Although the outside is run down and might scare you away, there is someone in there who cooks like a god. We were not expecting our meal to be so good, it was fried to perfection!

So yummy. Wish they'd update and do a refresh on this brand. It's a shame that great places fall away. Like grandys and cafeterias. The grandys next door just closed its doors permanently. So sad 😞 I feel ljs will soon follow. 😢

Absolutely fantastic!! I drove through on my way home to AZ from FL and the staff was so friendly and helpful, a true classic way of Customer Service. Everyone seemed like family behind the counter. After many hours on the road I was able to sit down somewhere with a dining room all to myself and just chill with some good food and a movie. I was actually doing a Happy Dance in my seat. I had a wonderfully tasty, perfectly cooked meal. I wish LJS would come back to the West in this Old School way, how do we make this happen as the ones hooked onto Taco Bells, etc are HORRIBLE! (No Crispies, teeny tiny pieces of protein, oil soaked tiny hush puppies, no crispy battered edges, a weak serving of fries and Vinegar in Packets that hold like a half a teaspoon - and I get attitude when asking for a bag full as I use about half a bottle every time) Can a manager or worker please respond back with me as I NEEEED to buy some bottled Malt Vinegar and can't find it anywhere online. I should have purchased a case instead of just two bottles while visiting. I could absolutely kick myself. Keep on Keeping On! And a Big Thank You to the Staff for one of the best road food experiences of my entire trip. Big Ol' Hugs

Husband just grabbed thru the drive thru. He said they were really slow. But the fish it perfect. Crispy and freshly hot. The fries aren't perfectly fresh, but they're warm. Hushpuppies were fresh. Thanks! I was craving some, and I got what I expected. Yummyness!!

We went through the drive-thru and they must've been very understaffed because it took 20-25 mins to get our food. The employee, even though she was overwhelmed, was very nice and completed our order correctly. The food was hot and fresh, made my hubby a happy man! So, if you visit, be prepared to possibly wait and please be just as kind to them! We will be back, we will always wait for good food!

It's been awhile since I ate here. because a few years ago we had the most awful time..the long waiting time .. the fish was just crunchy like no fish at all..the hush puppies were cooked way to long...but this time everything was very good and eatable.. didn't had to wait long..hush puppies were great I could actually bite into one instead of just throwing them across the room to see what I could break.😁the service was awesome..this time there was actual fish ..the people running this place now. know how to get stuff done..thank you all guys..I highly recommend to stop and eat here..and to the cashier Nicholis..you were awesome..you need a raise..👍

We have not been to LJS for a few years but decided to give it a try. I know this location has quite a few bad reviews but it seems like they're trying to turn things around. It was only open for drive through as it looked like they only had a couple of workers, and it did seem a little long but it was well worth it!!! This was the best fish and chips we've had in quite a while! Everything, the fish, fries, & hush puppies, were all freshly cooked , piping hot, cooked to perfection, and tasty, just like in the old days about 30 years ago! The Cole slaw was fresh tasting also. The gentleman taking the orders, taking payment, & handing out the food was very kind and courteous. Now granted the building is in a state of disrepair, and I would have counted off on the rating if the food had not have been so good, but hopefully with increased quality of food and service their business revenue will increase and they will be able to afford repairs and updates. Maybe the corporation will help with updates and maybe an Abilene business foundation can help with repairs. So give them a try and let's see if we can save the only LJS in Abilene from shutting down!

Great food. It was fresh and hot. The only complaint is they didn't have sweet tea.

Long waits, as it's the only one in town. But the food is almost always fresh/ hot. They rarely mess up orders... Although this last time, they forgot a side on one of the meals I ordered. Still give them a top 5 rating!

Food is always great as is the pricing. Staff is kind enough to let us top-up our drinks purchased from our first visit in the same day (husband saw my food & wanted to go back & get a meal for himself). Staff is super friendly & I love the drive thru option, I only wish we had one closer to our home.

Usually the food is pretty good but lately it's been stale. Will update if it improves.

EDIT: I've been back at least 3 times since that post and it's been fantastic so updated the stars. Y'all have redeemed yourselves and it's delicious 🤤

I usually never have good experiences at Long John Silvers. If it wasn't for the food i would never go. Stopped by Abilene to get some food, and i had the best experience i have ever had at any LJS. The food was delicious, the staff was helpful, and it was all around a really good experience. There was even an employee that asked everyone how their food was. I was really surprised by how good the service was!!

Little bit of a wait but they were short staffed so I understand completely at least 2 of your employees really care and thats something you can't teach keep the great food coming

Food was very good cooked fresh to order. Great place to eat with family or friends.

I think LJS is a devisive fast food place, you either love it or hate it. Of the two in Abilene, I much prefer this one. They've improved over the years, too. It used be a bit too greasy for me, but the last time I went it was perfect.

Edit, came here again and it has improved, so I raised the rating.

They cooked to order without any questions or complaints. U may b left waiting a little longer than most drive thru fast food places, but it's usually well worth the wait! Btw, they have changed their fries & they're SOOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!👏🤙

They always cook my 3 piece chicken to perfection. It is very hard to find motivated, people, in fast food, who do their job in earnest. Thank you for always delivering an excellent product.
