One of the most scenic and beautiful villages in the world, Hallstatt is an ideal place for a quiet and off-beat holiday in the Austrian Alps. A beautiful lake surrounded by majestic mountains and an idyllic Village, Hallstatt is a delight for the senses, not to be missed.
Vehicles are not allowed in the town centre area. There are adequate transport facilities within easy reach in terms of local buses, ferries and a train station across the lake which is accessed with the help of a regular ferry service.

Very famous and lot of people and travel tours come to here, but no impact to see beautiful scenery. If you have time, recommend to take a boat on the lake to see different view.
Actually there are lots of beautiful lakes in Salzkammergut area, recommend to drive and stay few days.

Place with an amazing view! Must see! Stay here all day long to explore the town without a hurry. Would def recommend it out of season when less crowded.

Hallstatt is a very beautiful place. One the must if you are in austria. First of all, it would be better if you go on a sunny day, you will enjoy the day and the view more. The city is really cute and nice and ery authentic. You can reach it by train from all parts of austria or ofc by car. Also it's the place for romantic walks and chilling out. I highly recommend visiting it.

The beautiful town of Hallstatt situated on an idyllic lake is about an hour's drive from Salzburg. The place is extremely famous because of social media and even has a replica built in China. We visited during winter and on a weekday but even then there was a little bit of a crowd. I would say it's well deserved of the hype but over tourism is definitely going to ruin it.

You have to drive through mountain roads to get to this tiny and lovely place! Better to go in summer!

I would like to firstly thank the Lady at the tourist information counter here in Hallstatt. I went the to enquire about some lost and found information, i was too occupied that I did not ask the name of the extremely helpful lady behind the desk. She was so attentive throughout and made sure I got all informations that I require. I had to check out early and wasnt able to go back there to thank her myself so thought I'd leave her a review over here. Thank you once again for the whole experience!

Helpful staff with a lot of souvenirs you can buy from the nearby stalls. It also helps how they know the way to the observation deck, which can be hard to find among the many flights of stairs.

Staff was very helpful and friendly to provide the information. She was also professional in providing the correct details when i ask for luggage storage location.
