WAVE Rafting Costa Rica

My first time white water rafting and I was very hesitant. It was so fun…the staff were amazing and so helpful! After the trip, we had an awesome lunch!!! Thank you Albert for being a great tour guide..Tami, Carrie, Susan, and Emma😊

We had a great experience from start to finish. The rapids were very fun and even though our family of six did not have any experience with white water rafting, our guide made it an amazing experience. We felt very safe throughout the whole thing and enjoyed how personable and funny our guide was. The lunch afterward at the Arnel Vida Campesina was very good as was their interactive presentation on sugar canes! It capped off a wonderful day for our entire family! Thank you

What a day! The guides were friendly and knowledgeable, in particular our river guide Jaime who gave us extra challenges and pointed out so many things to see along the river... howler monkeys, herons, kingfishers, ospreys and Toucans. The photos available to purchase after are an added bonus.
The meal at Tirimbina reserve was far more than expected and delicious.
Thank you so much to all the guides and driver for making this a day to remember.

Definitely a highlight of our trip! Rapids were surprisingly larger and more intense than we expected. The guides are extremely knowledgeable. Fun to see all the photos at lunch ($40 to buy roughly 100 of them). Would recommend to all!

Roughly a 1hr shuttle each way (the hotel stops when in town can make it much longer however).

Felt safe all the time . No white rafting for me !
Mind blowing amount of knowledge and experience. Excellent bird and mammal spotting , ending with delicious home made cheese , grilled plantain , banana cake and coffee at a local soda .
If you want to see nature in peace and tranquility , at its Costa Rician best , give it a try.
Didnt even get wet ! A wonderful morning , thank you .

One of the best adventures of my life rafting in grade 3 & 4 rapids on the beautiful Sarapiquí river. Thanks to Brandan, Momo and the team for making it such a slick, safe and fun rafting session! Start to finish amazing, this river does not disappoint, and the Wave Rafting crew go the extra miles with personal touches like fruit stops, always giving good vibes, spotting animals like howler monkeys, and the local lunch was tasty and you can purchase top quality pictures. It was simply amazing. It was lots of fun. Our guide Gustavo was very knowledgeable and helped us enjoy our experience. We had good lunch as well. I would recommend it to anyone that is interested in river rafting.

Just wanted to give a personal thank you to our guide Jairo, driver Felix, and on raft guide Andy. Had an incredible experience learning about the local history en route to rafting. The rafting itself has been the highlight of our trip so far. While the rafting was intense, we felt safe the entire time with the guidance of the crew. Highly, highly recommend!

Highly recommend this tour company for rafting (we did the Balsa river, class II/III). We are a family of 4 (kids 12 and 15) who have never rafted but paddle often. Our guide, Sivi, was welcoming, fun and highly skilled at maneuvering the raft for a perfect experience. I felt very safe throughout. He even spotted 2 sloths when some of the other rafts did not. Added bonuses were the buffet lunch and sugar cane demonstration. Short and sweet so the boys were not bored.

This was one of my favorite things we did in Costa Rica! I've only been rafting in Colorado before and they didn't prepare me for these rapids. Very fun and a little intense, you do have to put in a lot of energy to rowing but it's not that difficult. Our guide Agosto was very friendly and funny, also patient with us when it came to rowing. The views along the river were absolutely amazing, and we were even able to see a sloth. Lunch at the end was also amazing, they took us to a local farm where after eating delicious food, we were surprised by learning about fruits grown there and then had an interactive demonstration with sugar cane. 10/10 recommend this specific rafting company! We actually did a combo with rappelling and rafting and I especially recommend those together.

The whole experience was a rollercoaster of excitement and fantastic activities.

The thrilling white water rafting was just one part that made this so amazing. The guides and staff were very happy and friendly (like just about everyone I met while I was there), the views were nice and the little picnic of sorts afterwards was delicious.

So fun for us to do as a family, we will never forget!

A really well run tour. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. We went white water rafting down the Sarapiqui river. I would highly recommend. We were the only boat on the entire river stretch. Spotting lots of birds and howler monkeys en route.

The rapids were constant, and pretty large in places. We loved it, felt very adventurous.

Worth knowing photos are an additional fee.

Lovely river safari with Diego … saw monkeys, a sloth, several birds along the river .. enjoyed some Costa Rican snacks at a farm and then went on to have a wonderful experience of Costa Rican hospitality - cooking with Dona Mara

We went rafting level 3-4 with Wave Rafting in Costa Rica in April 2023. I was scared to death as I'd never done it before. Our guide, Gerald, made me feel safe the whole time! He made the day so FUN! Wave Rafting was our FAVORITE excursion while in Costa Rica! We would definitely recommend Wave Rafting and Gerald! We'd love to do it again! Water was nice, not cold at all. We can't say enough about the experience, the company and GERALD! A bonus is that they have a photographer the whole way to capture photos of your group, which are available to purchase at the end. We got over 100 pictures, which were all fantastic for a really reasonable price. Thank you for a great time and wonderful memories!!!

We had a fantastic time. Our guide, Andy was the best. He pointed out sloths, iguanas and more. He was a great instructor and kept us laughing and nobody fell out of the raft. Most fun I've ever had rafting!

We took a rafting III & IV down the Balsa river and had a good time. Our son was a little scared at the start as it was a bit rough but our guide Kevin was great to make him feel safe and he ended up enjoying it a lot. I would not recommend for people with back problems or mobility issues. A fun and exciting family day. Thank you WAVE Expeditions!

Whitewater rafting on the Balsa River for the thrill seekers

I did take in the Balsa River whitewater rafting and had a great time. From fully bilingual, friendly, knowledgeable staff, to the natural setting it was a memorable day. I've been whitewater rafting in Canada (Ottawa River) and am used to having to paddle a good distance between rapids. Not so on the Balsa - the whitewater was near constant - and it was fun. I never felt at risk. We spotted a Two-toed sloth and lots of birds. There was a stop on the bank to be treated to a snack of watermelon and pineapple (delicious). After finishing the whitewater portion we were bused to a restaurant and provided a very good buffet-style lunch. Fruit juice, water and coffee were all included. The food was very good. Following lunch they provided a demonstration on how to get the sap out of sugar cane and provided everyone with some sugar cane to chew on. After some of the River guides were finished pressing the sugar cane we were all treated to a taste of the Sugarcane liquid (sweet as you imagine it - but white and I was expecting it to be brown). There was also a local sugarcane and corn-based liquor that any of the adults were welcome to taste. All in all it was a very good day and a worthwhile excursion. Our guide, Enzo, was excellent and has a great deal of knowledge that he was happy to share.

We had 10 days in Costa Rica and did multiple excursions and this was our favorite by far! Carlos was our guide and he was an absolute pro at training us and steering us through the rapids. My husband and I got tossed at one point which was a bit scary but Carlos and Andy pulled us back in quickly. Even with that experience, this is the funnest thing I’ve ever done. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We went on a grade 2-3 rapids white water rafting trip with this group. It was top notch! The guides were great! It was well organized. We got a tasty pineapple and watermelon snack in the middle. We got to swim a bit in the calmer part of the rapids.

There was a demonstration incorporated at the end of sugar cane management and coffee harvest. The food at this place was some of the best I had during my entire time in Costa Rica!!!

Would highly recommend and if you can get in a raft with Axel, you in for a fun ride :-P
