The U-Turn

After learning that local Thai people like this restaurant we visited it and had a satisfying dinner there.

The service was quick. We ordered Thai dishes such as Tom Yum soup and Thai style spicy salmon salad. We also tried beef steak, which was tender and juicy. The shrimps were easy to open and tasty. It was difficult to finish the Tom Yum soup that had many vegetables and shrimps in it.

The restaurant has many other dishes from different countries but it is better to go there for Thai food. The good thing was we did not pay a high bill.

After dining in here, I can understand why its called 'The U-Turn'. Funny thing I did not know it exist until I came there & I can tell you it might be the few & maybe only place that deserve 5/5 for everything: food, service, atmosphere.

Now, imagine a restaurant that is full but still feels that you can get a table as soon as you arrive. The U-Turn is super spacious yet still have room for more diners! Ideal for the big families on vacation, there are plenty of tables on the second floor & you'll never be short on dining options 🥂

The menu is not short of whatever you want or the food you came from(except for those exotic kind of food e.g. Greek) but since you're there, you should already be trying what Thailand has to offer in terms of cuisine!

P.S.: If you're fussy about how your Tom Yam taste like, I can tell that the dish served here is not as spicy, more towards creamy to tackle the sourness. Overall, its a preference not a bad pointer.

The restaurant lives up to its name & the service is as pleasant as the food & atmosphere. The staffs adopts a different tipping service where you don't just tip one personal staff but they will evenly distributed the amount.

Even though the food is a little pricey, I feel that compensate for the food they serve here & the service for provide 💪

Our group of 7 enjoyed an amazing meal here. The food and service was wonderful. Highly recommended! These are not even all the dishes we got, just to give you an idea that the portions are very large. You don't want to miss this place.

My wife and I decided let's go to Koh Chang for a few hours have something to eat.
Came across this restaurant called the U turn, decided to give it a try.
Spacious, clean, upstairs and downstairs seating, clean and friendly service.
Plates , cutlery and glasses clean.
Toilets better than most.
The food was delicious 😋 ordered more than enough for two.
My wife enjoyed the pork chop most.
I enjoyed the seafood 🤤
Would I eat here again? YES.

Location:
About 300m south of busy shops and restaurants and 600m north of hotels area. The location is less busy and have lower foot falls. The place is easier to go if you have vehicle. Car parking was limited to empty space next to the place and the street in front of it. Motorcycle is easier to park than the cars. Locals frequent this place so you know the place is not a rip-off.
Note that the second floor has only stairsnso it's not wheelchair accessible but ground floor is, at least on the gravel-paved sections. It won't be easy to punch wheelchair though but the tables are close to entrance.

Atmosphere:
There are 4 areas I can see. Second floor has big screen TV but not sure what is normally on. One of the downstair zone seems to aim at large groups. Decoration is simple and is used to identify each zone.

Staff and service:
Friendly and polite. First dish (pizza and fries) came within 15 minutes. Note that we went there before busy hours though. They served the wrong pizza in the first visit so please confirm the menu when they served.

Food:
We visited the place twice because my wife loved it, a lot. Everything is delicious. We tried pizzas, Thai, Mexican, steak, and (non-alcoholic) drinks. Everything was good, probably except lamb ribs (฿299?) which they used onions to manage the odor but it turned out too strong and weakened the dish instead. We order Parma pizza (฿249) but received Hawaiian (฿189) instead but the Hawaiian was still hot and delicious. Crockle Salad (฿140), though not largest (but not small, mind you) didn't have odor that comes when it's getting old/stale so they were very fresh. Chicken Enchiladas (฿189) was creamy and had so much chicken that we thought they slaughtered entire country's chicken population for the dish. Horseshoe Crab Somtum (฿120) had a large crab with it too. Crispy pork (฿90) came in the size larger than anywhere in Bangkok with the same or little pricier. They are very well done. Lychee soda was delicious as well.
They also have Cambodian food but we were too full to try.

Price:
Comparable to Bangkok. They didn't allow us to take the receipt so the price I stated above might not be all correct.

Cleanliness:
The dining area was clean. No leftovers no trash. Staff are well groomed. We found nothing suspicious in our food. We didn't visit the WC so no info on that.

The food is excellent. Especially the ribeye steak, juicy, and taste is delicious. As they put some rosemary while cooking the steak. We went almost everyday while we stayed in Koh Chang. The prices are so cheap.

Amazing food, price ok, and many varieties of food. We had dinner in this restaurant all the evenings, good and tasty food, not expensive. My favourite, fried garlic squid. Maybe they should improve some of the service staff, but still the best option around.

One of the best Thai food in Koh Chang, the staff was very helpful and nice, food was amazing and the taste very good. Value of price.

Great food and service. Prices are very fair too. Wish I found this place sooner. I will be back for more.

visit UTurn for 2 years, really enjoy delicious Thai food, fresh seafood and good European food. Location is good easy to find and usually have a lot of parking lots.

Open thai restaurant with amazing seafood and also mexican food or pizza.. prices sre really good and the food just taste amazing. U get a lot for what u pay. We come back for sure. Try some seagood here.. u will love it..🐒🐵😃

Very good food, pretty huge portions, my husband ate the fajitas and they were very big.

I was driving past this and did a u turn because it was full with locals. The food was so good I went back 4 nights in a row. The yellow, panang and red curries are incredible. They're big so you can easily share if you each get a rice. They do serve veggie curries although they don't specify that on the menu. The restaurant is one of the few on the island that has a great atmosphere.

Best restaurant during my stay in Koh chang. Plenty of options (Italian, Mexican, Thai...) on the menu and yes...originally I thought that the food must be average if it’s a mix of western and Asian food selection. But I was pleasantly surprised that the food is sooooo good! We ordered everything from the Thai menu and everything tastes great! Very authentic Thai flavor, big portion of everything, not to mention that the price is so cheap (e.g. 270 baht for my favorite grilled fish, 60 baht for a big plate of fresh morning glory). Strongly recommend!
