We had a very nice dinner with many different dishes, all fresh and very well prepared at Margret’s house. It was one of the best food we had in 3 weeks Sri Lanka! The atmosphere felt like home. We had a really nice conversation with her daughters and a super driving service from her husband. We are very grateful for this special memory! All the best from Sophie & Davide. We will highly recommend your place and will come back.

if you after an authentic home cooked Sri Lankan dinner in Nilaveli (beach north of Trncomalee) then King Coconut is your answer. WhatsApp Raja/ Margaret in the morning and Margaret will prepare a delish multiple dish curry for you that evening. We booked for just the 2 but they can cater for larger numbers. You are invited into their home and get a real taste of Sri Lankan life. Raja can pick up & deliver you from/to your accommodation . Cost was 2500 LR/person for dinner, a good price for home made curry which was delicious. We had a wonderful evening and highly recommend.

We have been traveling Sri Lanka for almost 7 weeks now and to date this was by far the best meal we had, the food is so delicious!! Best eggplant curry we ever had. The family is very kind, open and we really enjoyed the time we spent there, great memories! We definitely hope to come back one day, can highly recommend!
Just give a three hours notice before you come and everything will be cooked fresh!

The best restaurant in Nilaveli. They just need 1 hour notice and they will prepare amazing/Health/authentic dinner at there Home. They charged as 4500 LR for dinner with drinks which I believe is really good price for fish and Many curry. Place is tidy. Raja and Margaret are wonderful and Hospitable family.
Highly recommend for other tourist to visit there authentic restaurant. 🍓🥑

At the first glance just your average roadside cool spot, I just wanted to grab a King Coconut and Lemonade - both excellent by the way! - and then continue my exploration of Nilaveli.
However, I started to talk with lovely Margaret, who spent some time in Frankfurt, Germany, and her husband Raja, and they offered to prepare lunch for me the next day. Hands-down the best vegetarian rice and curry I've had in my 5 week Sri Lanka trip (and I had a lot!) which they serve in their lovely home with a nice garden, just around the corner of their streetside stall. You'll have to make arrangements upfront, but it truly is worth it and I ended up eating there every day during my stay in Nilaveli.

Amazing home cooked dinner! When you stop for a fresh and delicious coconut drink at King Coconut Cafe, don’t forget to ask Margaret when she can cook for you. Or simply call in the morning or a day before to book your dinner.

She and her husband Raja host these lovely dinners at their family home. The food was simply one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka and the hospitality and conversation was warm and welcoming. Raja picked us up in his Tuktuk (the biggest tuktuk in town, there’s even space for suitcases), and Margaret cooked us a huge and delicious dinner! Do not miss this experience in Nilaveli!

I read review on Tripadvisor for this place and immediately called the owner if he could cook dinner for 4 people within 1.5 hours. They agreed and this was one of the best experiences in Sri Lanka :)
Raja & Margaret have 3 nice kids. Margaret speaks German and English very well ;) also Raja speaks great English! We had a lovely rice and curry also with fish and ice cream soda in their house :) It was a great experience with true local vibe and we're coming back tomorrow! They invited us for their celebration of 22nd wedding anniversary. ;) Truly looking forward to it.

Home-cooked food with a very high standard. For me this is the best food you could get in Sri Lanka. This lovely family can prepare both authentic Sri Lankan food as well as delicious dishes with a European twist. I've been visiting Nilaveli for many years and always come back to meet this family. Amazing food, amazing people, super lovely atmosphere. You need to book in advance so they prefer a set menu for you which is very tasty and super filling. The best restaurant we visited in Sri Lanka, highly recommended!

We had dinner here and it was a great experience! We had an amazing dinner in the garden of their house. All were fresh ingredients, cooked with love. And the people are very welcoming and friendly . The best experience in Sri Lanka!
