Then you will see a lot of bats inside , don’t worry from them )

Highly recommend visiting these caves! Ali, the guide of the caves, gives an explanation of how the caves were discovered and how rock formations are formed. The caves consist of one big and a small cave which are connected. It is family friendly!

Nungwi, Zanzibar offers a captivating experience with its vast caves adorned with crystals, stalactites, and stalagmites. Ali, a knowledgeable and multilingual guide, ensures visitors are well taken care of throughout their exploration. The presence of friendly camellias adds to the enchantment of this must-visit destination.

Nice program when you visit Kendwa/Nugwi. There are 2 caves and 1 chamelon “centre” to visit here. Alltogether it takes 1 hour and costs 25.000 shilling for one person. Its also hot inside the cave, so you dont need to bring any warm clothes.

We visited the Chamäleon farm which was very interesting. You can see around 12 different Chamäleons of wonderful colours and sizes. The young guy who manages the farm gave us a lot of information. Very recommendable for a short visit.

Must do activity.

This place was really fun. There are two parts with seperate entrance fees. There are the caves and also the chameleon center. There are two caves discovered in 2013. One is super hot and the other is cooler. There are massive stalagmites, spider crabs and bats. The caves are a fun experience to see, the guide was really great and it was all around something fun and different to do.

They provide torches but if you have one I would bring it.

I went with a guide. You can either get a taxi there or a dala dala that goes past the main road. There were good signs on the left hand side that you can see from the main road. It is a 10 minute walk from the main road.

We went to the chameleon part only, it is in the same place as the caves. We all loved learning about and holding the chameleons + watching them eat, fascinating tongues! 🤣

Unbelievable place!
Entrance to Caves only with guides, and cost per tourist 20.000 tsh. Better for you to have own had-wearing lighter, to free your hands for camera and safety.
Also, wear non-slipy shoes, and train your legs some days, to avoid close contact between your had and stones.

This place could be boring and challenging if you expect something spectacular. However, I enjoyed my time being down on the ground:)
