Stunning place with neat history.
The gravel road is doable without a 4x4 vehicle, just go slow.
Lots of neat birds and great view of the Atlantic.

Epic location, the drive is quite testing in the winter but worth it. Unfortunately the sky got dark by the time we reached the lighthouse. Don’t trust the time duration google maps shows you because it takes 5x more time than that to get there!

A very special lighthouse located on a high cliff with a breathtaking view of the endless ocean. Full of birds of different kinds flying over the sea. Just a dream.

Beautiful spot. A bit of a drive on rock roads to get in, but worth the view.

Bright orange like the pictures!!!

The road to it is partially paved until you hit the beach. (Mid-point) the rest is a winding gravel road, which if you have a camper van like me, it feels like you’re traveling to the ends of the Earth feeling every little bump.

However, totally worth it. It is a wheelchair accessible once you arrive. They have a viewpoint that is guided by a wooden deck that is very well-made.

You could also view the ocean and some rocks in the water along this amazing coast. And see many birds.

It was great to be able to adventure, pass the white house and see the coastline on foot .

Nice little stop as you’re visiting the peninsula. Road to getting here is bumpy so it will take longer than your gps tells you to arrive. Nice views of the cliffs and seabirds nesting along the shore. Orange lighthouse is striking against the blue sky.

If you are traveling the Peninsula I would recommend to make this a stop. You will find very few people here and will have amazing photo opportunities with the beautiful orange color of this lighthouse and the amazing volcanic cliff coastline. The road getting here is a an unpaved twisty road through lava fields with many potholes and only wide enough for one car so passing is an effort. Whatever your GPS tells you allow more time. There is small parking and it is free to visit.

One of the most fascinating places we stopped at be prepared to drive on a gravel road for a while. You can also see one of the beige beaches on your way to see this lighthouse.
The lighthouse isn’t even the best part of this place. It’s the birds and the absolute stunning scenery. It literally took my breath away. And the lady behind me had the exact same reaction I did when she walked down to view this amazing place.

The road was OK for all types of cars but I prefer an SUV to reach there. It took about 15 minutes from the highway.

A little difficult to reach due to the dirt road, but we did it with a big van so it’s not problem. The road is not big enough for 2 cars so there could be some additional ability in moving, but nothing a person can’t do.
Totally worth coming here, one of the best places in Iceland, so free and uncontaminated, really good place to spot all types of birds in their nest and take breathtaking photos. Come here at 18-19 and there is an amazing light.
Really small parking and free.

Getting there will be a stretch of gravel uneven road. Don’t need a 4x4 to get there. The view of the light house is beautiful with rocky landscape around it. Parking is limited at the end of the road, max no more than 10 cars.

A great place for a seaside view. Not only is it a neat lighthouse to see, the vantage point has beautiful views of cliffs and the shoreline.
You can’t go in the lighthouse but can easily walk up to it. The pathway also leads to some great cliff overlooks.
The road here is very twisty through lava fields, and not all of it is paved. If you take your time it is not hard to drive. However, if you drive as slow as the glacier’s pace in the distance, please be kind and pull over for others, so they can see the lighthouse that same day :)

Very beautiful National Park and Lighthouse. Definitely worth the visit. The road was pretty bumpy to get there. We had 4x4 van.

After some hard rocky drive, the bright yellow lighthouse is a great reward. The rock formations along the edge are spectacular. It’s also a great place for bird watching. It’s quite windy though.

Good view and the place was not busy at all. The drive was a bit rough. The road was gravelly so better to have a SUV or a vehicle with good ground clearance.

Beautiful spot on the edge of the peninsula
with nice view on a natural arch and a big rock
The drive through the dirt road was quite fun too

Absolutely beautiful lighthouse with incredible views on the coastline. The road will take you much longer than your GPS predicts as it is a dirt/gravel combo road. When we were there in mid-June they were bringing in more dirt to fill in the bad holes on the last 100m stretch up to the lighthouse. We had to park and walk the rest of the way. The winds can be strong along the coast so make sure to stay along the guard rails.

The road to get there is not the most awful one you've ever seen but having an SUV or at least a small 4x4 may make it easier than à "classic" car (even though it's probably doable by car). The lighthouse is nice for a quick look but what I liked the most was the different views on the cliffs. There are loads of birds and by loads, I mean loads.

very cute and scenic place on the cliffy coast of Snæfellsnes. The lighthouse can be reached by a medium long drive off of the main road on a bumpy gravel road.

we were there in late September and did sadly not see any of the birds that nest there earlier in the year. still a worthwhile trip for the view onto the ocean and Snefelljøkull.

Make sure you walk down to the viewing platform to see the rock bridge formation.
