I’ve been coming here every year, usually multiple times a year and it’s great each time. It’s my home away from home and I live just a couple hours down the coast. It’s just different!

One bit of advice, if you plan on fishing the end of the pier, make sure you take the locals advice and be sure to watch and see how things “work” on the end. They are happy to give all the advice in the world as long as you are willing to watch, listen and learn. That is their home and life style!

I have fished this pier my whole life. One of the best ones in America. Great atmosphere and hospitality. Very friendly people and the fishing is amazing. This was a 7ft sand tiger my friend caught when we was targeting drum. Safely released.

Nice Pier to walk down. There is a fee if you just want to walk the pier. Cute little shop on inside building you can get your fire permits there and your fishing permits.

Quite long although feels a bit precarious when a big wave hits it, lol. Gorgeous views of the ocean though will take your stress away! Highly recommend. They do charge $2 for sightseers but it the cheapest therapy you'll ever find!

Great pier! Looks like it has been through a lot and fixed over and over. The building seems to be leaning to one side. The pier itself is a bit wonky, but tons of character. Cost is $2 to walk the pier. There is a gift shop and close by eats. Excellent area to fish, enjoy the beach, sight see, etc. Go enjoy!

Great place to overlook the beaches of Avon in both directions. You can sightsee for a small fee ($2 when I was there) or get a one day fishing pass! My wife and I rented rods and fished off the edge of the pier. Recommend getting there early to get a decent spot as there are usually anglers every day.

Best pier on the islands if you ask me. Always really generous people. Helpful an have alot of tackle in the shop. Great selection of bait. You can rent poles an just go sightseeing. We always try to get a day or two in fishing at the pier.

If your on Outer Banks you have to check out this fishing pier. Imperfectly perfect from past storms. Great to fish, people watch, fish watch, surfer watch.. go sit at the beach. Hit up the food trucks or the local restaurants.

I love every twist and turn of this pier! Super fun to go watch the fisherman, talk with locals, and watch the waves. Also, a cheap date night - 2$ for sightseers. you can snag a drink (alcohol or regular)and snack from their shop before your walk out. Im not a fisherman, but it seems their shop has a variety of gear and equipment, bates, a knowledgeable staff, and other stuff. The staff are friendly and happy to pass on information. They also have a nifty facebook page for updates on information like weather issues, operation times, and fisherman catchs. Dont miss the 4th of july fireworks show -- it is A-Freaking-Mazing!!

Beautiful pier and view of the beach and ocean. The ramp to the pier is fairly steep and the pier itself is buckled, which may cause some challenges for those with limited mobility. Limited parking is available by the entrance.

Our family rented poles and had a great day. We caught 8 fish in the morning then went and did some other things. Since our passes were good for the day, we came back in the evening and caught 10+ more.

This has been a must do every summer visit to the island. Great fishing and a unique experience on a storm-weathered pier.

Good pier with a nice store. Facilities are good (clean restrooms, etc.).I always like to see a fish-cleaning station with running water, so that's a plus. Benches are much appreciated. Visited here twice, caught my first shark and had my kid do the same.

Fishing wasn't the best because of the time of year, but I definitely enjoyed fishing off the pier early June! Had a free pass for the week, which was lovely. I would recommend sightseeing to anyone, especially the sunrise! It's worth the 5 o'clock alarm!

The Pier is a must every year. Its crooked boards and twisted path lead to a bevy of colorful characters perched fishing at the end, telling tales of their greatest conquests and the ones that got away. There always seems to be a Hierarchy of knowledge and skill among'st the cast with a sense of primal respect. All is quiet until a large fishing rod bends and the sound of spooling line extends from the drag of a reel. The pier seems to come alive and all eyes are fixed on the show! Enjoy the pier.

Such a neat little peir! It's definitely.....kind of interesting being out there. The peir is not even and it feels like a pile of wood was thrown together to build it. But that's the charm of the peir!

It's a $1 to get to walk on it and it's so worth it. They also have a little concession building attached to it. Fun for fishing and just watching the sunrise :)

Avon Fishing Pier is always a nice place to go to relax and just get a hook wet. They have a tackle shop they sell bait and have all of the normal pier fishing amenities. There is a charge for spectators so be prepared to Shell out a couple bucks if you want to just walk out on the pier but that's pretty normal nowadays. The staff here is knowledgeable and friendly and if you ever have any questions about what's going on feel free to ask and they will give you a good answer. This is a good place to watch the sunrise and the sunset in my opinion. I always visit this pier when I'm down at the Outer Banks.

We went in the morning (10am) and again later in the evening (abt 8pm)....we loved that it was an all day pass which included fishing rod rental so if you were done early and did want to come back, you'd not be charged again! We caught lots of different kind of fish and never a dull moment watching the locals reel them in! Highly recommend with the kids!

My husband Leonard wanted to go to Avon fishing pier and fish one more time before he was not able to go on trips any more, so we went and he bought a rod and reel and the guy working fixed it for him to fish with and gave him some bait and let him fish that day. I want to thank him for everything that he did for my husband that day. He had such a great time fishing, after he caught 4 fish he was really tired and was ready to go but he was happy and got to do one of the things that he wanted to before he got sicker. My husband Leonard passed away on 8/8/2023. I can't remember the workers name but I hope he sees this post. Thank you for helping make my husband happy thar day, may God bless you in all you do and every where you go.

This is right in the ocean! How awesome is that? And you can fish there! Or watch people fish. Or just sit! The gift shop has cool stuff and the prices are reasonable, considering. Now, some place like this is not my normal review. No windows. But then, as I watched the sunset and remembered the sunrise earlier that day (it took place at dawn), I realized that this place had THE PERFECT lighting! No curtains needed! Always the perfect light! Regardless of the time of day, irrelevant of the weather, time of year, day or even your mood! Standing on the pier, you will soon see that the light is perfect, no matter the situation.
