Icerental 4x4

They picked me up at the airport and we went to the car rental office. I signed all documents which I need and I took to car. They explained all information and insurance policies. I returned the car as location and they dropped me off at the airport. It was really nice smooth service. I definitely recommend.

Icerental 4x4 by far exceeded our expectations. We rented the Subaru XV from them for 9 days and the first day we upgraded to the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. The next day we decided to go back and see if we could be switched back for the originally booked car. They were able to accommodate our request and we were back on the road in 30 minutes. Both cars were impeccably clean(much cleaner than any rental car I've used in the US) and in good mechanical condition. I felt very safe at all times and comfortable. The service with the shuttle and from the staff was timely and friendly. I would rent from them again and I would recommend them to anyone. I felt like they genuinely cared about our satisfaction. Also, I would recommend to anyone booking a car to get the Premium Insurance package for the peace of mind. I think it improved the quality of our vacation to not have to worry about gravel damaging the car as we encountered a lot of gravel roads during our time there.

Really great company. Simple collection process and at no point was I pressured into purchasing any extras. Everything was explained clearly and the staff were friendly. Pick up and drop off from the airport was great. The car was high milage BUT perfect for what we needed and no faults. Clearly they look after their fleet. Would use again when I return to Iceland.

They gave us a really nice Subaru, pretty much brand new, all small scratches on it were documented on the paper. Everything went smooth. Overall great experience! Not to mention very reasonable costs of rental compared to other companies.

We got here the perfect car for our 3.700 km tour (combination of 70% road, 20% track and 10% F-road with water crossings).
Maybe also because we had discussed what we were going to do with the rental company beforehand.
The Nissan Qashqai had brand new AT tyres, which worked perfectly even in the snow. To the front-wheel drive, you can automatically engage rear-wheel drive with a switch - or, if you can foresee it, manually beforehand with 100% mechanical lock.
Otherwise, our manual / diesel had all the necessary and modern conveniences and was technically 100% OK. 200,000 km and a few horse bites (seems common in Iceland) in the paintwork were perfectly fine. We didn't want to have to worry about a new car anyway.
This car was an absolue reliable companion - and became almost a friend.
Icelandic easy going Pick-up during the day and return in the middle of the night.
Suggeston:
For the pick-up at the airport, perhaps a simple mobile poster stand with the name / sign of the rental company waiting at the exit to the outside would be helpful. We first walked past and froze a bit while waiting for the bus to the car rental 400 m away, only to be told by the bus driver that the Icerental / Northern Lights agent was waitg for us in the arrivals hall.

The staff were extremely friendly. They were clear with their instructions and provided additional information relevant to parking etc. The drivers were picked up at the airport so I missed my navigating passenger but it was OK. The pick up site was 10 minutes or so from the airport but this is reflected in the price. We got our extra insurance from the broker so a deposit was withheld which was refunded promptly upon three safe return of the vehicle. Next time, I'd try and get insurance directly to avoid this. Good, reliable, and fast service. The vehicle itself was fine, got us through all of Iceland just fine. Only minor problems, but nothing major. Overall trustworthy service and I enjoyed my experience with this company.

Very friendly and competent staff. Thanks to the online check-in, registering at the counter and handing over the vehicle was very quick and easy. Only the transport from the airport to the station was a bit chaotic due to the many people arriving at the same time. The return also went smoothly. Gladly again.

The car was in good conditions, ready for the adventure. The personnel was kind and attentive. We needed to return the car early (4:00am) since our flight back was scheduled for 06:00am, the process went smooth and quick and the shuttle service was ready to take us to the airport almost immediately.

We booked 2x Dacia Duster 4x4 for 15 days and got a free upgrade on site (automatic, fairly new, well equipped and in very good condition).
It is important to note that only the main driver will be picked up by the shuttle. The other people are waiting at the airport. This worked well both in the evening when our plane was late and early in the morning at 4am.
Insurance will be offered again upon acceptance. It is advisable to know in advance what is already covered by the insurance you have booked so that you do not take out double insurance. Friendly employees at the counter.

Very friendly und professional service. I would recommend the all inclusive insurance. We got a Duster with all-wheel drive and spikes, and hab no problems on the slippery ice roads.

I rented a Skoda Octavia 2022 car from this company for 3 weeks. It was my first time renting and so I wasn't able to do a proper check on the wheels. After 6 days driving around the Westfords, we got a flat tyre and so we went to a car mechanic (with our own cost) and they informed us that our two front tyres were old and needed to be replaced. We did informed the company that we need to change the tyres. So they sent us to their partner mechanic to change our tyres at their own cost.
So i recommend this company for doing a great job in assisting us during those time. I would also recommend to get their premium insurance if you're driving the whole island since there are so many gravel roads.

really nice rentak company, enjoyed every bit of our time using their rental car, and we got to travel the whole southern coast of Iceland, which I think is very impressive 😃🇮🇸. overall no problems with their car and had a comfortable cozy (and most importantly warm, cos its dead cold outside) ride with their car😃. would recommend, for their ease of business, booking, getting the car, returning it and all the packages that they offer to make sure we are safe during our rental period. their cars are nice too 👍🏼😃 totally recommended🇮🇸

Hired a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross with a roof tent. Car was very new and great to drive. I received very thorough information upfront about what the car could and couldn’t drive through which, as someone not familiar with the conditions of F roads in Iceland, was very helpful.
Highly recommend, would rent from these guys again.

We booked a Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with a roof tent from icerental 4x4 for 3 weeks. It was reliable but was probably on of the oldest rental cars in Iceland (had 260.000 km on it). The Car had scratches, dents and rust all over it but all the mechanical and electrical parts worked fine. Pick up and drop off were easy and fast with no hassle (included airport transfer). We chose the premium insurance package, which was the right call, because we had a big rock chip in the front windshield. Nonetheless no additional costs or hidden fees. I can recommend Icerental 4x4 to anyone who wants an easy and transparent rental car experience with a reasonable price in Iceland - just don't expect the latest model.

Fantastic price and service. Picked up by shuttle from the airport within 5 minutes to the Icerental base 5 minutes drive away. The car was in perfect condition and had winter studded tyres fitted so was a pleasure to drive on the snowy roads.
Upon return of the vehicle, after a quick inspection of the car, we were back on the shuttle to the airport within 10 minutes.

Will definitely use again and recommend.

Overall IceRental 4x4 was the perfect car hire experience for our short break in Iceland.

We had a fairly short wait for the shuttle bus in the arrivals hall (approx. 40mins), but they were helpful when we called for an update and the pick-up process was quick and easy.

There was a fair amount of cosmetic damage to vehicle we hired but still very good value for money and it proved to be reliable.

We opted for the basic insurance option and took out 3rd party rental cover. Luckily this wasn’t required, but would recommend to others given how unpredictable the roads and weather can be in Iceland.

Booked a 4x4 for 12 days. The shuttle service from the airport and to the airport ran smoothly. Car was as good as new. Staff very friendly. Will definitely book here again ☺

Great car rentals! We had a Dacia Duster during our time in Iceland and it was just what we needed! Made getting around on the snow so easy. The people who work at Icerental are more than helpful, very polite and couldn't do enough for you! We will definitely use them again when we come back!
