Playabachata Hotel

Just back from a week at the resort and had a great time. Resort staff was great, rooms in need of some updating but clean and very comfortable. Food was plentiful and great selection. Definitely favor Cuba’s beaches but beaches were clean and well maintained. Only negative was lack of lounges whether on beach or at pool— if you didn’t get lounges early, you had a hard time getting one. Thanks staff and local residents for a great week. 4+ stars!!

A beautiful resort!
The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. The balconies are large which was nice because we could sit outside on rainy days.
The buffet restaurants serve basic food, nothing gourmet. Considering the amount of people they are feeding, I think the quality was very good. The omelette station and the fresh homemade donuts in the morning were great. There was always a fresh fruit and a fresh vegetable station at every meal, even breakfast. There was always a wood oven pizza and 2 pasta stations. The drinks were good and there were a lot of stands to place empty glasses to keep the resort and beach clean. The street where you could get pizza by the slice, espresso drinks and gelato was nice to access during all hours. You can get a quick drink or bite without having to go to the restaurant. The snack bar was really good. We went to the Steakhouse a la carte and it was ok.
The beach is stunning and the ocean is very calm. You can see lots of fish without snorkel gear. There is such a long stretch of beach and so many chairs that it does not feel crowded.
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The entertainment is fun, the dancers are talented and the shows vary from night to night! Definitely check out the Michael Jackson show if it’s still on.
I read many negative reviews and I honestly have nothing bad to say about the place!!

Great food, beautiful location, but no working safe in the room, so we had to carry valuables with us at all time.

Spend your hard earned $ somewhere else . I consider myself a season traveller and have been to many countries and resorts . This one is horrible . The resort is old and run down to start .. room beds are terrible and ac unit blows warm air to start .. the power has gone out for serval hours at a time several times . When power is out u can’t shower or do anything .. tv in room is a decoration never had channels at night or blurry … showers only have cold water and no fixed head .. window in shower leaks rust .. the food is TERRIBLE always the same garbage and usually cold . They run out of plates forks and cups lots and the waitress / waiters barly come by to refill water or drinks … I have lost 10-15 pounds here easy it’s really that bad … sometimes using sterofoam plates bc they constantly run out . You can’t use any charging ports in room bc they’re all old school besides the one in bathroom also . Clean towels are more rare then diamonds here to . Entertainment at night is so repetitive and boring . Really I try to be positive for first half week but I can’t wait to go home and eat some real food . Honestly guys this place is a joke it’s 2024 don’t waste your money this junk .. pics and website are SCAM . Don’t believe me well sorry about your trip when you arrive .

I want to say I met some really nice folks on my trip Dec 9th, the service made up for it all and I will definitely be going back. I want to start by saying Margarita welcome us with the warmest smile along with Maria, Roy, Evelissa, Vianelka & Judelka at the front desk also Hugo and Raul was so pleasant and helpful. My housemaid Eridania was amazing she’s a hard worker kept our room clean everyday and she’s a lovely soul. The waitstaff were another amazing bunch Karla, Gabriella, Rosario, Ramon, Freddy, Mery, Sandy and the other staff from the restaurant. Now let’s talk about the Entertaiment group they were the highlight of the night from Kitty, Superman, Donkey, Fritojulito, chocolata, and the dancers were amazing. I highly recommend this resort as everyone is so humble and down to earth they make you feel like family.👍🏽👍🏽

All though it rain the majority of the time I was there.. The entertainment crew and service workers made being the enjoyable and fun. The beach was location and scenery are amazing

Wow this place has it all great food friendly staff bar tenders are great entertainment is great this is our new destination have traveled alot hear but this is the best place I have ever been to

Very good bang for buck, you can’t go wrong. Staff are nice and are courteous just make sure to leave them a nice tip if they take care of you, it goes a long way for them

I just returned from a 7 day vacation at Playabachata. I was quite nervous while booking after reading so many negative reviews, but it was cheaper than most other resorts in the DR so I decided to just lower my expectations and just book it. I am so glad that I did, my fiancé and I had a great trip. No wait for the check in, the room was spacious although the furniture was dated and the room smelt a bit musty( we just left balcony door open with the screen and it went away), we never had an issue with AC or hot water both worked the entire time.

The beach was great, you do have to get there early if you want prime loungers/location but we had no problem finding some even in the middle of the afternoon(we just had to drag them to another location) **also please be careful swimming when the red flag is up and it’s really wavy- we had no problems swimming up to our waists but we did watch a man swim out further and get pulled out very far, thankfully the resort crew were able to get to him by kayak and rescue him. The response time was about 5 minutes and they had a doctor there waiting for him which was reassuring to see. The pools were good, but very busy- we waited until later in the afternoon(3-4) to go and they were quiet and enjoyable.

The food was good, not the best but there was always something we enjoyed at the buffet. The guy at the first egg station makes amazing omelettes. I also read in the reviews that was no bacon- but there was bacon for breakfast 4 out of the 7 mornings we were there. The drinks were great, lots of slushie drinks and cocktails to choose from. The coffee in the morning was delightful- they make a great Spanish coffee and the caramel coffee was also really good.

Overall we had a great time and it was a great value for what we paid. I would come back again.

This resort is great value if you set your expectations. You know what you are paying, don't expect a 5 star experience.

We had no trouble finding food at the buffet anytime we were there, actually found that the pizza was really good.
Snack bar was hit and miss for.lumch, however there was always lots of fresh fruit available.

The alcohol at the bar was definitely bottom shelf, however the drinks were made well and tasted great. The longest lineup was for coffee at the pool bar in the mornings, but even that was quick.

If the resort is only half open, head to the closed side for the quiet pool, mostly families and people relaxing there.

The beach is nice and huge, there were no problems finding loungers, however the ocean is very rocky and I would suggest wearing water shoes when you go in. We all found the ocean warmer than the pools.

Both myself and my wife enjoyed our stay. Clean rooms with entertainment across the resort. From beach parties to karaoke and live shows put on by entertainers. Food was never and issue with alot of restaurants to choose from. Pools were clean and music everywhere the only complaint was lack of loungers by the pool and ocean. I will definitely return to this resort.

Amazing! I went back in March and absolutely had the best time. The resort was clean, the staff were amazing and my overall experience was wonderful. The evening shows and entertainment were great. I loved how they had a sister resort that you could visit and everything was included. Food was good and they had a large variety of options. The wifi wasn't very strong but you could visit the other resort for that. Overall for the price it was amazing.

Very nice resort we love it.

I liked this resort. The rooms were not bad. They were clean, but the beds were not so comfy.
Their entertainment was amazing, especially their dancers.

staff were very helpful and very friendly. At the bar they always remember who came first and are sure to be fair. The food is amazing and even better on the weekends. I would definitely recommend staying here!

This is a very well organized and comfortable resort. In a lot of the reviews, people complain way too much like it's literally what you pay for, and for the price, it's really amazing. The staff are very kind and are always ready to help you out. Honestly, most of these reviews are people who nitpick the smallest details that really don't matter, so if you want to save some money and have a great time I definitely recommend coming here.
