Taverna Os Templários

We visited this beautiful restaurant on a busy Sunday afternoon. The views from the terrace are outstanding. Service was excellent, with friendly staff and head waiter who spoke excellent English.

Our food was of a high standard, with good wine. I enjoyed the Roast Lamb whilst my husband enjoyed the Pig Cheeks.

Thank you all for making our trip to Monsaraz so very special, would definitely recommend this superb restaurant.

Monsaraz 😍 our 6th drop-off point in East Portugal and we had our dîner in this restaurant. We absolutly enjoyed this evening in Taverna os Templârios . Dishes were well prepaired and tasties . A smiling, efficient and communicative waiter . Perfect atmosphere and Nice restaurant environment , calm and in addition a terrace and wonderfull view *****

Wonderful location , from the terrace you see till Spain..
The food is excellent and the service is professional and quick.
The espresso topped the deal … and made my day..

Very good restaurant with an amazing scenic view.
It’s quite popular, so booking in advance is recommended.
The dishes are local, tasty with different flavos and good portions.

This was such an amazing spot. I ordered the octopus and it was cooked to perfection and served with delicious potatoes and vegetables. This place also had amazing views of the Portuguese countryside. All-in-all, I would definitely come back to this small town just for this restaurant.

Absolutely fantastic. We had to wait for a table but it was worth it. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food fantastic - we had the lamb and the pork cheeks. The view was the best in the village. Absolutely a must visit if you are near Evora.

Our entire experience in Monsaraz exceeded expectations - and that included our wonderful meal at Taverna Os Templarios. We ended lunch our on the veranda. And the delicious food and wine were accentuated by the breathtaking views of the country side.

Read some bad reviews of this place but decided to try it anyway. Don’t know where those people dined, but it wasn’t here. The food was excellent and we ended up going back for a light tapas-type meal the next day. Service was top notch. Try the Bacalhau Gratinado.
Views from the covered patio are breathtaking.

Excellent food, excellent view, prices adequated to the taste, preparation and quality of the food. When visiting the castle of Monsaraz, and wanting yo have lunch, I recommend this restaurant. It well be worth it. We had "bacalhau com espinafres e camarões", "polvo à templário", and for dessert "Sericá com doce de ameixa", and everything was tasty, the octopus was very tender anf well served. The staff is very nice.

A wonderful evening meal with a panoramic view of Monsaraz. Although we arrived quite late, the restaurant kindly accommodated us - with such a fabulous dinner! A good note is that their menus include various allergy information which is quite rare! The bacalao & cheese bake was simply stunning. Note that google states this place closes at 2am - the kitchen closes at 9:30pm so ensure to get there with plenty of time to enjoy the view and some amazing food, and all for a fairly reasonable price!

Fantastic restaurant right on the edge of the castle walls with beautiful views across the valley from the outdoor terrace.
The service was excellent and the food was even better.
The pork cheeks and roast potatoes were probably the best I’ve ever had, and the bacalhau & prawn cheese bake was also very delicious. Good selection of wines too.
Would HIGHLY recommend.

We had the lamb. Very tasty with crispy potatoes. 5 out of 5 stars! My friends got the pig cheeks and the bacalhau (codfish) which they recommended as well. The staff was very friendly too.
You should place a reservation in order to get a table on the terrace otherwise you might miss the scenic view!
In summary we recommend the restaurant and would come back at any time again!

The food is delicious. Try the octopus. They have a gorgeous outdoor deck with stunning views but remember to make a reservation.

We had a delicious meal on a Thursday evening. Not too busy & excellent service & food. Highly recommend the mushroom starter, the pig's cheek, the dogfish soup and the chocolate mousse.

Food was really good:
Bochechas de porco preto, I had those in other restaurants, this was by far the best. The waiter told me it’s the best dish in the house.
Plus açorda de cação, also really good.
Had a glass of house wine (white), good enough.
We stayed at the balcony, amazing view, but can be a bit hot.
Service was ok. A bit slow, since they were packed.
One negative:
A couple thought it was a good idea to smoke a pack of cigarettes since they were “outside”. Ofc the smoke also goes to other tables. Nice people everywhere…
Anyway, if you go to this area, you shouldn’t miss this place.
