Opera Hotel

Reflecting a year on from our weeks stay at Opera, it certainly was the best part of our visit to Zanzibar. The food was consistently fantastic, I remember eating three types of brucetta in the restaurant there which I really recommend; avocado, tomato and mango. The breakfasts were varied and included many great food options. The location was fantastic, a short walk from the beach and down the road from local amenities and other beach side bars and restaurants. The staff were friendly and the rooms clean, and the pool was relaxing and well designed.
We arrived on the first day slightly early, and the staff made us feel welcome and offered us the poolside shower after our long flight, as well as being able to check luggage and explore the area. We wished we had time to explore the spa.

Recently, my family and I had the pleasure of staying at the exquisite Opera Hotel. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with welcome drinks, and our luggage was brought to our rooms swiftly. We were delighted to find immaculately clean and spacious rooms, complete with both air conditioning and ceiling fans for optimal comfort. A thoughtful touch was the window netting, ensuring a bug-free environment—a detail that truly enhanced our stay.

The hospitality at Opera Hotel surpassed our expectations. The gracious hotel owner not only provided exceptional service but also shared invaluable recommendations for excursions, enriching our experience. Additionally, arranging taxi rides through the hotel proved convenient and economical.

Each morning, the pristine pools were meticulously cleaned, inviting us to indulge in refreshing swims. The main pool, shallow and safe, offered a haven for children to frolic and play, adding to the overall charm and appeal of our stay.

The culinary experience at the restaurant was a true delight, offering a plethora of delectable options. From breakfast to dinner, each dish exuded freshness and was crafted with care, boasting generous portions that kept us satiated for hours. Even my picky daughter found the hotel's accommodating approach to her dietary preferences commendable. Their gesture of packing food for our early flight was both generous and heartwarming, showcasing their dedication to guest satisfaction.

The warmth and hospitality of the staff were unparalleled. Every team member greeted us with genuine smiles and eagerness to assist with any request. The hotel owner's personal touch was particularly memorable, as she invested time in getting to know each guest, ensuring a personalized and welcoming atmosphere throughout our stay.

To celebrate our birthdays, my daughter and I were pleasantly surprised with beautifully adorned beds—a thoughtful gesture that made our special day even more memorable.

Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Stonetown, the hotel's location offered a tranquil retreat. For those craving beachside relaxation, a leisurely 20-minute stroll or a quick 10-minute taxi ride led to the nearest beach. Alternatively, guests could unwind at the intimate adults-only spa and pool area, perfect for moments of serenity and rejuvenation.

While the hotel primarily caters to adults seeking relaxation, families with children can still enjoy the pool area. However, beyond this, there aren't many dedicated amenities for young ones. To enhance our daughter's experience, we brought along pool floats, adding an extra layer of fun to her swimming sessions.

Overall, our stay at Opera Hotel surpassed all expectations, earning its place among my favourite accommodations. I eagerly anticipate returning with my family and extend heartfelt gratitude to the entire team for an unforgettable experience.

We stayed in a few hotels during our trip and this hotel was hands down the best. The level of care and value for the price is incredible.
It’s owned by an Italian family - they all live and work there, which makes a difference, and the whole team made us feel like we’re part of the family.
It was our honeymoon, we celebrated Christmas, New Year, my Birthday.
Every team member is friendly, we thank everyone - Giselda, Antonina, Osvaldo, Ennio, Safrina, Joseph, Paul, Mariam, Joyce and the rest.. thank you all!

Facilities:
- Rooms are comfortable, clean, beds are comfortable, AC, fan, shower are working well
- For the night I tested many options to sleep -with open window worked the best for us.
- Wifi is ok, we streamed Netflix, had a few WhatsApp calls, but we didn’t have working calls, so we forgot to check the speed
- The pool in the middle is great

Food and services inside:
- Food - OMG, the best!, portions are generous, every meal delicious, our favourites were crab pasta, panzerrotti, gnocchi with shrimps, tiramisu
- Breakfast was great! Eggs of choice, fruits, pancakes, and daily rotating cakes and sweets and some local dishes like chicken, vegetables. We stayed for 12 nights and never felt bored because of this rotation! Food was fresh, a buffet style so you will be satisfied! And warm smiles from staff made it even better.
- Massage was amazing, totally recommended!
- The boutique shop inside is nice too.
Service:
- All recommendations from Giselda and Antonella were excellent: hotel in Kendwa had a good deal and food, Kizimkazi trip was amazing;
- they shared tips for everything, No matter how many questions we asked, Giselda found solutions for all our small requests, and it was during a peak season!
- For Christmas and New Year celebration wonderful dinner was organised, for Birthday - a tasty cake with a nice song from the team.

Beaches and location:
- We experienced many beaches of Zanzibar- Kendwa, Nungwi, Paje, Jambiani and Matemwe. Kendwa was our favoruite by far because of the blue water, spaciousness and relaxed vibe. Nungwi is good for the night, more restaurants, places with music, shops. So Opera’s location is between Kendwa and Nungwi.
- The location is not directly on the sea, so you either can take a 5-min walk, it’s very close, the walk is a bit rocky , so careful with slippers. Otherwise, you can take a bodaboda (motocycle) or taxi to Kendwa or Nungwi for a cheap price - a few dollars. We mostly went to Kendwa to the recommended hotel, were you rent beached for 10 dollars, but you can spend it on the food there, and food is good.

We recommend to choose Opera hotel to everyone!

The hotel is simply stunning. The design is modern, clean and every single corner of this place makes you feel at home.
Giselda and her whole family are hospitable, friendly and kind. From the first moment I walked through the door I immediately felt at home.
The area around the hotel is also very quiet; you will find yourself in a small oasis of peace. The ideal place to relax and recharge your batteries. The icing on the cake? Their restaurant. The cuisine is a mix of Italian and Swahili, with a rich and varied menu and excellent quality products.
I will return there another 1000 times. Try it to believe! ❤

Absolutely lovely new hotel, within a few minutes walk from the bustle of the main tourist stip. Staff were friendly and helpful, food was excellent (and well-priced), and the building is new and well maintained.
Made for an ideal quiet retreat from the beach.

I can't get enough of Opera, it's the best and cleanest place in Zanzibar. I recommend it and we are definitely coming back. The owners are very lovingly aw felt at home, considering all the mess my son did during breakfast time. We loved and enjoyed our stay. The breakfast is amazing, they have fresh food everyday and they dont repeat breakfast.you always guaranteed a surprise every morning.

This hotel is lead by an Italian family. It was the cleanest of all hotels I had. They have extremely great kitchen, everything was just perfect, and the whole family tries to make you feel well. The pool is a sensation. It's very close to Nungwi and Kenda, so you can try both beaches, which are pretty famous. There's a disco nearby, but it doesn't disturb.

Where should I even start ? Came with friends (with kids) total of 20 people & every one loved the hotel. The welcome, attention, flexibility, cleanliness ... and to top it my 40th birthday celebration was 🔥. Highly recommended
I felt home away from home because the family owners treat you like a family member. Definitely coming back and every person I know who visits Zanzibar should pass by here.

If we put aside the hotel facilities which were of a high standard, the order and cleanliness and the excellent food that the hotel offers... only the service deserves a five star hotel. Each and every one of the staff at the hotel made our experience perfect. The hotel is run by an amazing Italian family, everyone is smiling and helpful with any request. We had a great time and if we come to Zanzibar again, of course we will come back. Beyond that, the hotel is located about a 10-minute walk from the sea. We had a great time, thank you for everything, your friends from Israel!

I had the most awesome three days. The ambiance keeps on giving, very tranquil, perfect food. The whole family works around the clock to make you feel comfortable. I recommend it’s a 10/10

Beautiful boutique hotel, nice big rooms with AC, with fridge, central pool and many sandbeds.
But the highlight is the cousine - traditional italian or fusion with italian touch - very tasty, worth to try.

I never imagined that there is another world behind the wall. This place is gorgeous and the food is just unbelievable, it was a bit pricey compared to the other places we've been but we regret nothing the linguine and lasagne were just absolutely fantastic
