank you for this uniqe and amazing experience!

Super interesting and fun tour. Our Guide was from the BriBri tribe and shared so much knowledge.
The chocolate was of course absolutely delicious and nothing like we have ever had before. We also saw some monkeys, crocodiles, owls and all kinds of butterflies and other insects there.

Veronica was our tour guide and she spoke very good English! The tour was very interesting. We got to learn about all different kinds of plant/trees and flowers/fruits. We really got to learn more about the process of how chocolate is made. We even got to try and help during the chocolate making process. They all took their time to make us feel at home. Our 2 years old son was with us and Veronica made sure he was happy and also made him part of the tour. Thankyou so much for this experience. We really want to recommend this tour to other tourists! (Btw you can also see monkeys/kaymans and birds during the tour. It is easy to park your car and you also get to taste a lot such as cinnamon tree, cacao beans etc).

One of the best cacao tours we’ve had. It was a perfect afternoon tour. Loved every second of the tour. We got to make our own chocolate and try different combinations. People there were so sweet. I wasn’t feeling well that day, they gave me medicinal plants to make a tea for myself. I would 100 percent go back. A definite good tour to add to your visit to Costa Rica. 🩷🩷

Awesome tour. Informative and interesting. Appreciated the guides and everything we learned. Nice tour , simple. $15 for one hour , $25 for two hours. Did the one hour tour. Got to taste chocolate at the end. They also sell chocolate products and there is a small souvenir shop. Loved the dogs and cat too. Thank you for a nice time. Thank you to our lovely guide!

We had a lovely tour in this cacao paradise today. Veronica did an excellent job in letting us smell and taste all phases between the tree to the chocolate bar. The 1 hr tour (15 usd) starts formally at 10:00, 12:30 and 14:00 but obviously the informal schedule prevails. Pura vida!

Great place to get to know more about all the local fruits and of course cacao! We had a private tour and really enjoyed the whole experience. You get to produce your own chocolate from the cacao beans. Very knowledgeable guide, and the chocolate was delicious! We learned a lot and it's fascinating that only 5 ingredients are needed to make this treat.

Fascinating and well worth going. Wonderful teachings about the interconnected cooperative effort that goes into producing chocolate. Bring extra cash to buy artisanal handmade chocolate like the one you will help to make. And if they have any vanilla for sale buy it. Cocoa butter was particularly wonderful too.

Visited with some friends and absolutely loved it! The staff were welcoming and the tour was great. They showed us every step of making chocolate starting from the cocoa tree. An indigenous tribe member makes chocolate from scratch right in front of you and it’s delicious! Well worth the visit for a peaceful and interesting activity. Thank you!!

I recently had the pleasure of taking a family tour of the 5 star Cacao Trails - Museo de Cacao with the excellent guide, Fred. Fred was an amazing guide, and provided an excellent explanation of the entire process from the harvesting of the cacao beans to their eventual transformation into the delicious chocolate we all know and love. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was eager to answer any questions we had.
The Cacao Trails tour was a truly unique experience. We had the opportunity to explore the museum and learn about the history of the Cacao bean and the process it goes through to become chocolate. We also got to try some freshly made chocolate and sample some of the different types of chocolates they had available.
The highlight of the tour was a firsthand look at the process of making the chocolate. It was amazing to see the chocolate being made and to get a better understanding of all the work that goes into making it, we loved the fact you were able to taste the finished product.
Overall, I highly recommend the Cacao Trails tour for anyone looking for a unique and educational experience, Fred was an excellent guide and was able to provide valuable information about the entire process.

We had a great time and certainly gained a newfound appreciation for the delicious chocolate we all love so much, thanks Fred.

This was absolutely amazing. The guide was amazing, Genesis was very friendly and spoke excellent English. I would recommend this tour to anyone. The owner, Lorena was extremely friendly and showed us her animals! A true A+ experience. The chocolate is so yummy. It is old Native style chocolate and tastes very unique. Do bring some bug spray as chocolate is pollinated by mosquitoes.

The tour is very informative. Lorena was our tour guide and she was on top of everything. She showed us the entire garden explaining all the plants growing, what are they for and what is the difference with the massive production of the same fruit, veg or plant made by multinational companies.

Than we went to see the cacao cultivation and production making us doing our chocolate bar. We tasted all possible combinations 😉!!!

Thanks a lot Lorena!!

Highly recommended.

Veronica was our tour guide and she was excellent! The tour started with learning about the native plants, fruits, and vegetables. We then got to see the traditional ways of harvesting the cacao. The tour ended with preparing and tasting fresh chocolate, as well as pairing with various fruits, spices, and vegetables! This was a very fun and interesting tour!

1 hour presentation was enough. I enjoyed the visit and learned a lot of cacao production and the cacao making process. It was very interesting! Highly recommended if visiting Puerto Viejo.

Cacao Trails is near Puerto Viejo, ca. 15-20 minutes by bus. The bus stop is right in front of the farm. The chocolate tour was great and very informative. Our guide Veronica showed us the entire garden explaining a lot of about the fruits and other plants they are growing. We could produce our own cocoa paste which was amazing! The kids loved it too.

I’ve been here a few times over the years, but it seems they’ve undergone some fairly recent changes, and if it was a “good” experience before, it is truly an AWESOME experience now!

Our guide, Lorena, did an amazing job of thoroughly informing my friend and I about the native and indigenous plants, wildlife, people, cultures, & the history of cacao farming and production in Talamanca, Costa Rica. She was truly a delight and an extremely knowledgeable guide.

Their facility and gardens are simply beautiful and filled with wildlife. The tour is highly interactive, and making chocolate the indigenous way is something you don’t want to miss.

I highly recommend a visit to Tayku Cacao Trails, and plan on spending at least two hours… maybe four. But it’s 100% interesting to a naturalist, a foodie, a culture junkie, or a mix of all three (like myself 😊). Bring a bottle of water and enough appetite to munch down some of the most amazing chocolate you may ever get to try… after making it yourself!!!

This was an amazing place. I had the most amazing tour guide Lorraine. Fortunately, for me, I had the tour all by myself, so I was able to watch cacao made from start to finish the best taste and chocolate I’ve ever had and I probably ever will have. I was able to sample the chocolate with different types of exotic fruits and before I left, I made my own chocolate
