I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming inn on March 18, 2024, and it was a delightful experience. Situated in a beautifully maintained historic building, this inn exudes character and charm from the moment you step through the door.

The inn itself is a testament to the rich history of the area, with its architecture and period features lovingly preserved. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with cozy furnishings and original decor that create a welcoming atmosphere.

However, what truly sets this inn apart is the exceptional level of service provided by the staff. In particular, I must commend the wonderful employee who was on duty during my stay. She went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my visit was perfect, from offering helpful local tips to ensuring that I felt right at home. Her genuine warmth and hospitality truly made my stay memorable, and I can say that she is the most attentive and caring person I have encountered during my travels in Europe.

Overall, my experience at this historic inn was nothing short of fantastic. From the charming surroundings to the service. I would highly recommend this inn to anyone looking for a unique and memorable stay in the area.

The location is perfect but the owner is beyond perfection! Claudia, who runs the Gasthof, is a very welcoming, helpful and warm-hearted woman! I spent 2 wonderful nights there as it is a 700 year old building, right in the middle of everything! Their restaurant was closed during my stay, but Claudia recommended good places to eat. Breakfast was good too. Even though it is in the centre, it is very quiet. My room has a beautiful lake view. Home away from home, I will definitely be back.

We booked by email through the Bräugasthof Hallstatt website, Claudia was very helpful in keeping us a room during their peak season in August for our honeymoon and offered us a room with an absolutely stunning view of the lake from our balcony. The location is perfect as it is central to everything we wanted to do in Hallstatt.
Even the building is over 700 years old and is full of characters. The room is clean, and comfortable, and has a gorgeous view of the lake every second. They helped us to keep a good location with nice food in front of the lake at their excellent outdoor restaurant in peak season for their guests which we'd highly recommend.
We "REALLY ENJOYED" our stay and hope that one day we can do it again!

I made a reservation via e-mail and as I requested, I stayed at perfect lake-view room! And it was my pleasant experience to have two nights in beautiful house :) Most of objects in this hotel were so antique and special! Thank you for having me !

Got myself a lake view room. Regret only stay for one day. Room is good, well maintained old building, and service is amazing. You just gotta note that there's NO LIFT. So good luck carrying those luggages. 🙂

We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. Staff was outstanding and helpful. We had a room with balcony above the busy streets. Great, no…fantastic view of the lake and mountains.

Breakfast was delicious for the three days we were there. As a side note the daily visitors start leaving around 5pm and lessened dramatically the number of people. Restaurants there were very good with a wide variety of Austrian and Bavarian foods. The local salt mine is a must side trip. Easy walking distance from the hotel.

We went to the restaurant, it has such an amazing view. And amazing atmosphere and most importantly food! We almost licked our plates clean. Yum!

This was a wonderful location for a stay In Hallstatt. The hotel itself is filled with history. The staff was extremely friendly and hospitable, and the restaurant was excellent.

We love this 700 year old home. It is very charming and friendly. The room was romantic and the balcony view of the lake was our favorite! We will always remember this lovely place. The breakfast was excellent. The restaurant was closed during our stay, so we will have to return.

Amazing location - close to ferry station and overlooks the water. Such a lovely experience right from enquiring about rooms to checking out. Great quality breakfast also in a beautiful dining hall. At night, we were treated to a concert band performing classical music on a boat in the water. Double thumbs up 👍👍

This is a simply gorgeous place! Old wood, lots of history, a fabulous location and view out over the lake and mountains. Our balcony was such a pleasure to be in. Breakfast was delicious, with very friendly staff.
The gasthof can book you a table for dinner in the restaurant opposite (NB the restaurant only takes cash).

Everything was just perfect. Accomodation, room, view of lake and mountains, friendly staff. Plus excellent food, we had dinner and breakfast.
Plus it is almost in the center of Hallstatt, so everything is nearby.

On a busy New Year’s Day when everything in busy Hallstatt was booked up this amazing restaurant seated me and my 2 crazy children and when my 1yr old started to fuss bread was immediately served with a board book for her, my son’s crispy fries were in front of him in 4 minutes flat and our food was served a bit later and was delicious! I don’t usually write reviews but this place was GREAT!! Thank you so much!! Highly recommend!

Wonderful friendly staff - beautiful views - nice clean rooms (noise insulation obviously lacking but everyone went to bed early-ish and were respectful and quiet). We had the most beautiful balcony overlooking the lake. Transfer from car park seamless. Plentiful breakfast and dinner was delicious!!

Bräugasthof was the perfect place to stay to take in the beauty of Hallstatt. We booked the room with two balconies which meant we had absolutely stunning views of the lake and part of the town. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The people who greeted us were so welcoming and friendly.

The only downsides were that our bed creaked so much when either of us so much as flinched that we both slept poorly. This was compounded by the automatic bathroom light/extractor fan which somewhat blinded whoever was still in bed and then kept us awake due to the noise of the fan! However, the guest house was so lovely that this did not detract from our stay.

I would heartily recommend Bräugasthof.

Bräu-Gasthof Hallstatt is an utterly charming inn with gorgeous, lakeside seating for its restaurant. The building, over 500 years old, has lots of personality in its furnishings and decorations, and is kept tidy with comfortable beds and plenty of side tables and storage space in the rooms. Visitors should be prepared for the quirks of the old building, including the creaks in the floor, narrowness and a focus on functionality over luxury in the bathrooms and showers, and the lack of elevators (pack light or get ready for a good stair workout). But so long as you anticipate the realities of a building with so much history, you will be delighted. The offer two WiFi networks, to offer better coverage in a challenging building, and we both found it perfectly reliable for casual usage needs.

We had one lovely dinner at the outdoor restaurant, which serves good Austrian cuisine with a spectacular view. My fiancé had a delicious and large schnitzel, I some really excellent fish, and both of us recommend the sacher torte. The breakfast provided to guests is fairly standard for the region with a variety of fruit, cold meats, and various options to put on fresh bread and rolls. Our one regret was not having longer to stay and enjoy everything that Bräugasthof has to offer.

A very lovely and ancient hotel. The room is very cozy and clean with much space. When you open the window, the lakeview is just in the front. There is only 5 minutes walk from the market pier.
