Was a unique 50s dining car feel and the waitress was very knowledgeable of its historic design and its history. The food was yummy and fresh.

First time visiting this establishment. My family is up here camping and we were looking for somewhere to get both lunch and breakfast. We found Nick' s and have it a shot. It is a cool old diner! A little dated and worn, but that just adds to the charm. It is not a big place, but there are a lot of booths and counter seating. There are also tables for two up front. There were five of us, and our server moved some tables together to accommodate our group. The service was excellent as our server was a hustler, covering the entire diner on her own! Breakfast is served all day, and they have both breakfast and lunch specials. Our group ordered everything from an omelette, a fried sampler platter, soup and sandwiches, and a pan pizza. The food came out correctly, as ordered and was delicious! They quality was excellent. Prices are also reasonable.
If you are looking for a quaint, affordable family diner, Nick's Southside Country Diner is your place!

This was one of the best omelettes I've had. I loved how the egg was thin and it had lots of with filling. I'd definitely go back!

Good food and good service. Had the Worm special minus cheese plus onion and 2 eggs with sliced ham and toast.

I have been going to this Diner since I was a boy. Even with biased aside, everytime I visit I'm politely greeted by a friendly staff. The restaurant has a atmosphere unique to Nick's. The facility is clean and the food is terrific. Service is timely and convenient. A wonderful joint, truly! I would recommend Nick's Southside Diner to anyone!

Awesome atmosphere. My 10 year old said "It looks old, like the 80's". 🤣 Both girls loved the breakfast, and the hubs said the Reuben was a "great sandwich". Our waitress was amazing, punctual, and patient. Cant ask for anything more. Great food, Great service!

Nick's Diner is awesome! I always enjoy myself there. The food is great. Super fresh, large portions. My favorite thing to order is their omelettes. Just delicious! I also recommend their gyros. My kids love the pancakes. I forgot the waitresses name but she is so on top of everything and very friendly. I always make sure to tip her well before leaving. Although the location is kind of hidden, it's the mom & pops places like Nick's Diner that always come out on top, in my book, for best food and overall service around town.

Just on a trip around Michigan, looking for a place to stop for lunch. Spotted this diner, once inside it reminded me of a 1950's diner, this included the decor. The staff was friendly, we sat at the counter that had stools like I remember in diners and ice cream shops. For $10 you get a drink, a cup of soup and a burger with fries. Everything was good, I had chicken soup with dumplings (excellent). Don't think you could beat this place for lunch or dinner (breakfast too).

Came on a Sunday around noon. It was very busy and only one waitress! She really hustled and did her best. I ordered a 3 egg omelette with hash browns and toast. It was very good but had too many onions! Will come back.

Our group of 4 adults and 4 children throughly enjoyed our lunch at Nick’s. Patty Melts, Biscuits & Gravy and Gyros. The chicken dumpling soup was really good. Service and decor added to the super experience.

We had 6 people who all had something different, everything was delicious, everything was homemade. Friendly, fast service in a nice old fashion diner. And they made a monster truck pancake for our picky eater who ate every bite! We'll definitely go back again.

Good food got loaded up on the southside big breakfast. I totally recommend the sausage patties and ham. The bacon was good too but that's how I place them the links more the back end of the list but hey that's me.

The day I ate here was on Memorial day weekend. There wasn't many people employed. But what I can say about this place was the service from those employees was phenomenal. The girl who was like a owner/server ran laps around basically any server I have ever had. I wish other servers had half her speed and talents. I had a omlete, hashbrowns, toast, sausage gravy. The food was good although sausage gravy was definitely lacking in the sausage department. If I'm ever going through town though I would definitely try this place again. For a diner with average food. The service earned this place a 5 star review. Not to mention the server definitely knew her regulars and called them by name huge plus in my book. Also, some people I heard say they come atleast once a week if not more. That being heard I hope this review helps you decide if you would like to eat here. Also, if your in need of a great waitress look no further I highly recommend her.

Nice place to stop for a meal. (Breakfast all day is your best bet.)
The review compared it to Little Boots of Houghton Lake and The Whitehouse in Clare. I'd been to both so I tried Nick's.
Little Boots has better food.
The Whitehouse is a must visit.
Nick's was the most diner like.
I enjoyed all three!

Walk into Nick's is taking a trip back in time. It is a 50s diner with pink booths and your own coat rack. If your feeling sociable sit at the counter and chat up one of the friendly local.Friendly staff good food at a reasonably price. It fill up fast and never affected the great service. A must stop before you leave town.

The old diner look appealed to us as we passed through Alpena. So glad we stopped! Friendly and prompt service. Wonderful food and very reasonable prices. We'd definitely stop again.

Could use a little face-lift and/or cleaning in some areas.
