Hotel Römerhof

Truly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in recent memory. From the moment we arrived, the staff made sure we had a great stay. It’s still a family-owned and run hotel and you can feel it.

The food is so good! The servers and chefs were very accommodating for my partner’s many allergies.

Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.

The location is perfect - ski in, ski out with rentals right next to the hotel.

The spa is a little dated, but huge with everything you could want - 3 saunas, steam, hot tub, large pool.

Winter wonderland at your fingertips

The hotel's location is perfect, you are provided with excellent access to ski slopes while remaining pretty central enabling you to visit the rest of the town if necessary. Right from the get-go we were warmly welcomed by a pleasant staff and provided with a space in a sheltered private underground garage, which was an excellent touch as though it helped us to unpack with relative ease and comfort. But the friendly demeanour of the staff didn't end there, whether it came down to room service, cleaners, reception staff, or waiters we were always treated pleasantly and nicely. Any issue we might have encountered was quickly resolved by the helpful staff members. The room themselves were spacious, always clean, and looked luxurious. We were also happily surprised when it came to our accommodation's facilities, the pool is in great condition not to even mention the spa area that is perfect for relaxing after a long day. When talking about food it is essential to commend the restaurant's ability to pick diverse menu options for every day, with options to satisfy anyone, keeping the experience exciting and obviously, tasty. Overall, we had an amazing stay and we would definitely recommend Hotel Römerhof to anyone. That's about it, we will be looking forward to visiting again.

The overall experience was great! But there are some things that are - and I'm complaining on a very high level - sub-superior:
- The WLAN quality is not very good. Yes, I know, coming from a German those are big words. It's not the bandwidth, it's the weird solution working with several routers that all provide mediocre connection in the room. They tend to break the connection and switch while in the room. I think, just giving them a bit more power would do.
- The mattress is too hard. Others might like it but it's not really my kind of mattress - though I got used to it and slept rather well.
- The wide variety of foods at breakfast is great! But I highly recommend to the staff to check fruit salad and juices every morning. Some Pretzel buns would be nice but given the otherwise high variety of baked goods, that's less of a complaint than a suggestion. Some baked goods, including some buns (in the morning) and the cake in the afternoon are a tad bit too dry for my taste.
- The ventilation in some parts of the sauna is quite noisy.
- It's somewhat pricey but hey, that's the market when coming in high season...

Now, coming to the good things:
- Great solution with ski-in, ski-out!
- The food is tasty and plenty! They know how to present it and cook the meat to perfection!
- Very friendly staff!
- The rooms were clean and spacious, I liked the bathroom design a lot!
- The spa is beautiful and comfy. I just would recommend to enlarge the area where you can cool yourself down in the snow after the sauna. It's basically a door and then there's a wall of snow (sooo much snow in Obertauern, it's just beautiful!)

Would I recommend staying in Römerhof? Yes!
Would I come back? Well... Since I consume skiing resorts a lot, I want to see constantly new slopes and panoramas. So I won't be back in the next few years.

We had a fantastic time in your hotel. We loved the building, the rooms, the friendly staff . The breakfast and the dinner was always with a great selection and taste. I would definitely recommend your hotel to anyone, but more importantly I will go back for sure with my family.

Every we come back here to spend a few days - every year it gets better. The owner does spend on the Hotel every year, so it is always on the top. Very nice rooms, the best breakfast and very nice people. Welness is also a great treat, the massage is professional. Perfect location, a real ski out-ski in Hotel.

The hotel was a good choice, it has probably the best location for skiing and closeness to the village. It is also well equiped. The wellness center is quite large. The room, although a single one, had both a bath and shower. Free underground parking is also nice. The cuisine was tasty.
What I missed were slippers (strange since there was a bathrobe), the possibility to buy one day ski tickets in the hotel. A bit unusual for a larger hotel was the fact that the reception was unattended in the evening.

Excellent place for winter location for couples or the whole family. Prime location near the slopes, magnificent mountain views from rooms and SPA, fine dining, perfect service. Good options for youth and children leisure. Direct access to slopes from hotel's ski room. And rare option for this destination to spend evening in nightclub like bar in hotels basement. Hotel provides true mountain holiday experience as it should be.

Great hotel that delivers a perfect 4 star experience. Rooms are well appointed, meals are superb and it is a great ski in/out location on a blue slope. Indoor pool and spa facilities complete the picture perfect experience!

Amazing hotel, excellent food

Ein wunderschönes Hotel, mit freundlichem Personal, ideal gelegen vom Hotel raus über die Brücke direkt auf die Piste. Halbpension Angebot sehr gut, Frühstück sehr empfehlenswert es gab alles was das Herz begehrt und das Abendessen als Menü, reichliche Auswahl und sehr schmackhaft. Der Wellnessbereich war auch ganz toll, sehr sauber und einfach zum Wohlfühlen. Im Skikeller hatte jedes Zimmer den eigenen Spint mit Zimmerkarte zu öffnen. Auch der Aufenthaltsbereich mit Tischtennis und Spielen wurde genutzt. Volle 5*****
Top weiter so...

Wir haben hier 4 Nächte im März zum Skifahren verbracht und sind absolut begeistert. Klasse ausgestattetes und gepflegtes Haus mit super Service und unschlagbarer Lage. Absolute Empfehlung!

Jedes Jahr genießen wir mindestens eine Woche bei Familie Mayer im Hotel Römerhof!
In den Tag starteten wir immer mit einem sehr reichhaltigen Frühstücksbuffet. Es gibt alles was das Herz begehrt. Durch den Skikeller hinaus gehts direkt auf die Piste. Nach einem ausgedehnten Skitag lachte uns schon die Nachmittagsjause mit Kuchen und etwas Herzhaftem entgegen - jedoch mussten wir immer noch etwas Platz lassen, denn am Abend ging die kulinarische Reise weiter. Meist schafften wir gar nicht mehr alle sechs Gänge 😌

Untergebracht waren wir in der FUXN Suite - einfach traumhaft!

Großes Lob gilt auch dem Personal, welches uns mit Witz und Charme eine tolle Woche beschert hat.
Auch wenn der Sommer schon vor der Tür steht, freuen wir uns bereits auf den nächsten Winter, wir kommen wieder 😊

Nach vielen Jahren der kinderbedingten Pause hat es uns für den Skiurlaub wieder eine Woche Anfang März 2024 in den Römerhof nach Obertauern verschlagen.

Die angrenzenden und verbundenen Zimmer 203 / 204 waren eine ideal Lösung als Familie mit Kindermädchen zu reisen und die Privatsphäre beider Seiten dennoch zu wahren.

Das Hotel strahlt nicht nur durch sein geschmackvolles Ambiente und gute Lage, sondern vor allem durch ein herausragendes Personal und Hotelführung eine unvergleichliche Heimeligkeit aus. Hier fühlt man sich sofort angekommen. Besser kann man es wirklich nicht machen!

Besonders erwähnen möchten wir Hotel-Chef Peter, der sich abends täglich um das Wohlergehen seiner Gäste erkundigt, Kellner Cosimo aus Apulien, der in mindestens 4 Sprachen fließend sein Bestes gibt, Kellnerin Anna aus Ungarn immer mit einem Lächeln auf den Lippen ebenso wie die sehr liebe Griechische Kellnerin, deren Namen wir leider vergessen haben mit ihrem Hund Shrek sowie Lena und Christoph im Service - erstere immer sachkundig und freundlich, letzterer charmant und stets mit einem Witz dabei. Sogar das Zimmermädchen aus Bosnien ist schon seit 1996 an Bord! Die Qualität und Motivation des Personals ist wirklich augenscheinlich herausragend. Das ist in Zeiten des Fachkräftemangels sicher nicht leicht zu bewerkstelligen - Chapeau!

Wir kommen sicher gerne wieder!

P.S.: Im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels des Ortes könnte man als nächste Investition eventuell den Spielraum für die Kinder vergrößern. Hier ist jener der Glöcknerin inhaltlich ähnlich, aber doch deutlich größer und jener bei Steiner natürlich ganz riesig und naturnah, was ich persönlich wünschenswert finde. Nintendo gibt es im Alltag doch meist eh zu viel....

Der Römerhof ist absolut empfehlenswert!

Der Römerhof ist ein sehr schönes Hotel in Obertauern. Hier wird Service noch groß geschrieben. Die Zimmer sind für Familien sehr geräumig und das Essen ist einfach spitze. Sehr gut sind auch die Massageangebote und der Wellnessbereich im allgemeinen. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Hier fühlen wir uns wohl und haben unseren Urlaub sehr genossen.

Ein wirklich wunderschönes Hotel in Obertauern, optimal für den Ski Urlaub. Man kann direkt aus dem Ski Keller auf die Piste fahren und ist somit vollkommen unabhängig von Shuttle Service oder Bus um auf die Piste zu gelangen.
Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber, groß und sind gut ausgestattet. Großes Dankeschön in diesem Zusammenhang an das sehr freundliche Reinigungspersonal.
Den Service können wir ebenfalls sehr empfehlen. Das gesamte Personal ist sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und zuvorkommend. Im gastronomischen Bereich fühlten wir uns jederzeit sehr wohl, da das Personal stets dafür sorgte das wenn wir einen Wunsch hatten, dieser auch erfüllt wurde.
Der hoteleigene Spa Bereich lässt ebenfalls keine Wünsche offen. Es gibt ein reichhaltiges Angebot an Massagen und darüber hinaus diverse Saunen sowie ein Schwimmbad und einen Whirlpool.
Wir waren jedenfalls in unserem ein wöchigen Aufenthalt voll und ganz zufrieden und werden sehr wahrscheinlich im nächsten Jahr wiederkommen.
Und ein ganz speziellen Dank an unseren Kellner Robert, der stets für gute Stimmung bei uns gesorgt hat und auch an den Barkeeper Krysztian.
