Hidden Bay Resort Mentawais

My son and I just got back from staying 7 nights at Hidden Bay Resort on first trip to the Mentawai Islands. Alex and the staff were super welcoming and really went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying the trip. SURF, EAT, SLEEP, RECOVER & Repeat! Small surf groups allowed us to maximize surf time and we never felt pressured to get out of the water until we were ready. Two 3-4hr sessions every day. Alex was really dialed in on the surf spots and made sure we had great days in both challenging and playful waves.

Food was super good and very fresh and abundant! Healthy salads, proteins, and grains kept us going all week. Rooms were great and very clean. The surf video package was really cool to help study our surfing each evening and improve throughout the week. It was a memorable trip and highly recommend checking Hidden Bay.

Alex and the crew made the trip really special and memorable. Alex’s knowledge of the area was second to none and we got waves every day. The food was excellent and the bungalows were very comfortable. Also thanks to Adri for the videos, that added an extra element to the experience that you can take away and remind of your trip at any time! All around a great experience and I can recommend Hidden Bay 100 percent!

Just had the best time at Hidden Bay Resort. The place is a paradise, room are really comfortable and the food is really good.
Alex knows perfectly where to take us to surf as much as possible and the staff was really top ! I strongly recommend the place and will definitely come back soon.

I returned back to hidden bay in the same month for another 12 days because it was so amazing!!

The second time around didn’t disappoint. Once again Alex and his years of experience was evident with the best surfing spots for the conditions continuously being offered. The food remained of top quality standard and my dietary requirements were always met. 🙏🏼

My accommodation was even better this time and my bungalow was a paradise.. to walk along the white sand to main house every morning was the best way to start my surf. Completely immersed in nature while having the full luxury’s was an incredible combination and another praise to hidden bay resort.

I can’t thank the team at hidden bay enough 🙏🏼, as a female solo surfer I was cared and respected for in the highest level, from start to finish.

I truly feel apart of the family and can’t wait to return next season.

I am so glad I did my trip in the Mentawais with Hidden Bay Resort. Everything from pickup to food to surf was going smooth and was incredible. The resort has a very good and family like vibe. Alex the owner, lives in the Ments still 10 years so he always brought us to the best spots at the best time to avoid crowds! All in all this camp is focusing on improving your surfing by providing everything from smoothstar skatesboards to video analysis. Will definetely come back!!

Best vibe, best crew and best food in the Mentawais. Great place for a family surf trip. My kids (8 and 7 years old) surfed everyday, had lots of fun and improved so much! Our 5 year old also had fun swimming and snorkeling with mama! My husband had a blast surfing all kind and size of waves. Highly recommend! Thank you Alex and Luana. Already miss paradise! Incredible place, near of all the waves, incredible crew, always worried about you. The rooms are great! And the resort is like a big family all together hanging around, surfing and having a fantastic time. It's also great for kids, some family with kids gave the resort some good vibes also! About the surf, is incredible the local knowledge by ALEX, he always takes you to the best spot, at the best time, with less crowd! I'll be back for sure! Thanks Alex and all the crew in the resort for making this trip the best of my life.

Excellent experience ! Good vibes, fantastic crew, good food and awesome sessions of Powersurf Training. Everyday warmup and recovery made the difference too. The owner Alex knows everything about the surf spots, swell and winds at Mentawaii. You will be at the right place, at the right time, to surf the best waves. I really recomend !!!

This surf camp resort is a gem! Great facilities, amazing food. It’s close to major surf spots. Alex (the owner) is an expert and a good guy, friendly and has an incredible knowledge of the place. He will put you on the best waves at the best time.

The coach Jack and the physio Scott are phenomenal! My surfing improved a ton as well as my fitness.

Great surf camp! Rooms have excellent AC, firm comfortable beds, and good hot water. Alex does an excellent job taking care of guests and sending boats out to the surf spots with best conditions and timing, twice a day. Food is good. Wifi is pretty good but only works in main building. Photography and surf training is good. Surf guides are great. Excellent location. Staff is very friendly. Would stay again.

It was an amazing experience, me and my girlfriend Jordy flew from Australia and we had a really great and romantic holidays at Hidden Bay Resort! The facilities were great and the food incredible. Really friendly staff and a real good vibe and energy in this place led by Alex. We can’t wait to be back again.

At the Hidden Bay they make sure you get all the good waves at any time of the day. When you're not surfing you're relaxing on the luxury rooms that are always pristine clean or at the spacious and premium lounge where I was able to relax, read good books (which they provide) and, last but certainly not least, develop a solid friendship with Alex and his family. I will return for the waves, the place but mostly to visit my new friends. If you're planning your trip to the Mentawai Islands look no further, just book at the Hidden Bay Resort and see the magic for yourself.

Came to the Ments for about a month and stayed in 4 camps/ resorts. I left the other places early as everyone seems to sleep in. This place is by far the best one. The focus lies on surfing with the fabulous guiding, video coaching, professionally guided warm up and cool down by experienced physio therapists and if wanted additional Powersurf Coaching with surfskates. We barely surfed with other people unless it was pumping at one of the quality spots like Riffles.
Alex, the owner, gives you the warmest welcome and makes his home your home.
It is not a party place so it suits families with kids as well.
Food is fresh and plenty.

I had the most amazing time at the Hidden Bay Resort. I travelled by myself and Alex and the whole staff made me feel so welcome from the start.
Alex knows all the waves very well and always chose the best waves for everyone. I had some epic surfs!!
There was as well a Physio who helped with stretching before and after the surf. The surf coach was fantastic and could instantly tell, where I was stuck with my surfing and provided great techniques to practice on land and then transfer it into the water. I really notice a difference in my surfing!
The accomodation was great. Hot water showers, air con and a comfy bed.
The food was always super delicious, healthy and more than I could eat.
For me, this was more than just a surf trip. Alex, his family and the whole staff made me feel so at home and I had time to recharge and reflect on life.
This was a special trip for me that I will always remember.

If you're planning a trip to Northern Mentawai, look no further than this resort. Having stayed at three different places in the area, I can confidently say that there's just no comparison. Alex, Luana, and their team have thought of everything to make your stay unforgettable.

The main house, a traditional Mentawai-style Uma, is simply ginormous. You'll find everything you need to recover between sessions, from a pilates/yoga room with all the equipment you could want (think swiss balls, hangers, trigger point balls, and a massage gun) to surfskates you can use to practice your moves inside the house. There's also a chill out/play room with a pool table and a large TV where you can watch videos of your surfing exploits, hammocks to relax in, and a sick boardroom with plenty of space to store your equipment.

Another thing really sets this resort apart is the food. It's not just delicious, but also super nutritious, providing the proteins and nutrients you need to fuel your surfing adventures. And the sleeping quarters are top-notch as well – clean, spacious, and kept cool with air conditioning. I slept like a baby every night!

But the real highlight of the resort is the surf guiding. Alex has been living in the area for many years, and his knowledge of local combinations of swells, winds, and crowds is unparalleled. Thanks to his expertise, we got to surf in glassy conditions with literally no one else around for about a third of our sessions.

No doubt the best surf trip accommodation I had in my life. I couldn’t be more thankful to every single person from the Hidden Bay family for making us feel at home. I can’t think of going somewhere else after such a great vacation we had.

Best Mentawais experience you can get. The resort is steps from the ocean, nestled amongst the palm trees, with pristine tropical vibes. The food was great as well with perfect variety. But what made the experience was the waves, Alex’s expertise with the swells, the winds, and the tides, constantly put us in the best surf breaks for the moment. Definitely will return again.
