Motel was super clean and nice!! All the staff are very friendly and helpful!! Jeremy was amazing with our horseback ride. It was me and my wife's first time ever riding and he was patient and told us exactly what to do. His stories were informative and some very amusing!! We loved every second of the ride. Definitely making this an annual trip with our friends!!!!

Hands down the best campground within walking distance of the water in NC. The ladies at check-in were nice and super helpful. It’s beautiful during the day and quiet at night. Sounds of the beach in the distance are a perfect way to drift off to sleep.
10/10, would absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes the beach and camping. Can’t wait to come back again. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

The highlight of this ranch is the horse riding! The wild horses and cattle are amazing to see up close. We even saw a juvenile bald eagle and traces of otters. Jeremy was a terrific guide who entertained us with facts about the local wildlife. I highly encourage the 90 minute ride so you can splash through the water! It was wonderful!

Riding horses on the beach was absolutely a wonderful experience!! Cowboy Jeremy took us on a beach ride that was a great experience. Free ranch cattle and wild horses around and beautiful beaches. A must do experience. Thank you Jeremy.

such a hidden gem! our motel room was cleaner than nearly every hotel we've ever stayed at (old does not mean unsanitary, people). my parents had an RV site right on the bay, perfect for fishing. the beach was well kept, and Cedar Island staff were diligent about guests following leash rules (thank you!). while there is a great seafood spot 20-30min down the road, food options are very limited otherwise (as noted in the booking info), so you must plan accordingly. the parking lot and driving paths could definitely use some TLC, but it's easy enough to navigate the bumps, holes, and destroyed pavement. prospective guests, be advised that you should book a room if you're not comfortable with actual camping and the aspects that go along with it.

BRING DEET. those OBX mosquitos are no joke and will eat you alive if you haven't bathed in the strong stuff, speaking from experience 🥲

riding horses on the beach is a must! Cowboy Jeremy provides a safe and entertaining experience. my only regret was that we didn't book sooner and missed out on the sunset ride.

Cedar Island was an affordable weekend getaway that we plan on making our annual family vacation spot and look forward to staying more than just a weekend.

First time horse back riding, and it was along the beach and in the water!! It was so fun and our guide, Jeremey, was extremely knowledge and passionate - and really funny too! HIGHLY recommend checking this place out for an unforgettable experience 🐎

My husband and I went our with cowboy Jeremy tonight. I have terminal leukemia. He made me remember how great life on a ranch use to be. Great stories a hell of a ride and memories that I will indeed have for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for the best bucketlist trip ever Jeremy 💗

We loved it ! we had a suite at the motel it was very accommodating and the Stalls for our horses it was quite an experience every
horse person should come out here and ride on the sound . I can mark that off my bucket list.

I went on a one hour horseback ride on the beach. Jess was our guide, and she was awesome! She gave us clear instructions on how to be safe. Jess had a relaxed and welcoming attitude.

Horse back riding with Jess the day after Christmas 2023 was so relaxing, adventurous and beautiful blue skies. Laurie at The inn was so understanding and accommodating when we missed our ferry boat and hand to cancel our room 💚⭐♥🎄. We did the 11 am ride and Jess was a pure delight and such well behaved horses. Thank you all!!

We had a fantastic time! Our dogs also enjoyed the trip. The sunrise horseback ride was spectacular!

We stayed here for the Pirate Jamboree on Ocracoke - was very convenient, right at the ferry station. This was one of our favorite spots we’ve ever camped. We were in lot 4 and could see sunrise every day out our back window. Only negative was bugs - but mostly flies and gnats. Not unbearable, but you can tell there are stables nearby. Overall a wonderful place!

Completely enjoyed our stay in a suite, the camping and RV looked nice with full hookups and the bathrooms and showers were well kept in that area. I really enjoyed the horseback riding and touring the feral horses and cows and riding on the beach. The room was excellent and apparent that new investment is doing a fantastic job!

This place is a hidden gem! We stayed in the hotel and were absolutely delighted with it. Bed was comfortable, room was clean, and the AC was wonderful, and very quiet in September after Labor Day! The staff was very pleasant and helpful! The fishing was great, the location was great, it was very cool to walk a very short distance to take the ferry to Okracoke Island for a day trip! Definitely won’t be our last trip there!!! It’s pretty remote so take some food and a method to cook it in the parking lot, a grill and a flat top worked great for us!!!! To the staff, after hearing some negative feedback from earlier, we are absolutely delighted and will be back!

We needed a place to stay to catch the 730a ferry to Ocracoke Island and this place couldn't be more perfect. Very clean, modern rooms located right beside the ferry terminal so we didn't have to get up too early. I was even able to get a few dark sky images of Orion over the sound just after we arrived. Just made my long trips to Ocracoke much easier.

Jim and Jan were extremely friendly and helpful! I can tell they have pride for all they do at their wonderful ranch. I highly recommend the Horseback Riding Tours!

Very accommodating staff ,friendly n clean grounds ,bursting wit fish ,fresh seafood, the horseback ride on beach is a must 👌!! Jeremy was awesome, first rate.

We took a 90 minute beach horseback ride with Cowboy Jeremy, who was an excellent guide and a real cowboy! Matched my friend and I with the perfect horses for our experience at riding. Really beautiful with a water crossing, so many birds, wild horses and believe it or not, feral cows! Jeremy was funny, informative and friendly! Too bad he’s from Oklahoma(inside joke)!! Horses are well cared for and the scenery fantastic! Highly recommend!

We had an excellent time camping here. Friendly staff, quiet, clean campground. Horseback rides on a beautiful beach. Well mannered horses. Pet friendly. Definitely will go back here again and again.... Highly recommended!!

We have now been camping/horseback riding here 4 times since previous post. My granddaughter and I had an amazing horseback ride on the beach with Cowboy Jeremy. He is very professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was a beautiful day for a beach ride!
Still highly recommend to anyone who has ever wanted to ride on a beach. Awesome time!

Adoreably renovated motel rooms, quiet and restful, clean and wonderful staff. They have carefully brought life back to a place that was abandoned for years. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed in the pet friendly king motel room. There was a pet pack just for the pup and a fresh, clean scent throughout the room. It is obvious the owner cared about the renovations with well handmade shelving and a well maintained bath.
