We stayed overnight here - simple, but great hotel, super location - we were heading towards Westfjords from here. The restaurant was serving delicious fish 👍 the local staff was friendly and ready to explain some hidden gems of the Westfjord’s Region next to the large Iceland map they have in the entrance hall.

Restaurant and hotel are run by ownership, which directly tanslates to the love and care that goes with agency. Accomodations are exactly as expected (clean and functional), and the restaurant is run with care. Chef (along with the owner) makes excellent food with no corners cut, most emblematic in their serving of handmade ice cream that comes out of experimenting in the kitchen. Really excellent - love this spot.

The rooms are so spacious, the restaurant is superb and orders an array of beers and vegetarian options. The scenic surrounding areas offer all sorts of attractions. And most importantly the staff is friendly, warm, and personable!!

Great place to stay in NE Iceland. Whether you're traveling to the Westfjords or just want to get away from it all, Hotel Ljósaland is the place to go. It's a little difficult to find and the wind whips through the open mountains, so dress for the weather.

We stayed in this little hotel overnight on the way back from the Westfjords to Reykjavik, as it's about halfway into the 7-8hour drive from Isafjordur. You don't actually stay in the main building, but in some purpose built cabins round the back. These are very well built and definitely warm enough inside! (When we were staying the wind was gusting at over 100KPH and you could hardly hear it in the rooms.
There is a self serve breakfast available at the hotel for €8 (£7, $9USD). Which consists of a selection of cereals, breads, meats/cheeses and a coffee machine - good value in Iceland!
The beds in the room were comfortable with memory foam style mattresses and the bathroom/room was very clean, with a powerful shower.
The attached restaurant also cooks some meals which are amazing (some of the best dishes I had in Iceland) - The Buried Salmon starter was so good we had to order a second plate!
Topping off our amazing food was the fact that this hotel is so remote there is virtually no light pollution and we were treated with a spectacular view of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).

Great place to stay for one or two nights during the visit to the west fiords. Very good food in the restaurant, clean, good wifi, spacious,.. and close to a cosy hotpot, a must do experience in Iceland! Helpful staff too.

The young couple who holds the place is very kind. With one of their friends, they offered us a cool night of alcohol, pool (billard) and even local stories ! Lost in the middle of nowhere, very quiet. The only thing I regret is the headache in the morning due to the tequila ! Very recommended !
