In a word this place is “wonderful”. It’s really cute and cosy with lots of private individual tables set up for couples or small groups. Can highly recommend getting one meat and one cheese platter to share between two. You get to sample over 20 local cheese and 15 different meats. The wine is lovely, the surroundings are gorgeous and the family and pets are a delight. Overall this is a great way to spend a couple of hours in San Juan.

My girlfriend and I stopped by for lunch, we had an amazing cheese platter for two paired with some great wines! The place is very cool and the cheeses which were amazing are all locally made as well as the cured meats! It’s locally owned and run by a young family. Jesus the owner is very knowledgeable! Highly recommend!

Absolutely do not miss this place. Absolutely beautiful! An oasis. Beautiful wine, beautiful charcuterie and cheeses in a little oasis. Take a tuctuc here as soon as possible! Support this business!

This place was wonderful! It was like getting transported to Italy all while being a beautiful place tucked into Guatemala. The owner was such a wonderful person who explained all the artisanal locally made cured meats and cheeses.
If Lake Atitlan wasn’t such a magical place I would come back just to visit this establishment again.
*bonus* the owner also helps rescue local animals!

Went for lunch today and it was amazing! Beautiful space with some of the best cheese and wine in Guatemala! Will definitely be making this our date night spot for future. They also do pizza at night starting at 6pm. We came for the cheese, meat and wine which was plenty for a whole meal.

Highly recommend! Don’t miss this hidden gem of the Lake!

If you are looking for a lovely afternoon out with cheese and wine in Lake Atitlan this is the place. We got a cheese platter and meat platter and wine. The restaurant is so personal, the owner is so friendly, is an expert on cheese, meat and wine and the service is 11/10. You could have all the water and bread you wanted. It’s in a beautiful location and could easily sit for lunch for a couple of hours here eating good food, having some wine and chatting. 100% recommend. You can message on google chat if you want to get a reservation, but other people were also doing walk-ins.

This place is spectacular! It was recommended by a friend and I was a bit skeptical going to get Italian in Guatemala. However, this place is uniquely Guatemalan as the cheese and meat are all sourced directly from the country. You won’t find food like this anywhere else in the world. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Thank god the real Artesano Queso y Vino is back home in San Juan. I have been coming to Guatemala for 8 years and always I have been eating the cheeses and drinking the wines, carefully sourced by Dietrich and Chuss. Their own baked bread is amazing too. This is hands down the best cheese platter I have eaten in Latin-Amercia for the past 8 years. After they were in San Marcos for a while, they reopened their place in their original location. This is the real cheese and wine experience in Guatemala, don’t miss it!

I had a lovely romantic lunch with my boyfriend at El Artesano. I was amazed by the cheese platter with 25 delicious cheeses, whilst it’s already very hard to find cheese in Guatemala, let alone good cheese. The service was outstanding and we enjoyed the views. This place was a highlight of my trip to lake Atitlan!

Best place around 150km...
Enjoy the perfect meal.
They came back to San Juan and needed to fix the ambience a little bit more - but hey.... We are in Guatemala and it's still ok

This place is my favorite at the lake. Incredible selection of cheeses and wine, great atmosphere and the owner/chef is amazing. At night they turn into a pizzeria and its the best pizza i have had in Guatemala. Highly recommend, by far some of the best food here!

By far my favorite place around the lake, they only accept people with a reservation. The restaurant is gorgeous and the food is delicious. We ordered the cheese, meats and a fondue. The owner is super friendly as well as the rest of the staff. Go here and have a perfect meal.

Honestly, an amazing spot. Great value. Amazing food, locally sourced. And a really hardworking local/small business that genuinely cares about quality. We were stuffed at the end. We ended up grazing for 3 hours in a really tranquil setting. Message them on google chat or WhatsApp.

Chuss was a phenomenal and knowledgeable host. We had the meat and cheese platters and wines which were all divine - a great way to try something different and find something to your taste. Couldn’t believe all the food was locally sourced from Guatemala! Highly recommended!

Me my wife and a friend were there for a nice evening. Chuss was a great host. He knew so much about the cheese and the meat that he offered to us and also knew exactly which wine would suit it. It is unbelievable that all that food is sourced locally. I am from Switzerland and can tell that the quality of the cheese is the same. It is really recommendable. The best part of all was the service from Chuss. I will go again. Highly recommendable.

We have taken 6 groups of family/friends to enjoy the experience in the last few months, and everyone has really enjoyed it. Chuss, the owner, sources all of the wine and cheese from Guatemala. The wine is primarily from Chile. They also sell pizza, although sometimes that is only available for dinner. The food is great, the wine is good, the setting is fun, the view is great, the service is friendly and helpful, and the overall experience is great!
