Hotel & Restaurante Mon Ami

Astounding staff, so friendly and helpful! They prepare breakfast to takeaway if you do Tikal. The dorm was big and spacious with mosquito blinds (not nets on individual beds) so it was fine as long as people kept the doors shut at all times. They give you each a fan. Nice drinks and food selection, at a reasonable price. The girls and owner were very nice which made the experience better! I have recommended hotel mon Ami to many friends now.

Great staff, Esperanza is the best, the owner años lives there, he is quiet outgoing and very interesting to speak with.

The food is good and the rooms are good for what you are paying.

We went for a couple of days and stay a week. The dock to the lake is a great added value.

Cute little hotel with nice grounds and room. The hotel's private dock in front of the hotel is what sets it far above the other accomodations around. The lake is fantastic and a real reprieve from the heat!

I only stayed one night here. There was only one girl that did most of the work. She was very nice. My family and I went to Tikal before arriving here. We walked through all possible walks so we were extremely tired. We arrived at around 5:00 p.m. and she, nicely, still offered us lunch. We were 5 people and she made the food surprisingly fast. It tasted AMAZING. For the drinks there were metal straws! So, it's eco-friendly. The rooms are really pretty and clean. I really liked it!

Our two-night stay in Hotel & Restaurante Mon Ami was lovely. Here’s why.

- The rooms are huge and beautiful. The bathroom is large as well.
- The food is delicious and reasonably priced.
- The little private bridge with the hammock is lovely, really perfect after a heavy morning in Tikal, to see the sun set in the relaxing town of “El Remate”, far from the hectic island of “Flores”.
- The staff is very friendly. The owner, Jacques, is a Frenchman who was really nice with us.

I had to think hard but here are two negative points.
- We asked for a sandwich in order to have something to eat during our day in Tikal. The sandwich was not very good, and it was expensive.
- There is a pretty strong smell of cigaret in the eating room.

We initially planned to stay for 3 nights but spent a week here: friendly staff, clean lake to swim, spacious pier to relax, good food, biking around (push bikes and motor bike available), easy access to Tikal or Flores

Great stay at the hotel, great food, grzat drinks and the owner is just wonderful! I'm looking forward to go back!

I did not stay at the beautiful but unostentatious hotel. However, I ate a couple of times at their restaurant finding the food to be fresh, of excellent quality and cooked to perfection. The owner is a French biologist you will see around all the time. Try the "Piguas" a fresh water giant shrimp or the delicious "Ratatouille. You would never expect to find such sophistication a few meters from the jungle!!

Loved this place.It’s peaceful and quiet.The food is also the best I had during my stay in Petén.Friendly owner and staff.

Nice place to have a good time between the lake and other beautiful places near to El Remate.
