Jakobsen Beach and Guest House

After 7 years we finally made it back here, this time with children (3 and 6yo) and in one of their cozy houses instead of camping. We chose Swala house which has a nice kitchen and dining area and short distances to beach, neighbors and reception.

This place is heaven for us, far from any network, zero phone and internet reception, just family, bathing, cooking, bbq-ing, coffee drinking, reading, kayaking, snorkeling and exploring.
Sebrastian, the tame Zebra grew close to our heart, just the monkeys had to be kept at bay (don't leave food accessible and lock house and car doors).

Pro tip: bring your running gear, the northern peninsula is not habitated and offers great views on your jog. Take a dip in the water afterwards!

Enjoyed my time throughly, even though the rising lake waters have taken away the once spacious beach, the serenity, seb the Zeb, and staff were great for a few days of peace and quiet.

Owned by a lovely retired Norweigan couple, who maintain for the betterment of the community.

Recommend staying a few days, while 4g/wifi is only available at the reception, that shouldn't discourage you from stopping in for a few days for some R&R.

This place was spectacular. It was my mom and I we stayed here and had them arrange our boat to gombe for the day. We stayed in the shamba house which was the perfect choice for us although was the farthest from reception. Views of congo lots to do on property. No restaurant. Zebra on property that is people friendly. And monkeys everywhere. Good for all ages. Free parking on site.

Great people and the facility is in a big land with natural vegetation, Great place for campers with both rooftop tents and ground dome tents. You can hire/tent vehicle for self drive from Gladiola Adventure ltd and drive your Tanzania road trip adventure as from Arusha to Kigoma and you can choose to pick up and drop off the vehicle anywhere you wish. In your plan please make sure you consider spending the night here when you are in Kigoma. You can leave for Gombe national park and these people can help you a lot on your tour plan on this zone.

The only place in Africa where I had a campfire and roasted hot dogs on the beach with a mix of international folks. My best memory was at night, when we went to some high platform and looked over the lake. The stars were out, and so were several dozen fishing boats, whose lights moving in the darkness looked to be moving stars as you couldn't tell the difference between the sky or the lake. Great time. I was there 8 years ago and am thinking it's about time to go again.

Mr Jakobsen is very knowledgeable and super nice. We had an amazing time at the lodge swimming on our personal beach. Very clean facilities with the nicest staff. The kitchens had everything we needed.

Great camping, right on the lake, really quiet, swimming and fishing. Helpful staff. You can order dinner in advance, gets delivered.

Its nice place to relax. It is in the nature and nice spot to take a break from city noises. With nice beach areas.

My experience was great 👍. It is a place I can recommend for a gateway and recharge.

I have never needed their accommodations. (I hear they are nice) We as a family love their beach. Awesome!
