One of the most authentic tours I’ve ever done. Fully immersed in the jungle, with respect to the animals. César is a very good guide with knowledge and passion for what he does. This is not a zoo and that is why we decided to do this tour as the money from it goes to the animal rescue. At the end of the tour we had the chance to swim in one of the most beautiful cenotes.

Great place in Akumal to visit or to stay for a few days. They do an excellent job rescuing, giving shelter, healing and preparing the animals to return to their natural environment.
We had the chance to see how they work with the special and rare mayan bees. The meliponini, whose honey has lots of properties for our health.
Swimming in the cenote was the best way to cool off after the pleasant walk listening Antonio about plants and animals, their characteristics and behavior and much more. The lunch presented by Ingrid at their open palapa restaurant was delicious abundant and carefully prepared. We had fresh fish and vegetables. Yummy!
It was an amazing experience and we value the admirable job that they do at the Akumal Natura Rescue center.

I have visited other animal sanctuaries before so I can say that Akumal Natura Rescue is truly unique!! They care for these animals so much & always try to release them back into the wild when possible. We had a great time on our tour with Cesar who was very kind, funny, and knowledgeable. You can really tell the animals trust & love him and it was amazing to see the different personalities of the animals! 🦜🐒🐢🩷 The cenotes here are also beautiful, it was a once in a lifetime experience!! Thanks again to Cesar & Antonio for organizing this tour :)

Highly recommend! Spend half a day with Ceasar, perfect balance of walk/ interractions/learning. They are highly respectful with animals. The main goal is to lead the animals on they're way back to nature. Don't forget non toxic mosquitos repellent .

It was a very interesting and well explained tour.
The combination of seeing and getting insightful information about the rescued animals and the exclusive cenotes was magnificent.
We can truly recommend the tour.
Our tour guide Cesar really loves his job and gave a great tour. He also gave us good tips for our road trip around Yucatan.

Great activity for interactive fun with the animals of the jungle. Some of the best pictures of our whole vacation came from here. There's a short walking tour where you visit each of several different animal settings, followed by a monkey encounter and a local Mayan snack at the end. You can also go 4-wheeling or swim in a "cenote" which is a cave pool if you want! Friendly staff ready to help with anything you need to be comfortable. Safe and clean, with attention to every detail.

This place is a little gem. The guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. It was really interesting to hear about the different stages that the animals and birds are helped through by the sanctuary to eventually be reintroduced to the jungle. The work that this sanctuary does is very much needed and is completely funded by people visiting. Completely non profit. We were also given the opportunity to try the fantastic honey that is produced around their sanctuary which also helps with the running of the place from the funds made from honey sales.
The children also enjoyed riding in the open back of the 4x4 going to and from the beautiful cenota which we were privileged to have a swim in.
This place is well worth a visit and does not cost as much as some of the other tours in the area.

We had an amazing time visiting this animal sanctuary. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the natural environment and the animals in their care. We learned a lot about the native bees, plants in the jungle, and the animals. We got to feed many of the animals as well. The cenote we visited was stunning. This was a highlight of our visit to the Yucatán.

We met other tourists who recommended the animal natura rescue to us, otherwise we wouldn’t have found out about it. Not to be mistaken with the sanctuary close by! We are very lucky that we did hear about it and even luckier because we got a private tour for just the two of us! Our tour guide Caesar was very friendly, knew a lot about the rescue and genuinely cared for the animals. He made it very clear that they weren’t a zoo, which was important for us. The whole tour was incredible and extremely interesting, we were able to feed some animals and got every question answered. The cenote at the end of the tour was incredible as well! We even bought some honey in the end, so all in all we had a wonderful time and experience. If you think about visiting, please don’t forget your mosquito repellent and your camera, unlike us…
Keep up the good work in the future and thank you very much!

I am usually skeptical about animal rescue in foreign countries particularly. This is truly a rescue sanctuary. Our guide, Cesar explained the reason why each of the animals was in their care, and if the animal was in a position to become wild again, they make every effort to do so.

Some of the animals came from zoos, or people who had bad ideas of having wild animals as pets, and they cannot be released. But this place gives them the room far away in the jungle to exist.

And if the long ride into the jungle wasn’t enough, we were exposed to one of the most intimate and breathtaking cenote‘s I have seen. This company is doing it right and I fully support them

Caesar took us on an incredible, life-changing adventure today! His love of the animals is infectious! We learned so much and experienced the jungle in a whole new way! The interactions with the animals, and the swim in the cenote was second-to-none! Highly recommend the unique honey! Tip: wear good walking shoes and take bug spray with you.
Five stars all the way around!!!!

Had an amazing tour here with Chris! Was a wonderful experience for the whole family, including small kids. It’s obvious they care deeply about the animals and the environment and we learned a lot. The cenote at the end was a bonus, one of the most beautiful we’ve seen. We didn’t know what to expect when we booked it, but it was very worth it!

Our guide was Cesar who was fantastic. He loves the animals and vice versa. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon - they actually rescue and rehabilitate animals - birds, monkeys, snakes, and they have an apiary and we learned about the bees and tasted their honey. The cenote at the end was beautiful. they only allow small groups which makes the experience so much better. Gracias Cesar !!! Vanessa Kirk and Ross

César was an excellent guide for our tour of the Akumal Natura wildlife refuge! He was extremely knowledgeable and you can tell he truly cares about his job and each of the animals very much. He had history on all of the animals; how they were found, the situations they were in before, and how the refuge was working to rehabilitate each of them with the ultimate goal to release them into the jungle. He also explained the efforts they are taking to work on increasing the population of the various animals in the jungle, many of which are endangered today. They even have a large African tortoise they rescued and take care of from someone who never should have had it as a pet, even though it’s not one of the pets native to the jungle. It’s very cool that the refuge is so deep into the jungle as well, as their releases take place right outside of the refuge. The Cenote we got to swim in was fully inside of a cave and had so many stalactites as well, an excellent one to check out as well! We also got to purchase some fresh honey from the local Mayan bees, which is very different (and very good) from what we’re used to. This tour is very much recommended!

Cesar is a tour guide and he is super nice. He treats the animals very lovingly and mentions the sad fate they had to experience. It was a very nice tour!
I'll come again🫶

We had a fun trip to the natura rescue. We learned a lot about the local wildlife and fauna. The highlight was a swim in the cenote. Bring your mask and snorkel for an even better view of the underwater beauty. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.

My wife and I visited the Akumal Natura Rescue while recently visiting the area. Let me preface that we are both very active in multiple Michigan animal rescue programs.
We were nothing but completely impressed by ANR. The variety of animals to interact with was outstanding. Among the animals in their rescue are: Spider Monkey, Owls, Eagles, Boa Constrictors, Parrots, Macaws, a local species of pig and many more.
Also on offering at ANR are samples of natural Gum Tree 'gum', Cinnamon leaves, SourSop Tea (reported to have anti-cancer properties) and delicious honey made by the Tetragonisca angustula stingless bee.
Both the owner and our guide for the tour were very generous with their time and knowledge. Not only giving us a very thorough tour of the facility but also taking the time to answer all of our questions and point out much of the local flora as well.
Their cenote was beautiful and great for a refreshing swim after our tour. All of the money raised from the tours / food goes directly back into the support of the animals at the facility.
ANR also engages in some re-population and release programs for many of the species in their care.
They also kindly gave us a ride back to the door of our hotel, included in the package price.
If you love animals and have any wish to support a well-run and caring animal rescue, go visit ANR. It was a great experience.

One of the best experiences. Our guide Gabo gave us a wonderful tour, and it was amazing how well they cared about the animals they've rescued. It was fun to interact with monkeys and parrots, followed by a private cenote swim.
