Exciting to be there. You cannot enter Myanmar but see it from the Thai side

Really authentic trip which we only did by chance. Amazing amount of shops and stalls and really interesting to be right at the Myanmar border knowing what is going on just over the border. Recommend a visit if you have time

The Border just reopened after 3 years so there was lots of traffic and lots of people. It was nice to see all the people passing over and looking happy to go back to the neighboring countries.

A very nice town. An achievement to have reached there from Singapore by bike.

Pretty cool little area. It’s a very busy border crossing. Unfortunately, for us we were not allowed to cross. Myself having an American passport and my gf having a Filipino passport were stopped at the border. Not allowed to pass. Only persons with a Myanmar passport can go through. It was a Monday evening and it was extremely busy with cars and people crossing. It’s mostly just a photo op and a chance to buy some souvenirs. We had a few drinks and a good meal at a restaurant that overlooks the river. It’s not a beautiful place but it was okay for a day trip. Go to Laos for your visa run as it’s much less people and it’s actually open.

Although it is far away, I am very happy to see the bridge leading to Myanmar by land. There is a local market nearby so it is very busy

Sweet homecoming for me to see this spot again after 2.5 years away from Thailand. The border bridge behind the sign is still closed. So happy to say I was here.

Now hear this: the border crossing at Mae Sai to Tachileik, Myanmar is ONLY open to Thai and Burmese. While it looks really busy as far as the pedestrian and vehicle traffic, NO farang (foreigners) are being allowed to cross at this border point. Forget about trying to talk your way into Myanmar. Not going to happen.

For the fun of standing at the northernmost point of Thailand. How ever when I look at the map I think there are places there are further north in Thailand.

I found a place further west that seemed more northerly, but when I tried to drive there I was stopped by border guards who said I couldn't get all the way to where I wanted to go.

Because of Covid, there are tighter controls along the border, so I'll give it another try next time I'm in the area

Was nice visit over all. Wish I had time to get closer to the mountains. So beautiful!
People were friendly. Spoke more English then most areas. That was very helpful for me.

Get the feel of being in Myanmar without ever crossing over the border. It is a Burmese market.Tachileik is just across the river which is the border.
